Jervaintus dons a small emblem of the Jyus Society, his new job begins. He walks through the solemn hallways of the castle and inadvertently bumps into someone which causes him to drop on the floor. He shakes it off and apologizes to the other person as he helps them up. His eyes go wide as he recognizes this person.

"Hey sexy." He holds in his laughter.

The woman looks back at him with the same expression on her face.

"Jervaintus, is that you?" She responds.

The two have a laugh as they embrace each other.

"The hell are you doing here for?" Sirena asks.

"You know, learning more about these demons and finding stronger opponents to fuck with." Jervaintus smirks with pride.

"I'm guessing you're summoned to help me on my mission." She tells him.

"Wait a minute, what do you do again?" He asks confused.

"I'm an assassin, you idiot." She pokes his forehead with reckless abandon.

They proceed to go into the throne room of Joventrius and report in. He explains that he has found the cult leader who is responsible for summoning the abyss demons. He goes on a tirade that God will bless them for doing this act, which Jervaintus straight up ignores.

Jervaintus and Sirena formulates a plan for the mission. A man doning a blue and gold robe walks past them. Sirena instintively hides behind Jervaintus. The man walks past them as he is greeted by the other guards. Jervaintus turns and looks at Sirena confused,

"What was that about?" He asks.

"That is Magister Layson. Right hand puppet of Joventrius. He's been eyeing me ever since I got here like a creep." She clenches her fist and punches the wall.

"Let's head for the mission site and make a plan once we're there." Jervaintus suggests.

They leave the Jyus capital of Jyus-Shin and venture towards the mountains near Vhentas, in the northern most part of the world known as Myreia. They stop near the town of Neh'Sung along the way to purchase gear for the mission.

They spend the night at the local inn. Jervaintus pays in advance and heads to their room and finds Sirena laying on the bed in her underwear which leaves him stunned. Her dark green hair draped across the pillow. She notices and turns towards him,

"You see something you like?" She teases him

"The bed." Jervaintus sarcastically replies.

Sirena rolls her eyes and plays along,

"Yes, this bed is oh so comfortable. I knew there was a reason you asked for a double bed room." She covers herself in a blanket now.

"Anyways, what are you doing with the Jyus?" He sits besides her.

"Same as you, getting some money to get out of this forsaken world. More and more demons appear every day." She explains to him.

"I see. I don't have any plans after I keep beating stronger people so…would you mind if I join you?" His voice trembles slightly as he says that and hides his face in shame.

"I was excited to see how far you've come since you got sold off into the Hozran army but I'm kinda glad you're still shy whenever we're alone." She pokes his cheeks and teases him further.

The two sleep the night off and then travel into the nearby mountains. As night falls, they see light from a camp not far away from where they are. They go to investigate and discover the same cultists Jervaintus fought before in the monastery.

"This could be where the fucks are hiding." Jervaintus whispers.

The two hide deeper in the bushes. They see a cultist doned in an even more elaborate robe, lined with gold and silver and a very expensive looking ceremonial staff and a gem that resembles a demon's eye.

"He couldn't get more obvious." Sirena coats her throwing knife in a poison.

Jervaintus looks at her,

"What's that?" He observes closely.

"It's a strong poison, once it spreads into his bloodstream, he'll get paralyzed and the toxins eat away his body from the inside out." She admires her work as she places it back in its sheath.

"We'll take out the people at the entrance and then sneak our way in." She suggests.

They wait out for an hour and then execute their plan. They managed to sneak behind the guard to the door and dispatch of them silently and hide their bodies within the bushes nearby. They strip them of their robes and equip it.

They enter the cave system and use the cover of darkness to help them locate the cult leader. Jervaintus whispers a suggestion to Sirena's ear, which causes her to give him a questionable look.

They proceed to silently kill the cultists in small rooms as they make their way into a grand hall where a group of elite cultists are communing together before their leader. In between them is a large summoning circle and a pile of dead bodies on it. They start chanting in the same old language as before.

Jervaintus removes his robes and walks up to the cultists with a confident stride as he draws his blade. The cultist spout curses at him as Jervaintus plays along and revels at it before proceeding to decapitate the cultist closest to him. Sirena looks on and sighs in disappointment and she aims to throw her poisoned knife at the leader.

As the battle started to heat up, Jyus soldiers lead by Magister Layson invade the room.

