14 Self Defense

Larry

Discovering my road is blocked off, I decide to park a few streets over and walk. I look over to find my neighbors gawking on their lawn as I get closer to my house. "Don't you have anything better to do?" I yell. Nosey neighbors are one of the many things I despise about this small, southern town. Rolling their eyes, they head towards their house. That's better, I think.

Pushing my way through the horde of onlookers, I finally reach the edge of my yard. I first see an officer dragging Julia towards his car in handcuffs and shackles. I then see yellow tape strung across the porch. Forensics are coming in and out of the house, carrying various gear. I'm trying to get the gist of it all when a young officer steps in front of me and says:

"You can't go in there, sir."

"She's my client, and this is my house," I protest, trying to dodge past.
