16 Chapter 16 Hamado Akira makes his move

Sudo Akira stood outside his school and was about to leave for his home in a hurry when he saw two guys standing before him. One was someone he didn't know while the other was someone he was scared of.

It was Kudo Shinichi and Haruto Tachibana. Not knowing what was happening Sudo looked at Haruto as if questioning him.

"Sudo Akira-san, I am Kudo Shinichi. I am just here to ask a few questions about your girlfriend's death".

Sudo was caught off-guard by this question and his face turned pale from fright but he quickly his it.

"Who the fuck are you? Why the fuck would I tell anything to you? Fuck off and I don't have a girlfriend".

Sudo roughly pushed Kudo and walked away while internally screamed at his bad luck. Panicking that things were moving out of control especially after seeing the small strip of video from his blackmailer indicating someone's presence inside his room Sudo called his father and explained what had happened and even mentioned how he got cornered at the school gate by a guy called Kudo Shinichi and Haruto Tachibana.

Hamado instantly figured out Haruto's identity and asked his secretary to check up on Kudo Shinichi while asking his son to go back to their house and wait for him.

Hamado then called his connections within the police headquarters.

"Hello Hamado-san it's been a while. What can I help you with".

"Tsuchida-kun, it's nothing big. This new case which is creating ruckus, I just called to ask the status of the investigation".

"It is still an ongoing investigation, Hamado-san and I don't really know what is the current status but we should know within the next few days. Is there something wrong?".

"Well it's like this, the police who have been investigating the case are harassing my son. It seems like my son was the victim's boyfriend but they had long broken it off. So I would appreciate it if you could have a word with them, afterall my son is just 16 years. And the other thing is something which is disturbing. The Beika Police department seems to be leaking case information to some random high school kid who calls himself a detective. He also tried to harass my son at his school.

And who is this Kudo kid anyway".

"Oh!! Something like that had happened. You don't have to worry Hamado-san I'll have a word with the Beika MPD. It seems like they have been given way too much freedom that they forgot things like protocol. As for this Kudo kid, Hamado-san need not worry. He is just some highschool kid who calls himself detective. He won't give you anymore trouble after this".

"Thank you Tsuchida-kun. Well I am a concerned citizen and this case has raised a lot of eye balls by the media and the people of Beika are expecting a swift justice. We cannot have police officers breaking protocol and having the culprit escape on a technicality".

"You are absolutely right Hamado-san. I'll make sure such things don't happen in the future".

"Yeah, we need more police officers like you Tsuchida-kun. How about it. You must be having it tough leaving your hometown. I'll help you with it. How does being appointed as the next Superintendent of Beika. Though it might seem like a demotion to you who is in the headquarters but rather than swiming with a bunch of shark it's better to be the shark in the small pond. We can have more control and power".

"Oh!! Sounds enticing Hamado-san. How about I think more about this offer".

"Well think about this. In the coming years Beika will face more changes and it will be good for your future to stay close to the winning side. You know about our leader, he always ensures to give his allies tenfold benefits".

"Yes, Hamado-san I have heard of it. In any case I'll make sure no one else trouble you again".

With that the call gets disconnected. What followed that was a call to the Beika MPD from Tokyo MPD top brass and they had directly suspended superintendent for breaking protocol and threatening to overhaul the entire MPD if they ever tried to accept services from Kudo Shinichi or any high schooler.

Matsumoto immediately knew that this was not Kudo's mistake but most likely he had figured out the culprit and unfortunately the culprit seemed to have a lot of power within the goverment.

It had not even been fifteen minutes where Kudo and Haruto were walking towards Kudo's house when he got a call from someone he least expected. Normally the person who called him from Beika MPD was Inspector Megure, but this time it was Superintendent Matsumoto.

"Kudo-kun, I want you to stop your investigation. We had just received a call from Tokyo MPD and I have been suspended because I used you for investigation and we have been asked to cut any and all times we have with you".

Kudo's mind melted. He couldn't believe something like this happened. The people here stopped him from doing the thing he loved the most.

"What happened Matsumoto-san?".

"Well who did you question this time?".

"It was Sudo Akira and to be honest he reacted very violently and judging by his facial expression he is most likely the culprit".

"Well is that Sudo Akira someone with a background?".

"Yes, he is. He is Hamado Akira, the dietician's son".

"Well that's the thing. I just recieved a call from the top brass of Tokyo MPD asking us to close the case ASAP and not to go anywhere near Hamado-san's son".

"Is this the decision of the entire Tokyo MPD?".

"No, it was from the supervisory officer of Tokyo MPD who is responsible for overseeing the police officers following protocol and rules. Though sounding tedious they are people who tend to have ots of power and could sack entire teams if they find the officers not following the rules.

Well you don't have to worry about the other one. I still have a bit of power and your help all these years will never go unnoticed. But you cannot investigate this case anylonger".

The call was cut but Kudo kept quiet while in deep thought.

"What happened?" Haruto asked to which Kudo explained the call in detail.

"Heh, to think he would move this fast. Well with this we are certain that he is guilty. Unfortunately without proof it is impossible to accuse him. So what are you going to do? Don't tell me that you are giving up".

"No, I'll never give up and I won't let him walk away after doing something like this. Well thank you for accompanying me Haruto-san but I'll investigate it by myself".

With that Kudo took off while shaking his hand as if to say goodbye to Haruto.

Haruto himself made his way to the gym and trained for 1 hour before going to the cram school.

Like he had expected Sudo skipped the classes. As per his phone GPS he was in his house. Taking out his transceiver he checked Kudo's whereabouts and found that he was out and was moving quite fast towards the east of Beika.

"This guy really plans to sneak in to investigate. He really never gives up".

Meanwhile Kudo who was taking the subway had a grim face.

He had tried to hack into Sudo's phone and found out that the phone was already hacked in by someone and this threw his plans of investigating the call logs and mails. Now he has planned to sneak in to investigate more clues and to try and find incriminating evidence on the guy.

Meanwhile in the industrial area of Beika, the security has been beefed up with police, fire trucks and factory inspectors crawling the area. The fake sabotage had created a ruckus inside the city and even public safety officers were present to ensure everything was alright.

Kudo was shocked to see the amount of officers in this part and asked one of the payment what had happened and got to know about the Chlorine gas leak which had turned out to be fake yet due to the scariness of the situation the officers were present to ease out tension amongst people.

Looking at this Kudo damn nearly gave up on his investigation and decided to blend in the surroundings to see if he could gather info. He also got interested in the gas leak and decided to check it out while he was at it.
