Chp 61:Panic

Layla POV:

With my new found concerns on the cure for the strange condition Lucas is under. I have no time for anything else. I have to figure this out. There was no way there was no cure.

What absolute bullcrap. He wants me to believe that so I give up.

After several hours my research was cut short from a sudden call from Evan.

Panic instantly overwhelmed him and initiated it onto me. "He's coughing up blood and now hes unresponsive. What do I do? He's bearly breathing."

This was definitely not what I wanted to head after a series of failed results.

"Alright, you can bring him over to me if you'd like. I'm sure he's fine. So calm down." I tried to remain calm for him. As having two panicked people was a recipe for disaster.

The call ended quickly and soon enough Evan arrived with Lucas in his arms. Both half naked, leaving their top halves exposed.

He was right, this is pretty bad. His breathing was extremely shallow. I laid him on a spare bed and yelled at Evan to put some clothes on in order to get rid of him for a few minutes.

I managed to calm the situation from tending to Lucas immediately. Evan rushed back in and instantly asked if Lucas was okay.

"He's fine, just needs some rest. His body isn't handling the state he's in right now very well."

"So it's bad but he'll be okay?" Panic eased in his voice and a sigh of relief escaped his lips.

"Yes, he'll be fine. I just need to figure out this cure quickly to prevent his condition from getting any worse."

I lied to him. This was seriously bad. Rest can't stop blood from being coughed up. His condition is alot worst than I had anticipated. I thought they were just short attacks that didn't leave any long lasting effects. But this is definitely a long term effect.

With that situation calmed down I continued my work back at the lab. I had tried almost everything I could think of.

But nothing. Robert's words rung in my ears. 'There is no cure.' I hated myself for beginning to believe that.

This was all my fault and I couldn't do anything to help.

Robert said he had a way but he required Lucas's blood for the answer. It wasn't a huge price to pay, but it was exactly what he wanted. Blood is nothing to us vampires, only a source of food.

Only of course to Evan, Lucas was everything to him. I had never seen that look of pure terror before, he was truly concerned for Lucas. He loved him.

But if it's the only option left, maybe it would be best to not alert Evan of my intentions.

I walked back into the room to see Evan sleeping on Lucas lap. Poor dude must of tired himself out from worry.

I quietly rose a needle to Lucas's arm only to have piercing red eyes lay on me.

"What are you doing?"

I froze solid, that intense glare shook me to my core. I was much stronger then Evan so I'm never scared of him but this petrified me.

"I just need some blood so I can figure out how to cure this. I can only do so much without a sample of his DNA." I stammered slightly at the beginning only to back myself up with confidence at the end.

His stare intensified.

Shout out to my cat who snored really loudly whilst I wrote this.
