Threat (Part 1)

Kiel met up with the group at the exact appointed time.

The group followed Lemuel to his hangar and boarded his spaceship.

Lemuel's spaceship was considered the top of the line. One of the most expensive spacecrafts available for sale in the civilian marketplace.

It was made by SpaceZ, the Galactic Federation's leading company in commercialized spaceships.

"Betsy, start the engines and head to the coordinates given by Elizabeth." Once they all got settled in, Lemuel ordered his ship's AI and do everything for him.

The lights inside the ship turned on and gave a cozy feeling to the passengers. Elizabeth has been granted permission by Lemuel to enter the coordinates, as she did.

"Coordinates confirmed. Taking off in 3, 2, 1." The AI, Betsy, had a soothing voice compared to the general idea that AI's had a monotonous sound.

The interior was comfy and pleasurable to the group.

Akira started opening the mini-fridge and rummaged around to get his favorite drink. They have boarded this ship a lot of times during their stay in the Military Academy.

Lemuel closed his eyes and meditated in silence. Everybody was used to this as Lemuel always wanted some peace of mind to make his thoughts clearer.

Joshua was scrolling through his social media feed, using his communicator. While he was scrolling, he found something unusual.

"Captain, look at this!" He quickly called Kiel over.

Kiel was a bit alarmed as he saw Joshua's expression. He looked at Joshua's communicator and was surprised at the news. Joshua played the live-stream video of the news station that was covering it. As he turned the volume up, everyone in the team fell into a tense mood. Lemuel was ahead of them and transferred it over to the main screen of the ship.

"Holy sh*tballs!" Akira stood up unconsciously and muttered under his breath while Bai Qing and Elizabeth had expressions of disbelief.

A lot of buzzing noises and soldiers running around can be seen in the background. It was a total state of chaos, however, most people would not have any clue until the official report is given.

"This is your newscaster, Sarah Jones. I am here right now at the mobile military command outpost outside the planet Demaryn. As you all know, Demaryn is the place where our military cadets are being trained, and it is also considered as one of the biggest military fortresses in our generation. A few minutes ago, a group of unidentified spaceships attacked the planet."

Everyone became confused. Who would dare to attack Demaryn? It was declared a four-star planet and was capable of protecting itself even against a full barrage from the Galactic Corps. They waited for the reporter to continue.

"According to the reports, the unidentified spaceships had a more superior arsenal of weapons far from the reach of our modern technology. Due to this unexpected attack, Demaryn's defenses couldn't do anything. The quantity of the unidentified attackers were estimated to be about 350 - 400. They captured the military officials and cadets and has fortified their defenses in the planet. There are no news yet about the casualties."

Kiel heard this and his heart sank. This was an important place and was the cradle for human's security throughout the galaxies. "Turn around and go back to HQ. Now." Everyone could feel their Captain's mood right now, as it was the same for them. They knew that the calmness shown by the Captain was a fearful thing.

Lemuel did not hesitate as he manually controlled the ship to go back to HQ.

Within a few minutes, they landed on the HQ's hangar. Some soldiers were already waiting for them as they had been contacted by the General during their flight back.

The team went to the field where the General was. There were about 1800 people in the field saluting the General.

The Alpha Team, led by Kiel, saluted the General.

"You should all know why you are here. This is a critical situation. I am mobilizing the Alpha Team and the Blue Horse' brigade. Your mission is to meet up with the Delta and Omega Teams and reinforce General Ziyu He and recapture Demaryn from the invaders. If there are no further questions, you may prepare as you will be leaving at 18:00. Dismissed!" General Ilya Strahovski gave his commands to his men before he left.

Kiel solemnly looked at his team, "You all know what to do, we have only two hours left before we mobilize. Prepare yourselves." Kiel started to leave before he turned around and said, "No one will die in this mission, understood?"

"Yes sir!" Everyone in his team answered in all seriousness, even Akira didn't show his playful personality.
