We went back to Darca happily. Torren was leaving Darca the next day to find princess Sophia as they believed that she could give her powers to him since she always wanted to get rid of it. He didn't want anybody to know where he would be going to, not even Kahlan knew and he warned me to keep it a secret. Kahlan had left like she always did to keep empress Liah posted on Torren's day to day activities. She entered her castle to give her report.

"Welcome Kahlan. I was beginning to think you're thinking of double crossing me." Liah said as Kahlan entered. 

"Double cross you? Why would you think that?"

"Just thought you might do that again."

"Again? You're the one who double crossed me Liah, not me. And listen, if we must work together, I think we've got to trust each other. That's the only way our plans will work out."
