8 Chapter 8

"Good... no, that would be a lie... I feel like I've been reborn," was the only response from the red-eyed girl, fascinated by the power she felt within herself.

With a playful grin, Kaito remarked that this process was aptly referred to as "rebirth" for a reason.

The crimson-eyed girl, whose name still remained a mystery, stood in a vast chamber adorned with exquisite golden decorations, a grand golden mirror towering behind her, while before her stood a man with long white hair and piercing blue eyes, towering at 1.9 meters with a strikingly handsome face.

The girl, with her fox-like red eyes, beautiful green hair, slender lips, a petite nose, and high cheekbones, exuded a captivating allure. Unbeknownst to her, a few crimson droplets trickled from her lips as she gazed intently at the man before her.

Kairo observed her presence, noting the lingering trace of blood on her lips. 'Remnants..she is just like a kid... how amusing ,' he mused, a wry amusement dancing in his eyes.

Oblivious to her surroundings, he approached her, looming so close that with a mere extension of his arm, he could touch her. Noting her diminutive stature, he chuckled inwardly.

'She barely reaches my chest,' he observed before focusing his attention on her lips.

With deliberate intent, he reached for the blood stain on her lower lip, using his thumb to collect it and bringing it to his mouth. As he licked it away, his gaze locked with hers, his head cocked slightly to the side.

The girl watched in silence, lost in her thoughts not noticing how close he comes to her until it was too late to react. Only when she snapped out of her reverie did she notice him licking blood from his thumb, his eyes fixed on hers, his head tilted slightly. Blushing, she averted her gaze, turning her head away.

'Handsomely sexy!' was the only thought she could muster. 

Observing her reactions, Kairo found amusement in her embarrassment but ceased his teasing. He had more pressing matters at hand.

"Now that your immediate hunger is sated, let us take the opportunity to explore and develop your abilities as swiftly as possible," he informed the crimson-eyed girl.

As he began to speak, she turned her attention back to him, listening intently.

"Uh... how can we determine what abilities I possess? Are there books on this topic?" she asked uncertainly, struggling to comprehend the situation unfolding before her.

Everything was so new and strange to her.

'Strange? Shouldn't it be strange how you drank blood and even enjoyed it?' the annoying voice in her mind chimed in, but she pushed it aside, knowing she had no choice but to adapt to her new reality.

"There are no books that can determine or define your ability. However, there is an ancient crystal that most new vampires use. But you will see and understand when we get there," he explained, aware that showing her would be more effective than merely talking about it.

As Kairo instructed the young girl to follow him, they set off towards the location of the ancient crystal. Suddenly, he stopped in his tracks and turned to her, catching her off guard. Clutching her throbbing nose with both hands, she looked at him questioningly and accusingly, puzzled by his sudden halt.

Ignoring her bewildered gaze for the moment, Kairo posed the question that had just occurred to him.

"...What is your name?"

The girl stared at him, incredulous.

'...Is he serious? I thought he knew? ...No, it wouldn't make sense... he only said he knew my clan but not my first name... but that's not the point! The focus should be on the fact that after so much time, he's asking for my name now! Can you believe it?' she fumed inwardly.

"Don't look at me like that. I have no reason to know the name of a mortal since they perish so quickly, and I have lived for so long. Their names hold no significance for me," he explained, his voice deep and calm.

"-..But since you now belong to the family, I thought I should know your name, and it is customary for those who become vampires to choose a new name as a symbol of a fresh start," he added.

The girl briefly considered his logic but remained irritated by his obvious disdain for the human race or perhaps all other races, she pondered internally. Nonetheless, she disclosed her name. She would not change it; she wanted to carry the name her parents had given her until the very end. It would remain the only unchanged aspect—a reminder of her past.

"Yukiko. Yukiko Tokiomi, that's my only name."

With her name spoken, they finally departed the chamber. Along the way, Kairo briefed her on everything she needed to know—the basics.

He explained how vampires possessed a similar energy to shinobi, known as chakra but different. Darker and much stronger, it was referred to as an energy core.

Everyone had it, and it functioned akin to a heart. It was one of the few vulnerabilities of a vampire. Yet, stronger vampires could conceal their energy core, ensuring enemies couldn't locate it. Since chakra and energy core were similar yet distinct, one person couldn't possess both.

Those who previously had chakra would convert it into an energy core.

Hello everyone, your busybee author is back! I know it's been a while since I uploaded a new chapter, but what can I say? University has already started and it's really taking its toll on me, and it's only been like two weeks or something =(
