Chapter 35: Disrupting an ambush(2)

I took a moment to catch my breath and recover my stamina, feeling the weight of the intense battle in every gasp. As I looked around, a smile crept across my face. The battlefield was strewn with the lifeless bodies of defeated monsters,we were having the better apparently.....

The cavern echoed with the sounds of battle, clashing weapons, cries of monsters, and the occasional discharge of mana guns. As I took a moment to catch my breath amid the carnage, Baalkaroth's ominous words infiltrated my thoughts

''Hey Favian we may have some problems over here''

I furrowed my brow, a mix of concern and curiosity etched on my face. "What are you talking about?" I questioned, my eyes scanning the battlefield for any signs of a new threat.

Baalkaroth's response sent a shiver down my spine, amplifying the gravity of the situation. "I can feel more monsters coming towards us, and this time, it seems to be a substantial force," he warned, his words lingering in my mind.

A chill ran down my spine as the gravity of the situation sank in. ''They are approaching from the front.'

Swiftly comprehending the potential trap set by that fucker of the dungeon master, I pivoted on my heels and hastened toward one of the sorcerers who was in the process of charging his mana gun.

"Hey, do you have any of those mana torches?" I inquired urgently.

The sorcerer, perplexed by my request, nodded cautiously. "Yes, I've got some," he replied, looking at me in confusion

"Give one to me; it's an emergency," I declared, reaching out my hand.

The sorcerer hesitated for a moment before relinquishing one of the mana torches to me. Infusing it with a surge of mana, I promptly hurled it as far as I could.

As the mana torch sailed through the air, my suspicions were confirmed – we were on the verge of facing a more formidable adversary. The initial ambush seemed to be orchestrated with the weakest and ill-equipped faction of the enemy forces, while the main threat loomed ominously on the horizon, ready to unleash its true might upon us.

And it would have even worked; unfortunately, for that little shit ruling the dungeon, he did not take into account my presence.

I sprinted across the chaotic battlefield, dodging fallen bodies and the clash of weapons, until I reached Victor, who was locked in combat with a troll. As he swung his sword and beheaded the monstrous creature, I urgently shook his shoulder to get his attention.

"Victor!" I called out, trying to catch my breath. He turned towards me, a mixture of exhaustion and determination etched on his face, not realising I did not use honorifics . "We've got a problem. The enemy is coming from the front, and those were nothing more than a decoy."

His expression shifted to one of concern as he barked orders at nearby soldiers to fortify the front lines. "What's wrong?" he asked.

"We need to reposition the mana cannons at the front. They're charging, and we have to stop them " I explained, urgency in my voice.

Victor, already in the midst of giving commands, hesitated for a moment. "They're charging from the front?''

I insisted, "Get the cannon into position and ready to fire. We have to gain as much time as possible allowing them to recharge before letting them shoot. It's our best chance at pushing back the enemy"

As Victor relayed the orders, a tense atmosphere settled over the battlefield. The soldiers scrambled to rearrange the mana cannons, their movements were synchronized with a sense of urgency. The distant roar of the approaching enemy grew louder, and every passing second seemed to carry the weight of impending doom.

The enemy army advanced steadily toward us, a disciplined force of goblins, trolls, and various low-level monsters. Unlike the initial decoy, these creatures were properly armed and armored, presenting a more formidable threat. I couldn't help but acknowledge that this was how an army should be equipped.

In response to the approaching threat, the princess and Victor took the front lines, recognizing that it was the side that needed the most assistance. Their presence infused a surge of morale among our troops, rallying them to face the impending onslaught, after all the princess and the commander were fighting on the front line so it was a given , that morale increased exponentially for the common soldiers.

Observing the scene, I spotted the fallen goblin's sword on the ground. With a swift move, I picked it up, a makeshift addition to my weaponry after all how was I supposed to fight with only a dagger? Alongside other soldiers, I equipped my mana gun, preparing for the impending clash.

As the enemy army approached, our soldiers knelt in three disciplined rows, displaying a show of unity and discipline. I turned back to witness the sight, a faint smile on my face, as I commented, "Apparently, these are our soldiers."

"Alright, boys, let's show these bastards the way to hell, shall we?" I exclaimed with a laugh, my devilish grin widening as I pointed my gun, they knew who I was so my orders were law for them

"Shoot!" I roared, unleashing a torrent of mana bullets towards the approaching enemy.

The first rows erupted with the thunderous sound of unleashed mana, the bullets tearing through the enemy's armor and sending them crashing to the ground. However, the approaching force, undeterred, picked up speed.

Just like we had drilled the rows of soldiers that just shot, quickly got out of the way, allowing the three rows before them to do the same.

As more rows of guns unleashed their deadly mana, the battlefield transformed into a symphony of chaos. The enemy writhed and convulsed, their tortured screams filling the air. Green blood spurted from their grievous wounds, staining the ground beneath them. The very air resonated with the haunting melody of their agonizing cries, echoing through the cavernous expanse of the dungeon, music to my ear.

"Discard your mana guns! Grab your shields and swords!" I bellowed at the men. "Don't let a single one of those bastards pass! Hold the line!" I emphasized the urgency, my voice cutting through the chaos. Taking a resolute stance, I prepared myself for the impending charge, determined to stand firm against the onslaught.

The soldiers obeyed like they had, as after all they were the soldiers of my father so I had command over them , a small boom of being noble; deciding the life of those below you.....

The two armies clashed and chaos took hold of the battle, the screams of both monsters and humans echochoing through the cavern . The clash of swords, the thud of shields, and the visceral sounds of combat dominated the air as the struggle for dominance unfolded.

And I was in the middle of this hell...
