8 The Necromancer

Alaric knocked out the necromancer since he assumed he was the one who was responsible for all the zombies and Josie's kidnapping.

At the Salvatore school, it was a remembrance day that they had once a year. Everyone was in the memorial library writing letters to their lost loved ones. Even Hope and Silver were there, but this time, Hope was actually writing to her dad. Silver however didn't have any family in this life, so he didn't have anyone to write about. After Hope was done, she took the letter with her instead of putting it in the basket with all the other letters and went out of the library with Silver. Hope and Silver were walking through the hallways when they saw Rafael standing still, looking at a girl wearing a black dress and her face seemed to have been bruised. Rafael called out her name which was Cassie making Hope's eyes widen.

In the basement or dungeon, Alaric had been torturing the Necromancer for days but to no success. That's when Hope and Silver came in to tell Alaric about Rafael's girlfriend. The Necromancer was excited to see Hope, but he looked weirdly at Silver. Alaric then went upstairs and met Cassie where he had to explain to her that she was resurrected. Hope and Silver were basically bugging Dorian who was looking for everything that was written about necromancy but he didn't find any specific Necromancer. Dorian gave Hope and Silver all the books he found about necromancy and told them to give them to Alaric since he was going to mourn his dead family.

Hope and Silver were walking through the hallways when they came upon seeing Alaric talking with Cassie while Rafael was listening. Hope then had this brilliant idea to interrogate the Necromancer herself so she and Silver went to the basement with all the books. They came down the basement when they heard the Necromancer sniffing the air.

N: " *sniff* *sniff* You have a strong scent of death on you, it's quite nice. But you, you don't smell at all. What are you?" He asked looking at Silver.

Silver: " Someone who can probably kill you."

N: " Hahaha I cannot be killed."

Silver: " Pretty sure you can, but here's the deal, you tell us why you want the knife, or I will burn your rotten skin off your already rotting body."

N: " I have nothing to say"

Hope: " Maybe you will when you hear that you don't exist. There were also monsters before you, dragon, gargoyle, dryad, arachne."

N: " Those are only monsters in fiction."

Silver: " Nope, let me tell it to you straight, you were in a void, darkness that never seemed to end and was pitch black. But you suddenly woke up with an urge to possess the knife, that about right?"

N: " No, it's more of an instinct."

Hope: " Why?"

N: " Because then I will be free."

Hope: " Free of what?"

N: " That dark pit"

Hope: " Here, find out for yourself." She said handing him the books of necromancy. After a couple of minutes of reading, the Necromancer was furiously throwing stuff around while Hope and Silver were just watching out of boredom.

N: " Who did this?!"

Hope: " That's what we are trying to figure out, so you going to help?"

N: " I'm all ears"

Alaric found Cassie trying to call her mother, but he stopped her just in time telling her that it wasn't a good idea. Rafael came in and Cassie wanted to know why he killed her. Hope was asking the Necromancer about how he died but he said he didn't remember it. Hope then had an idea to access his subconscious. Rafael and Cassie were talking but it later came to an argument because Cassie remembered why he took a turn too fast while he was driving the car that night.

Hope wanted to access the Necromancer's subconscious but she needed MG for a little support. After MG agreed, Hope and the Necromancer went into his conscious mind first before going into his subconscious. Hope got ditched by him when he went into his subconscious so she tried to go in again. She appeared back in the same place while trying to find an exit, but instead, she found an endless staircase. While walking down the stairs, the stairs suddenly disappeared and she fell. Hope later woke up and saw the empty darkness. She walked around trying to find the Necromancer but she didn't panic. After a few seconds she had enough and called MG to get her out. But on the outside, Hope was a little stressed making MG nervous, so Silver just touched her head and she was out of there.

Hope: " Thank you" She said while hugging Silver.

Silver: " What happened"

Hope: " He trapped me in some darkness" She said before hearing the Necromancer's voice behind her.

N: " Well well, you got out, I'm impressed." He said looking at Silver.

Hope: " You left me there on purpose?!"

N: " Well yeah but aren't you interested in what I found out?"

MG: " Uhm imma go now" He said before going out of the room.

The Necromancer then told about everything he found out, how he summoned the spirit of who made the knife, and that he found out that he died from that very same knife, how Malivore has three locks or keys that can release him since those very items were used to contain him. But, he then told them how he was stalling her, just like he was now, since he controlled Cassie to take the knife, and when she was outside with Rafael and told him to go away, a Bennet witch showed up who transported the knife to Malivore quickly. The dungeon then started to rumble and the Necromancer disappeared.

Hope and Silver went upstairs to tell Alaric what happened. Dorian was in the library yelling at Calub for letting MG drink human blood. He also told Calub what a ripper is and how his family died to one. Rafael found out his girlfriend disappeared and Alaric saw him. Hope, Silver, Rafael, and Alaric went to the cemetery to mourn while Hope placed her letter in a basket there.

The letter said: ' Dear Dad, I'm no stranger to death. But that doesn't mean I wanna talk about it. Once a year for remembrance day, we are asked to write letters to our lost loved ones. We write our names, fold them up and scatter them throughout the cemetery. I'd rather not talk about the dead, but lately, death keeps knocking on my door. Today I messed up, bad. But...I had Silver with me. He always has my back, and always gets me through the toughest times. But I still made a mistake, so I'm going to put an even harder effort to be better. Today I saw a glimpse of what true loneliness feels like. I was never alone again since the day you died, so I'm glad I have Silver with me. The Necromancer told me that your spirit is still all around me, but you won't find peace until I do, so I'm going to work on finding peace within myself, and look forward to the day you're at peace. I love you, Hope'

Hope was walking with Silver when her bracelet suddenly glowed blue, meaning Landon is in trouble. Hope told Silver this but Rafael who wasn't too far away heard this as well so he came over.

Rafael: " Well let's go save him"
