1 A life altering beginning

I stir in my bed a bit, the light is shining on my shut eyes making it hard to stay asleep...then, I awaken. I sit up in my bed and rub my eyes before questioning what time it is, I then take a quick look at the clock on the wall and start to panic a bit. I speak out "Oh shit, I'm gonna be late for school!" I frantically get up and rush over to my closet, grab my school uniform and then get in front of my mirror and change quickly. I am in the middle of checking to make sure everything is correct when I hear my cousin shout up the stairs "Tom, are you awake?! We're going to be late if we don't leave soon, hurry up if you want breakfast!" I shout back to her "Yeah, I'm coming just give me a minute!"

I Finish up and head downstairs and into the kitchen and notice my cousin has already put my breakfast on the table "Morning Aiko!" "Morning Tom, better eat fast, we have about 10 minutes before we are late to school." "Alright, oh and by the way Aiko what are you doing at around four tonight?" "Nothing really, why do you ask?" "I was wondering if you would like to go grab some dinner, I got paid last night and was feeling like treating myself to something good today. So I thought I might as well ask if you want to come with me." "Sure that sounds great, I hope you're going somewhere good because if you're paying for it then I want to make sure you pay for the best!" "Haha, alright sure, now I'm gonna eat then we're gonna leave."

After I finish eating we rush over to school and make it in time with a couple minutes to spare. Aiko and I part ways and each head to the direction of our own classrooms. I make it to my classroom just before the bell rings and my teacher notices me and gives me a look "Tom, nearly late again I see, take your seat, class is about to start."

'A few boring classes later...'

I open the roof's entrance door and walk out onto the roof, there are a few benches up here to sit at. I come here during lunch because I like the view and its also just nice up here, no one else usually comes up here for lunch, although sometimes people do. I don't mind either way, alone or with some people. "Alright, now I should sit down and get started, after all, lunch doesn't really last that long, only fifteen minutes." "Huh, what's that?" A pitch black sphere is floating slightly above the ground next to the bench I usually sit on. "Am I seeing things? But it looks so real." I put my food down on the bench so I can go investigate closer. "I wonder what it is, is this just my eyes playing tricks on me?" I reach out towards the sphere. "Just a little touch to see if it's real..."

I touch the sphere and the moment I do...

My vision is engulfed in darkness.

"W-What, why is everything so dark?!" I'm not unconscious or anything as far as I know, I can still feel my body, am I just somewhere really dark? An unknown voice speaks up from within the darkness "Welcome to the void, you are nowhere, yet everywhere at the same time, you are nothing, yet everything right now, or at least that's how I think this place works." "Who said that?!" "Oh I'm sorry, allow me to introduce myself." A pair of giant glowing grey eyes appear in front of me. "My name is Shadum (pronounced shade - um) I am a part of the void, I can even control it to some extent." "Why am I within this void? I was just at school a moment ago, how did I get here?" A mouth forms grinning for a few seconds under Shadum's eyes before disappearing.

"You are here because I need you, I have chosen you for something special, I have pulled you in here using a little bit of my control over the void." "What do you mean something special?" "You are the one who will inherit this void. I have grown quite bored and tired of being here, so I have decided to do something that will change things for better or worse." ��I will introduce something new to the world, something that will be worth disappearing for. Something that could bring havoc and chaos or bring upon something good, it is unknown as only time can tell." "You shall grow strong in your own way, whatever you choose, shall determine you're strength, you will see what I mean eventually in time, for you are very special, for you're the one I choose!"

"Wait slow down, what's happening? Why am I special, please explain?!" "Ah, but that would spoil the surprise, besides, you will know soon enough anyway." "I will know soon enough, what's that supposed to mean?" "Alright, I guess I can do it now, I may disappear forever due to doing this, and that is fine... I may cease to exist but that is fine because it was boring as hell here and maybe not existing will clear that boredom." "Here goes, I hope you enjoy your life, however long it lasts in this changed world!" Shadum starts to glow all sorts of colors, and then the void begins shattering/cracking, it slowly gets more cracked every few seconds and and then after a bit of the void cracking Shadum starts to crack as well.

"Whelp, this is it for me, goodbye Tom, hope you enjoy your life that has been altered for better or worse, in whatever way you want to."

Then...

Everything shatters and I fall unconscious on the roof, it seems Shadum is now gone forever even though we just met.
