CHAPTER 359: Oh How She Missed Them

She was breathing heavily as she hid behind a cliff.

When she opened her eyes, she found herself in a place filled with nothing but darkness. The soil was the same and even the plants were dead.

There was nothing around her other than demonic beasts.

And yes, the moment she opened her eyes, she found herself being surrounded by a hoard of demonic beasts, all hungry looking at her as if she was the most delicious meal in front of them.

Without her sword, all she could do was to use her powers in order to fight them off but to her dismay they were endless. Her mana was rapidly declining and she knew using it will only bring her, her demise.

In the end, she started running away as well as hiding while looking for a suitable weapon to use against them.

As she ran, she looked around in order to analyze her current situation.

She realized that it was quite grave, there was no way for her to replenish her mana and everything around her was inedible to her.

It was even difficult to find any way out as she was completely surrounded by demonic beasts.

She also realized that she is a walking light bulb at this place.

She was too bright!!!

Causing her more difficulties when she does not hide her body properly, these demonic beasts will find her easily.

At first, devastation actually filled her heart.

Just what is wrong with this kind of situation?

She just finished a battle that drained her as a whole, emotionally, mentally and physically.

And then for some amazing reason she was thrown into this place.

Added to it was the fact that Lily and Vermilion Bird were not inside her. And she couldn't connect with them either, she was completely lost.

She jumped to the side when a blast came to the cliff.

Clicking her tongue she fought against the demonic flying beasts that appeared.

She has a modified weapon with her, a bow and arrow and a sword.

Yes, she actually found a dilapidated sword. She re-enforced it with her light and fire ability allowing her to have a sword that is close to her family sword.

But it also meant that her mana has depleted even more.

But as time goes by, there are more things she has realized, allowing her to know that she will surely survive.

"Why don't you just give up?"

"…"

Saphira's brows twitched when someone spoke while she was fighting and fleeing at the same time.

And yes, with everything that is going on, she also encountered something else.

Someone or something that kept talking to her in a negative way, trying to dissuade her from fighting back.

Even though she tried talking to this per- well whatever this entity is, it won't leave her alone.

"There's nothing you can do here. You will die no matter what."

"…"

And what baffles Saphira more was the fact that even though this entity kept telling her that she will die, it was not attacking her at all.

It continued staying in the dark that no matter what Saphira does, she couldn't find it anywhere. Or could she pinpoint the location of where it kept whispering to her.

"Just stop strug-"

*WHOOSH*

"Hmmm, it seems I came close," Saphira spoke as she once again slid down another hole in the ground.

It was not a rabbit hole but a little cave, one needs to slide in order to get in, but the inside is spacious enough to accommodate a person.

"…"

She knew it was there, no matter where she hides, this entity kept finding her so she knew that it was there.

But it must have been too shocked at the sharpened wood she threw towards it.

She scoffed as she brought out a beast body.

"You are eating that?!?" it has returned.

"What of it? You kept asking that even though you had been seeing me do it all this time," she laughed, creating a fire in order to cook it.

"How disgusting."

"…"

Saphira's lips twitched.

'Do you think I didn't know? I was disgusted by it from day 1. But what can I do? If I want to survive, I need to eat and drink.'

And yes, the water in this place is filthy and was filled with miasma but Saphira was drinking it.

"You say you don't want to give up but isn't this the same as giving up in your life?"

In the past, this entity would only speak one sentence or two before disappearing but as time went by, it started speaking more and more until the two of them reached this point.

"Who knows," she answered as she started eating the roasted "meat".

She may be eating but she was also crying inside, she missed real meals so much. Those that Ridge would cook, oh how she missed them.

She didn't even know just how long she had been here. All she knows is she eats when she feels hungry, she rests when she is tired.

But alas, she still couldn't find a way to get out of here.

A sigh escaped her lips.

As she did, she heard a scoff.

"Could it be that you are thinking that people will come for you?"

Saphira's playful look instantly disappeared.

"What of it?"

"Have I hit the nail in the head?"

The tone of the entity became confident upon seeing changes in her.

"That's why I am asking, what is it to you?"

Saphira stood up, feeling that those beasts had pinpointed her location once again.

She heard a condescending laugh, "Go on and dream, you will die without seeing even a strand of their hair."

"Sometimes I wonder if you are an enemy or not," Saphira commented.

"…"

Another explosion came to Saphira and once again she was faced with a new batch of demonic beasts.

To be honest, she too was feeling tired.

How many has she killed? How long has she been running?

She didn't know and she really didn't wish to keep count.

"Do you know how long you've been here when it comes to your time?"

"…"

But well, obviously the entity just has to speak.

Saphira really wished she could pull this one out and pummel it close to death. Then she wished she could heal it again and pummel it again. That would be a wonderful payback for doing this to her.

"It has been three months. THREE LONG MONTHS!!!"

Then a resounding laugh came upon Saphira's ear.

Even though it sounded close, Saphira knew it was but an illusion and that it was not close to her at all.

But upon hearing the amount of time she spent here, she couldn't help but to laugh as well.

As she did, the other laugh stopped.

Because of how her laugh sounded, not in despair but finding something funny instead.

"Do you not believe me?" it asked.

"No, I do. It is something-"

She had to stop talking and focus as three demonic beasts came to her at the same time.

Once she found time to breathe again, she continued talking.

"It is something else that made me laugh."

There was even a smile on her lips.

She did not continue and kept fighting while looking for a way out of the encirclement in order to run.

"What?"

Somehow this entity was unable to hold back its curiosity.

"Three months is quite too short. After all, I waited 8 years just to be with them again. Do you think three months will shatter me? You should be the one who should dream on."

Saphira laughed again as she slaughtered her way out of the encirclement.

The way she smiles while she fights looks like what she was enjoying was the slaughter.

"..."

The entity was rendered speechless, it had been trying so hard to shatter this person's heart but why is it that it was the one being swayed instead?

Saphira did not think much about the reaction of the entity.

Three months may be a long time but as someone who patiently waited and never gave up, three months is still short.

And the thought that 3 months was the only time that passed, she felt invigorated, because all along she felt that it has already been more than half a year.

"I don't know who you are or what you are but since I am in a good mood let me tell you this."

Finally, she was able to break through.

She kept going from one place to another looking for an underground location where she could have a longer rest.

"..."

"I can feel it, with my whole being, that those guys are doing everything they can to come here. And the bond we have is stronger than mere words coming from something I couldn't see at all."

Saphira turned to a side where she felt like someone was watching her even though there was nothing there but a span of land.

She did not know that she actually faced the entity at this moment, an entity that is both transparent and dark.

It was as if it was trying to blend in with the darkness of the surrounding.

And her words caused its whole being to tremble.

'Bonds.'
