1 Wake up call

Pain. Searing, unrivaled pain. It feels as if the entire weight of the world is pressing down on my body, and it has seemingly paralyzed me through the torture. I try to open my eyes, but the lightning bolts shooting through them forces them closed. What happened to me? Why am I in such agony?

Thoughts rush into my head, and are immediately scattered by the pain that has taken root over every inch of me. After what felt like hours later, it all suddenly stopped. Well, everything except an excruciating headache, and a pain in my stomach and thigh, but at least I can actually move.

I open my eyes, and am taken aback by what I see. I'm not in my room, or even in a hospital. I close my eyes and reopen them multiple times while rubbing them, because surely I am hallucinating. I am laying on a strange, yet well built bed, in a small room with a fireplace directly across from the bed, around 5 or 6 feet away. It is exceptionally dark, except for the dwindling fire, there is no other light present.

A small table is beside the bed, with a mug filled with a dark, strange smelling liquid sitting on top. At the foot of my bed is a door that is closed, but doesn't seem to be locked. The architecture of the room and bed give me a strange feeling, as it is all primitive and old fashioned. It seems almost…medieval. Something isn't right.

'Where am I? Am I dead?!' At this thought, I attempt to stand, but fail miserably, and crash into the floor, knocking over the small table beside my bed. Upon doing this, I hear footsteps rushing towards the door, and I begin to panic even more, which I did not think was possible. Upon falling, I notice a large bandage around my thigh and abdomen, which is each beginning to be soaked in blood. I let out a startled cry, wondering not only where I am, but why I am injured.

Only a few seconds after falling, the door opens to reveal a young man, possibly around 20, with a small sword in his hand. The sword is rusty, and clearly hasn't been taken care of as it should, and it shows this in it's appearance. The man is trying to say something, but I cannot hear him. He is slightly shaking. I try to say something, but I then black out.

~Three days later~

"Child, do not fear. Your fate has brought you down this path. You have been chosen to save our world, and undo the damage done by evils unnamed. You shall rise, swiftly, and bring peace to chaos. Upon waking, you shall understand more. Do you accept this path, and the gifts that come with it?"

Before I realize it, I have already answered. "Yes."

I wake up to a cool breeze, covered in sweat. I look around and see a previously undiscovered window, which shows a view of a small pond, with a forest directly across from it.

"Things are not as they seem. You have been given a gift, do not underestimate it's power. I have many things to explain, then I must leave you."

Upon hearing this voice, I look around and become startled as no one is in the room with me. Then I remembered my dream, and realize that this is the same voice. I must be going absolutely crazy! Hearing this voice in my dream could be chalked down to being delusional from my injuries, but hearing it while conscious!?! I have gone mad.

"You are completely sane, but you are not where or who you think you are."

"Who the hell are you, and what do you mean?!"

"There is no need to fear me. I am Alderon, God of Fate and Destiny, protector of life. You are no longer in your world, though. You are in Torinel."

Torinel. Alderon. Torinel. I have completely, undoubtedly, most definitely lost. My. Mind. Torinel is a Virtual Reality RPG fantasy game. You know, the ones filled with wizards, orcs, goblins and fairies. It also happens to be one of my favorite games, as I practically obsessed over it.

"How is this possible? This can't be real. Why did the pain feel so real? I have to be in VR."

"You are not. You are flesh and blood, and you have a mission. Things are not much different then what you are used to in your 'game'. You will find that you still have to level yourself to become stronger, and you have an inventory and all. To access these things simply focus on doing so."

Surprisingly, when I tried it, a small menu popped up, displaying some basic 'info' on my 'character'.
