10 Mave Tyra

"It is quite clear to me, what kind of magic you will use. Any novice that looks on the surface level would see that you could draw power from Helios, but I can see deeper. In the depths of your heart, I can see Mave Tyra. An exceptionally close bond. On the surface you're cheery and full of joy, but that's not the truth, now is it? A sort of emotional mask… Ah but I'm rambling too much, wait just a second." She says as she once more digs in to look in her cabinets. She soon turned back with another, darker crystal.

"Close your eyes. Focus on those feelings deep within you. All that sorrow and anger. Don't try to hide it. We both know it's there. Yes, that's good. I can feel the crystal reacting already. Put out your hand, and focus on the one thing that makes you feel anger the most." One thing came to Flynn's mind instantly. His anger towards the army. Anger, because they took his father from him when he was still young. The thought infuriated him.

"Perfect… Now, open your eyes!" Flynn opened his eyes, at first he couldn't see. Soon stars lit up all around him and he noticed where he was. Floating in space amidst stars, galaxies and everything in between. It was truly beautiful. Just like the bullets. One star was especially close, one of many colors. It called Flynn to itself, but he couldn't move. Soon, the star lost its colors, it became dark and void of any life. It grew bigger, like a black hole coming to swallow everything, yet it stopped in front of Flynn. One dark oddity amidst all the color beside him, yet it intrigued him the most.

"Are you Mave Tyra?" Flynn asked the star.

"I am what the people imagine Mave to be, but its true form is not a star, nor a cosmic entity. You, Flynn, are the closest to Mave Tyra. I grant you power on its behalf. Use it wisely, or become corrupt in its wake." Flynn felt a surge inside him, a surge of anger and power. His mind became null as the space around him was erased into nothing. His consciousness awoke in his body, back in the mortal coil.

"You saw it, yes?" The woman asked Flynn.

"I saw it."

"Excellent! Hold out your hand." The woman placed the dark crystal on his hand. Flynn clutched the cold object in his hand, feeling the same energy emitting from it as the star.

"Now, destroy it, become fully one with the power in it." Flynn clutched the crystal tighter, focusing all his anger into it. Nothing happened.

"Feel the energy of Mave Tyra inside you, and harness it. Use it to destroy the crystal." Flynn tried to focus all he could, but couldn't get anything to happen. Was Flynn just a failure who couldn't do such a simple thing? Why was he even here? He lost his arm and couldn't even do enough to get it back. His blood was boiling. His breathing quickened. All his muscles tensed up. BREAK OR FEEL MY WRATH YOU MORTAL STONE. The crystal shattered in his hand. The fragments digging into his hand. His hand was bleeding profusely, but his senses were clouded by pure anger. The woman was looking at Flynn with wide open eyes and pure inspiration.

"Incredible! They don't usually break on the first try. You must be especially close to Mave Tyra." There was no proudness in Flynn, no feelings of success or glory. Just anger.

"There's not much else for you here, now that you know the fundamentals. I'm sure that Donovan is waiting for you, go on, no need to keep him waiting." Flynn stood up, but was interrupted by the woman again. She handed Flynn some bandage. Flynn left, but he was lost in thought. Donovan had called Mave Tyra a black hole, but it said that its true form wasn't celestial at all. Was this due to lack of information, or are they lying to Flynn? Outside the room Donovan was waiting for Flynn.

No words were exchanged, Flynn just followed Donovan back to the elevator. It was time to meet Raine again.
