Chapter 5

The next morning, Edward woke up earlier than the night before, his mind and body still aching from the fear his mother had instilled in him.

However strangely he felt energetic, as if upon waking up his body was already fully awake.

He then got up calmly before heading to the bathroom while being careful not to wake up his brothers and sister.

'The advantage of being hated by my brothers and sisters is that I have my own room… Even if it remains the smallest in the house'

Arriving in the bathroom, Edward saw his bucket of water empty, the night before he had not had time to fill it.

Sighing, Edward left the house, heading for the well to wash his face.

As he walked to the well, he met his father on the way home with a bucket of water in his hand.

"What are you doing out so early in the morning?"

Edward pointed to the bucket his father was carrying "I forgot to fill my bucket yesterday."

His father nodded silently and gently placed his hand on Edward's head before continuing on his way home.

Edward's father was never good with words but he was always a comforting presence to Edward and his brothers.

Before he leaves, Edward turns to him "By the way, I'm going out today too, please tell mum."

His father turned to him silently and after a few seconds he nodded "Don't stray from the village"

Finally he quietly made his way home, leaving Edward alone.

Edward walked towards the well 'It's still early, I'll go to Paul's later, before that I have to do something...'

After washing his face, Edward headed for the stream that crosses the village, precisely he headed for a small apple tree that grew next to this stream.

Under the shade of the apple tree, Edward stood for a few moments before smacking his cheeks. 'Go no need to be afraid, Rudeus does it every day for a long time!'

Finally Edward looked at the sun, estimating the time at 7:00 a.m., he then began to chant.

"Oh blessing of water, offer your abundance and spread grace through your stream, Water Ball!"

This time again, no results… Edward sighed and braced himself for the pain, however this time the pain didn't start in his heart, instead his whole body was in pain except his heart.

Edward's eyes widened, the pain was so great he couldn't even cry out, Edward felt his blood boiling in his veins, however it wasn't a metaphor, looking down at his forearms, his veins looked literally burnt .

'I-I remember in the anime magic seemed to move through Rudeus' veins, is this process happening to me in some weird way?? but why does it hurt so much!?'

Eventually Edward passed out again, he crashed softly onto the grass, his veins still seeming to glow as if a fire was burning within them.

Finally after a few seconds, his veins lost their color and a small ball of water formed on Edward's hand, flying quickly towards the stream.

Some time later, Edward woke up, rubbing his eyes he looked around in surprise.

Finally he remembered the last events and looked quickly at his forearms before sighing in relief.

'Fortunately my veins have returned to their original color… The pain is also gone.'

Edward stood up quickly and brushed the dust off his clothes, looking up at the sky searching for the position of the sun.

'Oh it's almost 10 o'clock!'

He had slept for about 3 hours and yet his body felt great, in fact he had never felt better…

Edward then closed his eyes, a strange feeling instinctively told him to do so, after a few seconds with his eyes closed, Edward felt a strange energy within him.

It's mana!'

Instinctively, Edward recognized this energy as mana, however no matter how he looked at it, his mana reserves seemed agonizingly small.

To verify his theory Edward held out his hand in front of him and swallowed heavily.

"Oh blessing of water, offer your abundance and spread grace through your stream, Water Ball!"

Instantly his mana pool emptied close to its limit leaving Edward staggering.

This time, Edward felt no pain, on the contrary he felt good.

A ball of water is well formed in front of Edward's hand before flying up to the sky.

Edward sat down heavily on the floor. 'Now I'm sure I can use magic but I can only use one spell… Water Ball'

The feeling in his body when he activated the magic felt like perfection, his magic flowing through his body from his heart to his veins in the most natural way possible, causing Water Ball magic to be beyond his abilities. .

Edward closed his eyes and thought for a few minutes.
