Chapter 4: Dawn of the Futuretech Dragon

What happened to a Dragon Knight's honor? Does Kyle doesn't have that anymore? He just mercilessly killed a weak dragonoid in front of my eyes. He didn't even try to negotiate! Are all the magazines and comments about him forged?

Brow has been impaled to the ground by the sword that has been struck by the dragon knight on his shoulders. He can't move because of the pain. After dealing with the grizzly-looking dude, the dragon knight named Kyle rushed to the underground path to chase the fleeing dragonoids.

The beautiful golden haired woman immediately rushed to me. She held my arms and checked for any injuries but I am completely fine. This filthy dragonoid… is a disgrace. I don't know if she's wearing a mask to be this comfortable at me…she shouldn't let her guard down!

"Are you okay?" she asked.

I grabbed the sword beside Richard and then made a slash to the dragonoid! The golden haired dragonoid managed to evade but her clothes has been sliced. It revealed the upper part of her chest. As I thought, dragonoids are weakest if their dragon knights are not with them. They don't have the ability to transform into dragon form on their own. Aside from that, I have learned from magazines that Elumina is not a battle type dragon. She specializes in healing!

I wordlessly glared at her. She made a sorry face, but that's not the deal right now. I have to go after that damn dragon knight!

"Amphere, follow Airelina!" Brow shouted. "I'll be okay!"

I will do it even if you didn't tell me. My top priority is Airelina's safety, and no one else's! I raced through the underground path like hell. I have to stop the dragon knight from massacring those poor dragonoids! I have to save…

"Airelina…"

I… Why am I doing this? Why am I going to defend a terrorist!? Is it because she helped me? Is it because she is my first dragonoid friend? Is it because of her adorable smile? Is it because it was the dying wish of Richard!? I don't know! All that matters is…

"Airelina…Airelina…Airelina…Airelina…"

I kept muttering her name until I reached light; the surface. There were tall buildings everywhere. There were no people in this place maybe because of the bomb threat. I looked left, right. Where is Airelina!?

"Kya!" there was a faint shout. Without thinking twice, I dashed forward to the source of the sound and then, I finally saw her.

She was crucified by knifes that has impaled her palms and shoulders to the wall. Her leather clothes has been torn and stained with blood. She was being tormented by the dragon knight with a cold stare, Kyle Leviticus!

"I'll ask you again before I put this knife to your chest. Where are the dragonoids?" Kyle asked blandly.

"Get away from her!" I made a thrust with Richard's sword.

The dragon knight immediately stepped back and grabbed the blade while having his finger avoid the edges then threw it upward to disarm me. He made a roundhouse kick to my left neck which resulted me being knocked down.

"A…Amphere…" Airelina called my name in a faint voice. She was just a meter beside me, yet I can't reach her.

When the dragon knight turned around, I immediately stood up and rushed to Airelina! I grabbed the knife that has been keeping her pinned on the wall then stabbed it to the dragon knight! Too bad, he managed to block it with his arms, which blood sprayed to my face.

He stepped back, and withdrew another slim sword from his waist. He made a straight line hack, but I luckily managed to block it with the knife I was holding! There was another attack, a thrust directing to my chest! But I parried it away using the knife!

My body has been constantly moving like I'm not the one using it. This is my first brutal fight, but I managed to block impressive blows from a dragon knight!

There was another slash again, but I blocked it perfectly. Then another, then another. The last attack was a thrust but I evaded it by sidestepping, but then the cold knight made a straight kick to my stomach. I fell down in pain.

His eyes glared at me, telling me that this is the end of my life. A chill was brought to my spine. Am I going to die here!?

"Hyaaaaa!"

Airelina, with her sword, scythed the dragon knight who immediately stepped back to evade the attack. Then, Airelina grabbed me and dunked me on her soft chest. I was about to complain, but then she dashed away carrying me to flee from that overpowered dragon knight.

"Amphere…You totally…" She made an adorable smile. She looks cute, even though her face looked battered.

My heart has been beating fast and nonstop. I felt a burning sensation in my chest, but it was never painful. Instead, it was an enrapturing feeling. It was because of her…the crimson haired dragonoid who lightened up my world.

Suddenly our chest glowed with golden light. Airelina began chanting words deep below from her heart.

"I wish to become Amphere Harrison's wings

To be the protector of my knight

To be his guiding light

In his darkest night

To be the proof of his power and might!"

"Activating Vesryn Pulse"

Our body was covered with white veil of light. It inflated and enlarged, and reshaped itself to a seven meter dragon. When the light faded out, I found myself on top of the head of a platinum dragon.

She is not just an ordinary black dragon. She was covered with cybernetic enhancements and metal armor that she looked more like a robot. Her scales are mostly metallic dark matte but the center of her body and also her wings are colored white. She has a row of bony plates along her back which are colored gold.

She is…

"Futuretech Dragon, a dragon that has access to advanced engineering of the future…totally! "

The voice directly entered to my brain. It was telepathy. It seems like our minds are connected.

She then dashed forward gaining a Mach speed as we soar to the wide blue skies. The Dragon Knight chased us but he got swept away by the shockwave and the sonic boom, leaving him unconscious.

The wind shoved on my face like water, making a refreshing sensation. My heart has been pounding for this very enthralling moment! There's no better feeling like flying with a person who trusts you! This is the power of our connected hearts! This is…

"Am I? That's totally flattering! Thanks! By the way, how is Brow and Richard?"

My smile immediately faded as she said those words. I bowed down and closed my eyes.

"Brow is still stuck in the power plant while Richard…he's gone…"

There was a strong and long silence as she hovers on top of the building. I can't see any hint of expression in her dragon form, but I can feel that her heartbeat slowdown. We are attempting to escape from the dragon knight but now that Airelina knows everything, she will definitely go back to the power plant and rescue anyone. She turned around and dashed forward to the direction of the power plant.

"The dragonoids who were held captive in the power plant are totally safe. They took a truck earlier and I served as a diversion to make the escape plan a success…But having both Arcadia members dying makes this plan a failure… I have to rescue Brow at least…I hope you understand."

"I understand." I said.

Then everything happened in an instant.

Five dragons from every direction emerged that came from underground. Fire, earth, water, wind, and shadow dragons. They are being ridden by Dragon Knights of the Imperial army. This is a trap! There's nothing we can do about this!

"Fire!" One of the knights shouted.

The five dragons charged different colored beams on their mouth, and then released it to our direction. We were directly hit and a loud explosion from the skies echoed throughout the city.
