3 Not so bad after all

That night I wait until everybody is asleep I know they have sharp ears so I have to be as quiet as possible. when it reaches two in the morning,I tiptoe out of the servants quarters and check if the guards are asleep ,they all are,"lazy bastards" I say as I roll my eyes.

I tiptoe to the huge iron gate and slowly open it, it makes a small squeaking voice which I don't expect, I don't wait to see if the guards have woken up, I quickly run outside breathing in my freedom,sweet freedom.

I run as fast as my legs can take me, not looking back but a sound makes me stop for a second, is that the alarm I've just heard, I quickly recover and continue running but someone holds my wrist and turns me around, I come face to face with the vampire lord. Oh my God, I just forgot how to breathe, oh God my hands are going to be cut off " uh uh um..." I try to speak but no words come out."Just come," he says his voice full of irritation, he pulls me by my wrist and runs with his vampire speed, all I see is a blur until I feel a chair beneath me and I am suddenly in a study room guessing it is his. "So mind telling me why you tried to run away?" His tone is calm but there's no mistaking the surpressed anger behind his stoic face, I best tread carefully. "You wanted my tattoo removed but it is a reminder of my parents and it means a lot to me, I might be your slave but I still have feelings and if you want to kill me, ok go ahead and do it but this tattoo is not going anywhere." I say with all the courage I can muster up, so much for treading carefully, I guess one week was an overestimation of my intelligence and patience, should have given myself two hours. In one fluid motion he is right next to me, he runs his hand over my cheeks, I didn't even realize that I was crying. "Ok your execution will be tomorrow," he says in a dead serious tone. What?!

The silence stretches with a few of my shallow breathes fillinn the void before he suddenly bursts out laughing "Oh God you should have seen your face, it was priceless, I was joking Julliet but we have to punish you in some way, we can't have you defying me at every turn" Oh God my heart just did a somersault when he said my name and those green eyes wait 'focus Jules, for Christ sake the man is here thinking of a punishment for you and all you can think about is his green eyes.'

"But for now just go to sleep we will talk tomorrow," he says in that deep sexy voice.

"Jules what were you thinking, you could have been killed or your limbs cut off," Mary whisper yells at me.

I tell her all that happened and she has this face like I just told here that prince Harry is my husband.

"He wiped away your tears and forgave you, teach me your ways oh great enchantress." She says in a high voice that could wake up the whole castle. "First of all shhhh! and second of all he didn't forgive me he just didn't kill me or cut off any of my limbs." I say in a duh tone. "Let's just go to sleep, I am so tired, I need some shut eye." I say as I yawn as if to support my point. "Ok but we are not done here." she says as I close my bedroom door.

The following day, first thing in the morning, I am called to the Lord's study room. "Ok I have found the perfect punishment for you." He says in a malicious voice. Oh God kill me. "You will become my P.a you will do everything I tell you and you will be with me at all times and if you disobey me at all, there will be consequences. Ok?" he asks in a no room for discussion tone."Ok." I agree reluctantly.

At least he didn't ask for any sexual favours as I expected, but something is nagging me at the back of my mind but I do not want to listen to it. Was I not attractive enough for him? I surely wouldn't mind being in his bed. 'Wait focus Jules, you don't want to be in his bed or anywhere near that area' I try to convince myself .

So so we spend the whole day in his study room because he is busy picking up calls and talking to some other lords, turns out he has an agreement with our government that no vampire will cross a certain line but if a human crosses the line they become the vampire's problem, which apparently I crossed. What is wrong with our government? They are supposed to be our protectors but they just give us to the vampire's hands willingly.

As I think of all this I remember my old aunt and what has become of her, who was taking care of her now? A treacherous tear slips away before I can stop it. And just then I find myself speaking, "What became of my aunt, is she looking for me?" Oops me and my big mouth, I thought he would not answer but, "We compelled her to think you live in a different place and have a busy life that you don't have time to visit but we always put money in her account and make her think it is from you." Well at least she didn't starve. I thought he was bad but maybe I judged him too harshly, maybe he wasn't so bad. I might just give him a chance, not that he cares about that.

That evening he asks me to go for a walk with him. As we walk under the bright moonlight I remember a song and start humming and swaying my hips to it. I forget I have company and get lost in the music. When I finally remember he is there I turn to him to see if he is mad but I find him looking at me, his beautiful green eyes filled with fascination and an emotion I can't quite place.

I clear my throat and he shakes his head as if to clear it.

"So what's your name?" I casually ask to break the silence .

"Who are you to know my name, you are just a maid, know your place." He says as if he couldn't care less

Anger rises in me, all I asked was his name not some kind of secret formula to making money from dirt, why does he have to be rude. Before I can stop, I find myself yelling at him,"Listen here your highness all I asked was your name you, didn't have to be rude about it, if you didn't want to tell me you could have just said so, I know I am a maid and not by choice but that doesn't give you the right to treat me like dirt." My chest is heaving so hard that I have to stop to catch my breath. I find myself walking away but before I can he stops me by my wrist and what he does next catches me by surprise. "Hades,my name is Hades."
