4 Chapter 1; Episode 4 Fixing Cars

2016 May 09

"Hey you! How much longer is it gonna to take to fix this car? The customer wants it back fast!" Ocean's father puts down the phone and yells at him while he's fixing the car.

"Dad, just give me half an hour and it'll be done." Ocean uses the towel around his neck to wipe off the sweat, then grabs a wrench and continues working on the black, smoking engine.

Ocean's family's garage is on the main street in front of the train station. The road is loaded with heavy traffic by all kinds of vehicles, making it a good spot for a car repair shop. Besides the black sedan Ocean is working on, a silver one awaits him on the lift.

"You better hurry up. Another car's coming in and you're not going to practice until it's fixed!" Ocean's father repeats himself as he picks up a set of tools and walks under the silver sedan.

"Dad..." Ocean grumbles quietly under his breath but goes back to work.

Ocean's uniform is covered in grease stains. There are also cuts and scars on his hands where he has been burned and pinched by tools. This doesn't seem to bother him at all, however.

Ocean has no plans to go to college. He just wants to continue what he's doing now after high school gradutation: working at the garage, playing guitar with Jessy and singing. That'll keep him content.

"All done! Whew..." 45 minutes later, Ocean finally shuts the engine hood and walks to the doorway to wash his hands. His beloved guitar is resting next to the sink waiting for him.

"Oh yeah, kid. When you're done practicing, go to Chelsea's shop and get some bread." Ocean's father fishes a five dollar bill out of his pocket and stuffs it in Ocean's shirt pocket, then squeezes his shoulder.

"Don't just buy pork floss buns!"

"I know, Dad!" Ocean says with a laugh.
