13 Combat Trial (2)

She continued her slaughtering through the night, bringing her elimination count to 171, as it was now getting close to noon.

Layla jumped through the trees, looking for her next prey, while the ones monitoring this trial were in a large room structured like a movie theater. Tens of slayers and recruiters sat in cushioned seats. All watched the trial through either the large screen that broadcast everything within the combat dome or their own individual screens in front of them.

Sitting in the front row was Silas, who focused his attention on two specific individuals: Layla and Mia, as they gave him a favorable first impression.

"Both Layla and Mia feel like trained slayers, but why would they take part in this if they are already slayers?" Silas asked, face palming, with him unable to understand why.

A young man who sat next to Silas with black hair, black eyes, a suit, and glasses. "I'll check the slayer database to see if there is anything on them."

"Thanks, Cole."

Cole nodded, and began to type on his etheric holographic keyboard and searched through the database of the Slayer Association.

After looking through the database, he found something encrypted as the screen turned red, shouting "Warning!, warning!, you do not have admin access to this file. If you don't leave the page immediately, a severe punishment will be given!"

Hearing the warning, Cole quickly followed what the voice said, exiting from the database, dodging the severe punishment by a hair.

"What was that?" Asked Silas.

I don't know, but it's something that would've given me a severe punishment, so it must be too secret." Cole said, as cold sweat appeared on his face. 'That was close.'

"True. Were they in the database?"

"No, I didn't see anything about them, besides the information provided when they signed up as a recruit," said Cole.

"I see." Silas was disappointed that he couldn't find any further information, but this would have to do for now, as he turned his focus back to the monitor in front of him that displayed Layla on it.

Meanwhile.

Layla found her prey and pulled out her two hand cannons, aiming them at the closest target.

*pfft!, pfft!, pffft!

After firing several shots with optimal accuracy, four of the five were eliminated instantly, leaving one who barely avoided a fatal shot.

'His agility is high for a novice, but it's too late.'

She aimed at his head and fired.

*Pfft!

His speed was good, but he lost balance after dodging the bullet, giving him no chance to avoid it a second time. A golden barrier enveloped him and teleported him out of the trial.

Feeling her instincts screaming at her, Layla bent her body to the side and aimed her gun at the assailant's head.

The assailant gripped the gun and redirected the shot.

*Pfft!

'She's good.'

Aiming her second gun, Layla shot it at Mia's abdomen.

*Pfft!

Mia avoided it from hitting any fatal areas, but she was still grazed by the bullet.

She kicked Layla's abdomen, sending her flying back, along with three throwing knives.

Layla threw four throwing knives, deflecting Mia's throwing knives while the fourth targeted Mia.

*Ting!

Mia redirected the throwing knife with her own knife, glancing at Layla, who stood a few meters away.

"Your good," Mia said.

"So are you."

Raising their guns, they both fired.

*Pfft!, pfft!, pffft!

Both of them deflected each other's bullets until Layla took a step forward, and her figure disappeared.

'So she's using her element now.'

Raising her knife behind her, Mia flicked her wrist and slashed at Layla's knife.

*Clang!

They clashed knives, sending sparks into the air as their blades ground against each other under their sheer strength.

After failing her attack, Layla entered the shadows again.

'Oh my.' Mia thought, smiling as she kept her guard up.

Sensing danger from above, Mia quickly looked up to find a barrage of aether bullets raining down upon her.

She lowered herself slightly and danced through the torrent of aether bullets, deflecting most of them with her blades while the few that were able to hit her barely grazed her.

Seeing this, Layla couldn't help but marvel at Mia's ability to be able to deflect nearly all the bullets.

However, despite her amazement, she didn't waste any time as she now had her previously thrown throwing knives and threw three of them with great force.

*Clang, clang, clang!

Mia easily deflected the three throwing knives, but that is when she felt the cold, hard metal of a gun barrel pointed at the back of her head.
