Chapter 27: Tropical Madness!

"Eeeeeeeh? Totally!?" This is my overreaction to Amphy's words.

Thirty minutes before the second round of the tournament. Amphy and I has been really noisy in front of the restroom here the backstage. At least no one can hear us talking here. Amphy just told me the story on how he miraculously escaped in that hellish Chevalier Unit Compound. When he talked about Richard being alive, I first thought he was joking. But there's no way that he is.

He didn't know what kind of dragon Richard is. I never told him. But based on what he said about the floating ball of lights, the more I'm convinced on his silly story.

"Err…I don't know, totally…" I scratched my cheek softly. "You're the one who saw him die on Kyle Leviticus' sword, right?"

"Yeah, but Brow saw it too. He was certainly struck in the heart. As far as I remember, that is." Amphy said worriedly. "But we failed to recover his body."

That's right. At that time, when we first made the pact of the Vesryn Pulse, we were ambushed by the Pentagram Knights. We're so tired at that time that we ended up rescued by Estoff. Brow was also rescued by Estoff when he was impaled to the ground. That means Estoff is the one subject to the question.

"Maybe I'll ask Estoff about it later." I smiled at my cute knight, trying to cheer him up. "We should focus more on this upcoming fight of ours, totally!"

"Yes, you're right!" Amphy's mood immediately changed. His eyes now reveals a will of fire as he raised his fist, preparing for a fistbump. "Let's do this!"

As soon as I returned a fistbump, our names have been called by the emcee. The crowd went wild! Totally!

"The first fight for this Sunday will be Amphere Harrison and Maya Bullwick!"

Maya Bullwick is a petite woman with brown hair. She looks like a fifteen-year old girl who had her hair braided by her mother. She's cute, but not half as cute as me! Totallly! Her dragonoid is a tall tan man who is wearing a red-and-white cap. This guy looks like he came from a tropical country overseas.

The two knights stood in front of each other in this dusty arena. They installed the shield plates on their left part of the chest, and unsheathed their weapons. Our opponent knight is wielding dual scimitars, and her dragonoid partner is wielding a…toilet paper. Maybe it's a scroll or something, if I'm mistaken.

"Let the battle begin!" The crowd roared as the signal for the start of this battle went in!

The enemy dragonoid made the first attack! He stripped pieces of napkin from his roll (I told you it was a toilet paper) and threw it towards me! He used those as a literal shuriken! I waltzed to the left and right to evade those silly weapons as I close my distance to him!

Multiple clanks echoed through the area. Amphy and Maya are having an intense swordfight like those in the pirate movies. Amphy is quite troubled because he's only using one photon saber as of the moment. He can't block the scimtars easily so Amphy decided to evade the incoming slashes and hacks. But even so, he can't just evade those attacks easily, which made the opponent chip off some of his shield power.

As for me, I don't have any trouble in my enemy. Those tissue shurikens are way easy to dodge and block. Besides, photon sabers cut through like knife and well…napkins. I managed to close in the distance.

Unlike us dragonoids, we are not protected by Shield Plates. A single slash might be fatal, so I decided to punch him right to the nose, which made him immediately fall to the ground.

"Max!" the opponent knight grunted as she dashed away from Amphy and rushed to her injured dragonoid. "Stand up! You have to keep fighting!"

I went back to Amphy's side to watch the scenario. As soon as Max the tissue guy was back on his feet, his knight reached her flat-chested torso and shouted with a blazing spirit! "Activating Vesryn Pulse!"

The enemy dragon is a green gecko which is standing in two feet. It is a seven-meter lizard without any wings, but there is a set of leaf-blades on its arms. It has a tail of a literal coconut tree. On its back are six eggs or something, but it looks like a coconut to me. It is a Coco Dragon, if I were to name it. Unfortunately, it is called a Tropica Dragon.

"Amphy." I called his attention. I wanted to transform and ride on me (I think I want him to ride on me even in humanoid form. Just kidding! Totally!) but he seem to be hesitant.

"Requesting Heightened Clearance." Amphy said to me.

Futuretech Dragonoids like me have a limiter installed to us, which are called Clearance Systems. Unlocking a clearance layer will grant our dragon knight access to our latent powers. This will mean Amphy will borrow my powers just as powerful as Rudolf's Chaos Claw and Reina's Fairy Arrow.

I quite agree to Amphy's idea. I'm kind of out of mood to fight right now. Besides, I did all the fight last time in this tournament. This is your chance to show off your true power, Amphy! Show that Duchess Carousel what she wanted to see!

"Heightened Clearance Authorized! Totally!" I replied to him with a jolly tone.

Four homing drones boosted out from his back and floated beside Amphy, and flew freely around him in a perplexed manner like bees protecting their beehive. These drones are colored the same way as our photon sabers; glasslike with a white laser lining around it. They all look like a floating edge of a sword without a hilt. But these drones are not just your ordinary drones. They are controlled automatically by the instinct of Amphy. They are called Dynamos.

The Tropica Dragon shoots hundreds of scimitar-shaped leaf blades from its arms! But the dynamos never ignored it! It fired tiny laser beams that roasted the incoming leaf scimitars! But the grassy dragon's attack didn't stop there!

Giant green claws smashed in front of my beloved knight. He jumped up, completely dodging the dragon's fist. The dragon's claw dug the hard dusty ground, making it hard for it to pull off. Amphy rushed forward, using the dragon's stuck arm as a ladder to reach the enemy knight. Maya readied her scimtars, but the dynamos never gave her a chance! It fired of lasers that made the scimitars flew in the air!

Amphy's saber glowed in white light, and then he surged with a wonderful speed that naked eye wouldn't see! He left a white streak due to his agility breaking the sound barrier as he pushed through the photon saber on the enemy's shield plate!

"Wha-!!!" That was the only word Maya released from her mouth. When she realized that Amphy's sword finally reached her, her Shield Plate is already at 0%.

The buzzer came in with a deafening sound, and then the emcee finally proclaimed.

"The first match has been decided! The winner is Amphere Harrison! What a fantastic speed from our winner!"

As soon as Amphy went to my side, he made a big sigh. The dynamos immediately went back to his back and dissolved like bubbles. And then Amphy smiled at me like a child who won a candy. "I did it!"

"Amphy!" I jumped to him and hugged him tight, pushing my breast purposely to his face. "You totally did it!"

When we went back to the backstage, the Duchess Carousel and Estoff congratulated us. Unlike before, the duchess was really proud of him in this fight. She even shook Amphy's hand without having any gloves, for the very first time. It seems like the duchess is beginning to like my Amphy!

Estoff immediately cut off our celebration and revealed a letter to us.

"Amphere. This is for you. From Richard."
