1 Losing Once More

Ahhh!

I felt my energy being drained as fell down again from the powerful magic onslaught. With anger evident on my face, I pulled myself up from the ground.

'What is this? Like the tenth time I got hit by this freaking average magician.'

The opponent smiled arrogantly as he sent another annoying gust my way.

''Darn it'' I shouted as I got up again.

''Have you had enough, or do you want me to mess your face up some more?''

''Just shut up'' I yelled while charging at him to unleash just one attack to worsen his mood.

''Too easy.'' He said as he dodged my blade and blinked 20 feet away.

''Stop running and let me hit you!'' I ran once more to his direction.

''Hmm, this is starting to get boring, I guess it's time to end this.'' He then shot a high tiered magic tornado at my running form.

''Ouch, that hurt you sun of a gun.'' I yelled at him then noticed my blinking health bar that barely had any red part remaining.

''Bye bye.'' He muttered as he sent one final gust my way causing my hp to drop to nothing.

''Dang it, dang it, DANG IT! Another tournament that I got knocked out in the first round. How the hell am I going to pay rent this time?'' I ranted as I took off the third class VR gear.

'' I should just take a walk to empty my mind from another loss.''

As I got outside I noticed how much it changed. I never once stepped outside the apartment ever since the VR game PERSIST came out five years ago. I spent all of my time grinding a warrior to be the best at the game. However, after awhile the money my parents gave me to start my life dwindled to nothing and I had to sell my equips to the highest bidder just to keep playing the game. The fun I once had became less and less until it was more of a job than anything else. I had to sign up for tournaments to get extra dough, but by the time I did I was behind the pack and was just a stepping stone to skilled players to become famous.

Looking back my career is pretty uneventful and fruitless.

''Beep, Beep, Beep" my annoying ring tone played as I slowly grabbed my old phone out of my pocket.

"Huh, an unknown number. Well whatever." I said as I pressed answer.

" Hello is this Mark Frayer?"

"Huh, who are you? How did you get my number?" I snapped back annoyed.

"Would you like to restart and fix your past mistakes?" The monotone voice spoke passively.

" Hell, if I could I would have done it long ago." I said back and pressed hang up, but before I could I heard the honking of a truck as it approached me at a very fast rate.

"What the fu-" I almost finished speaking as I was flattened by the 16 wheeler.
