Revised): New Beginning

After getting our lockers and purchasing our PE uniforms, our PE teacher, Coach Thompson, decided to start the year off with some basic fitness tests. We began with a mile run around the school's track to gauge our endurance. Even though I had never really participated in sports before, my vampire abilities allowed me to keep up with the fastest runners without breaking a sweat. I finished the run with ease, impressing my classmates and piquing the interest of the coach.

Next, we moved on to a series of calisthenics and agility drills, including push-ups, sit-ups, and shuttle runs. Once again, my supernatural strength and speed made these tasks seem almost effortless, and I completed each exercise with precision and grace. My classmates gazed at me with a mix of awe and curiosity, wondering how the new kid could possess such exceptional athletic abilities.

As the PE class drew to a close, Coach Thompson approached me, clearly impressed by my performance. "Lucius, you have some serious talent," he said, clapping me on the shoulder. "You should consider joining one of our sports teams – we could really use someone like you."

I thanked the coach for his kind words and told him I would think about it, though I knew I needed to be careful not to draw too much attention to my supernatural abilities. With the PE class over, I headed to the cafeteria for lunch.

Soon after, it was lunchtime. Although I don't usually feel hungry, I wanted to seize the opportunity to make friends, and this seemed like the best chance I would have today. I headed to the bustling indoor cafeteria, joining the short queue to get some food. Despite not needing to eat, I still enjoyed the taste of it. Once I had my meal, I walked to an empty table since I was one of the first to get in line and get some food. As I sat down, the rest of the students began pouring into the cafeteria, crowding the place and forming a long line as I watched while eating.

As I continued watching the line, I heard footsteps approaching from behind. Turning around, I saw a 15-year-old boy, about the same height as me, with above-average looks. He walked up to the table, sat down beside me, and introduced himself with a smile.

"Hey, I'm Mark," he said, still smiling.

"Lucius," I replied swiftly, smiling back, finding him interesting.

"Hey Lucius, you must be the new kid, right? I didn't see you here last year, and I know like everyone," he said, the goofy smile never leaving his face.

Just as I was about to reply, someone interrupted us.

"Yo, Mark," a boy around the age of 15 chimed in as he sat down beside Mark. "Ah, is this the famous new kid everyone's talking about?" he asked, looking at me with a grin.

"Yeah, Alex, this is Lucius. Lucius, this is Alex. He's a friend of mine," Mark introduced us, still wearing that infectious smile.

"Ah, I see. Hey, Alex," I greeted with a smile of my own.

"Yo," Alex replied, digging into his meal with gusto, clearly quite hungry.

"So, Lucius, do you play any sports?" Mark asked.

"Ah, not really. Never had the chance to get into one. How about you?" I inquired.

"Both Mark and I play football," Alex replied proudly. "You should join the team; it's fun," he continued, taking a bite of his pizza.

"Hmm... I might, I guess. We'll see," I responded, considering the pros and cons of joining the team. I had heard that football teammates were often very close, so it could be an excellent opportunity to make friends.

Just then, a female voice chimed in from behind Mark and me, startling us both. "So, is no one going to introduce me to the new kid?" she demanded.

Mark and I turned to see a young girl with a pretty face and long, straight hair. Though still maturing, her beauty was undeniable. She appeared to take good care of her appearance, based on her stylish outfit. She had a slender build, which was partially obscured by the oversized hoodie she wore. Her cute face, small nose, and delicate lips formed a scowl. Wait, a scowl?

"Seen enough?" she asked, a hint of anger in her voice.

Caught off guard, I quickly replied, "No," causing the girl to blush slightly. Alex gave me a thumbs up, while Mark looked at me with newfound respect.

"Wait, wait," I stammered, realizing my mistake. "I didn't mean it like that." My face flushed, as I'd never had a girlfriend and tended to be shy in situations involving females.

Mark laughed before introducing us. "Lucius, this is Kate. Kate, this is Lucius."

Kate glanced at me, the scowl still present on her cute face. She chose to sit down next to Alex, pointedly ignoring me. I found her reaction endearing.

Mark noticed this as well and chuckled, nudging me under the table. He whispered, loud enough for Kate to hear, "You know, Lucius, I heard Kate is single, and you two would definitely look good together."

"W-what?" I stammered, my face growing even redder. Both Alex and Mark burst into laughter, while Kate turned away from us, her face as red as a tomato.

"Anyway, there's a party tonight at Kate's house. Since she's too embarrassed to talk right now, I'll invite you on her behalf. You wanna come?" Mark quickly changed the subject.

"Yeah, I'd like that," I replied, after regaining my composure and wiping the blush from my face.

"Alright, cool. My number is (888)-643-3872 (not a real number, by the way)," Mark said. I quickly added him and sent him a message so he could add me back. He also sent me Alex's number, and just as he did, the bell ending lunch rang.

"I'll see you later, Lucius. If you want Kate's number, ask her yourself. I don't think she'd want me to give it out without her permission. I messaged you her address; the party starts at 7. Hope to see you there!" Mark yelled as he quickly ran off with Alex and an embarrassed Kate, who hit him on the shoulder for his earlier comment.

"A party, huh..." I mused to myself, a smile spreading across my face as I realized I'd made my first real friends at this school.

The rest of the day went by in a blur, and before I knew it, the final bell rang, signaling the end of my first day at this new school. With the anticipation of the upcoming party, I couldn't help but feel excited about the possibilities of new friendships and experiences.

As I headed to my last class of the day, I couldn't shake the feeling that my life was about to take an interesting turn. This new school and the friends I had made so far had already brought a sense of belonging that I hadn't felt before. Little did I know, this was just the beginning of my extraordinary journey in this new world.
