CHAPTER 186
A rip in the fabric of reality tore open the skies above Metropolis, and from the swirling abyss emerged the ominous figure of Darkseid. His towering form cast an imposing shadow upon the city below as he levitated, seemingly unaffected by Earth's gravitational pull. Dark clouds gathered, reflecting the malevolence that accompanied his arrival.
Darkseid hovered above the cityscape, his eyes gleaming with the cold, unyielding power of the Omega Beams. His granite-like skin bore the weight of countless conquests, and the air crackled with the aura of impending doom. With both hands clasped behind his back, the Lord of Apokolips surveyed the destroyed city of Metropolis with a disdainful gaze.
Brilliant beams of otherworldly energy erupted from his eyes, leaving trails of destruction in their wake. A sinister smirk crept across his visage as he unleashed the devastating force of his Omega Beams. Buildings crumbled under the relentless assault, their structures disintegrating into clouds of dust and debris.
The city trembled beneath Darkseid's power as he effortlessly targeted anything that dared to catch his attention. Vehicles were incinerated while in mid-motion, their metallic frames reduced to molten slag. The air echoed with the screams of panic as civilians fled, their attempts to escape the wrath of Darkseid proving futile.
The skies themselves seemed to groan in protest as Darkseid's presence distorted the natural order. The once vibrant cityscape transformed into a nightmarish tableau of destruction, with fires blazing amidst the ruins. The very essence of fear permeated the air, choking the hope out of those who witnessed the cosmic despot's malevolent display.
Darkseid's eyes glowed with a cold, calculating brilliance as he continued his merciless assault. Each sweep of his Omega Beams left a scar on Metropolis, a symbol of his absolute power and the impending darkness that had descended upon Earth.
He continued his assaults of destruction as he awaited an interruption from earth champions, the Justice League.
"Hey, ugly." A voice called out to him from behind but he didn't turn to find out who it was, because he couldn't care less of their identity.
"Giving us the silent treatment ugh!" A second voice exclaimed.
"Never mind, we will get your attention either way." Green Lantern stated as six rocket launchers materialized before him, while Flash disappeared in the opposite direction..
Green Lantern launched all six of them at Darkseid but they all exploded in an instant. He materialized two missile launchers and did just as he had done with the rockets.
Without turning or even batting an eye, Darkseid's Omega beams moved through the air in a zigzag motion, destroying the missiles in their tracks.
The beam didn't stop with the missiles but went in pursuit of Green Lantern who managed to materialize a shield in the nick of time.
Unfortunately, he was unable to defend against the Omega beams and destroyed his shield as the shockwave from the collision sent him down. "Come on Barry, hurry." He muttered.
Darkseid slowly approached Green Lantern, ready to incinerate him with another hazardous beam.
Just as he was about to release the beams and melt off Green Lantern's face, Flash arrived at the scene in time and hit him with a sonic punch.
Considering the effort he put into the punch, it had little effect on Darkseid as he only stumbled backwards. Looking in front of him, he saw Aquaman, Wonder Woman, The Flash and Green Lantern, all ready to fight him in defense of their home planet.
"This must be a bad joke." Darkseid said to them as he looked around. "You dare stand against me without your champion in your midst." He added, taking note of Superman's absence.
"Sorry to disappoint, Superman is unavailable right now. Luckily you have us all to yourself and ready to beat you to a pulp instead." Wonder Woman countered before charging in at Darkseid, leading the attack as everyone jumped into action.

Back at Lex's underground Lab, Cyborg had everything in place and ready to send Darkseid back to Apokolips but the mother box was yet to lock-in on Apokolips.
"I'm out of here." Cyborg said to Lex as his mechanical arm opened up and safely procured the mother box within it.
Headed towards the elevator, Lex called out to him. "Just so you know, I had no involvement in this madness." Lex said, making it crystal clear that he wasn't willing to take responsibility for the consequences of his actions.
His plea fell on deaf ears as Cyborg didn't entertain him even for a moment, but just proceeded to exit the lab without uttering a single word. He was headed to the battlefield so he could help with the fight against Darkseid, taking to the skies as he left LexCorp.
He flew over what he could hardly believe was the city of Metropolis, it was looking more like a war zone now.
Cyborg spotted them in the distance as he bustled through the air, transforming his arm into a destructive blaster as he closed in on them. He took aim at the preoccupied Darkseid and shot an intense laser blast at Darkseid who tanked the blast like it was nothing.
"Hope am not too late." He inquired from no one in particular as he joined the league members in fighting against swarms of Parademons attacking them.
"Right on time." Green Lantern replied to him with a big thumbs up as he rustled at Darkseid, materializing a gigantic fist construct with metal spikes on its knuckles.
Green Lantern slung a solid blow against Darkseid's face, but his construct immediately shattered into pieces upon impact.
Darkseid bitch slapped him to the side like some pest, dispatching Green Lantern through the air as he bashed into a wall and fell to the ground.
"Are you okay?" Flash asked as he extended his hand to help him up.
"Of course I am." Green Lantern replied.
He whisked through the air for another attack. "Let's see how you handle this." He quipped.
As he drew-on Darkseid, a train moving with vigorous force instantaneously materialized around him.
He stood firm against the incoming train and did not make the slightest attempt in eluding it. The train crashed against Darkseid but shattered into many glass-like fragments.
Darkseid grabbed the arm which bore Green Lantern's ring and raised him up in the air.
"Ahhh!!!" Green Lantern screamed in pain as Darkseid crushed his arm, flew to the top of the Daily Planet, then whacked Green Lantern against the monumental golden statue at the top of the building.
"Lantern!!"
Wonder Woman called out in concern as she cut off a parademon's arm and decapitated it on the spot.
Flash ran up there and grabbed Green Lantern as he immediately took him to safety, decamping him from the fight. Wonder Woman made a break for Darkseid with her sword in hand, but he fired his Omega beams at her.
She dodged them as she continued to advance but the Omega beams made a dynamic turn and chased from behind. She made a sharp turn as she brought both hands together and blocked the beams with her bracelets, just at the nick of time.
As she turned around to resume her attack, Darkseid struck her to the ground and started a rush of violent blows, crating the ground with every blow. "I'll ensure you die a painful death, Amazon." He said to her as he raised his hand and landed a heavy blow on her chest.
Aquaman leaped in the air with his trident in hand as he struck Darkseid from behind. His attack proved to be ineffective as his trident bounced off Darkseid's armor.
Darkseid violently kicked Wonder Woman like a soccer ball, dispersing her so he could give Aquaman the attention he seeked.
Aquaman charged in for another attack but was so unfortunate as Darkseid quickly disarmed him of his weapon and stabbed him with his own trident.
He coughed up blood as the trident speared through his torso, and slowly dropped on his knees.
Cyborg was preoccupied with bringing an end to the swarm of parademons which were interrupting their fight against Darkseid, when he saw the bleeding Aquaman drop to the ground.
Cyborg ran a quick scan on his vitals and saw that they were definitely going to lose him if nothing was done on time.
With rage filled eyes, Wonder Woman engaged Darkseid once more, while Flash disappeared with Aquaman who was barely alive at that moment.
"I'm taking him to Central City, hopefully Star Labs might be able to save him." Flash communed with Cyborg and Wonder Woman as he continued his run.
Starting with Green Lantern, their numbers had been reduced to just Cyborg and Wonder Woman. Hopefully Superman, Batman and Martian Manhunter make it on time or else it might spell the end of the League as we know it.