"In the name of God, slaughter these evil cultists!" He inspires his soldiers forward.

Jervaintus turns around, insulted at this farce. He stares down Layson who stares at Sirena with an arrogant look on his face. The soldiers disrupt the summoning as they slaughter the cultists. With one wave of his hand, Layson fires off a powerful fireball that incinerates the cultist leader at the touch.

"What's the point of asking us to take him out if you're gonna swoop in like a pathetic vulture to take all the credit? Eh?" Jervaintus questions Layson.

Layson chuckles,

"You may be a great soldier, Jervaintus, but you've no clue on how this world works." He explains.

"We, the Jyus Society, are God's chosen." He preaches.

"Or some narcissistic ass-kissing cunt." Jervaintus cuts him off.

Layson flinches at the comment and gives him the death stare,

"Pardon?" His voice resonates with anger.

"I can see it in your eyes…" Jervaintus points out.

The tension grows within the room, the soldiers clear out and leave the three alone.

"You're the type of person who cares nothing else but his personal gains. You would use anyone until their purpose is fulfilled, and then you discard them like trash." He leans back and crosses his arms.

"I suggest you hold your tongue. I am Magister while you are a lowly mercenary." He leaves, stomping loudly as he does so.

"This won't sit well with Joventrius." Sirena warns Joventrius.

"Man, I was hoping to fight the guy." He walks out with her.

"That's asking for suicide." She hits him in the back of the head.

Jervaintus shrugs,

"I don't know but whenever I fight somebody stronger than me, my blood runs wild. I like when there's overwhelming odds going against me." He explains to her with excitement.

The psychotic look Jervaintus gave Sirena shocked her. Something's definitely changed him when he served in Hozran's armies.

"Also I couldn't help but noticed that you've matured well. Especially your butt." He blurts out.

Or maybe not, Joventrius was still a fool at heart in her eyes.

"I'll spar with you in the mean time, then." She sighs.

They report back to Joventrius about the mission. He is pleased to hear that and goes on his tirade of praising god about them being blessed to succeed which causes Jervantus and Sirena to leave the room.

"Does he always act like this?" Jervaintus leans all over a chair.

"Won't be the last time you hear him either." She does the same on the chair opposite him.

Months passed as they finish mission after mission, with the occasional interference from the Magister. For a time, it seems the demon threat was almost vanquished across the world. However, a bigger threat has emerged.

The kingdoms are being flooded in by reports of a powerful entity and a large force of abyss demons by his side. The rulers have called for a meeting at the Eye of Myreia, the tower that at the center of the continent that looks over all the kingdoms.

The leaders enter the grand hall within the tower. The first to enter was Wittham "The Savvy", ruler of the kingdom of Agnaum, accompanied by his adviser, Dr. Fitzstan. Then came Joventrius who is accompanied by Layson and finally Algis, accompanied by General Durkins. They sit on their tables to discuss a temporary truce to concentrate efforts in wiping out the demons.

It wasn't long before tensions starts to flare, Joventrius attempting to instigate a fight between them. Jervaintus enters the room to their surprise.

"Hey, Durkins." He greets his old friend.

The general looks to him as he returns his greetings.

"How's the Society treating you?" He asks.

"Good enough." He answers.

Joventrius gestures at Jervaintus,

"One of my finest warriors has come here to report the situation." He exclaims.

"The situation's getting dire by the second. The scholars have identified the creature leading the other demons." Jervaintus explains to them.

Joventrius pauses as he basks in his minor victory.

"The one who leads these demons is the Abyss Lord of Shadow, Azeryan." He adds.

The leaders are in shock, especially Joventrius. The demon lords have been defeated years ago. Some powerful being must have brought this one to life, but who.

"Impossible, our ancestors have defeated them long ago." Algis disputes.

"If your sources are to be believed, this isn't a possibility we can ignore." Whittham says.

Jervaintus laughs at their squabble. The others look at him, especially an angry Joventrius.

"Why are you so happy at a time like this? Our ancestors barely defeated these demon lords and now we barely have the same strength!" He shouts.

"Well, I'm curious to find out how long these demon lords stand up against me." Jervaintus pulls out his blade and slides his finger across it.

"As powerful as many claim that you are, you still cannot defeat one of the lords of the abyss." Joventrius smacks the table in anger.

"Well, I can try." He accepts the challenge and leaves the meeting.
