18 Chapter 22

When their misunderstanding is finally resolved, an awkward silence surrounded them again. Goliah lowered his head in shame while Janus let out a soft sigh. Now that his big friend mentioned it, maybe Janus is starting to get impatient. How many hours does he need to prepare himself from talking to him? It is not like Janus will eat him alive though.

But maybe it is all his fault. Janus surprised his big friend by showing him the two-headed lion without any notice. He even acted like a bad villain earlier when the thieves arrived.

'So yeah... I think I should apologize first.'

Janus took a deep breathe first before he starts approaching his beefy friend.

"Goliah—"

"Yes?" Goliah quickly asked.

Janus ignored how Goliah's body flinched when he called his name.

"I just want to apologize." Janus calmly said. If possible, he is trying to make his voice a little soft so he cannot surprise Goliah more.

"A-Ah?"

"I'm sorry if I did not tell you the truth. Well, I cannot find the heart to tell you the truth because you treated me nicely. I am practically a stranger to you but you even treated me as a friend. I am apologizing too for startling you. It is not my intention to scare you."

When Goliah did not say anything, Janus quickly takes that chance and continued.

"Goliah, you are a nice person. You tried to save me when you think I am in danger. You even shared your knowledge although you have no responsibilities to do that for me. I feel bad about lying to you but I really think telling you the truth will scare you more. So I—"

"Save it, Janus."

"Ah?"

Now it is Janus's turn to be surprised. Why did Goliah say that? Did he finally retrieved his courage and now he is now mad because he lied to him? But it was not really his intention to lie at him!

"Goliah, please listen—"

"No, Janus. Please listen to me first. Or rather, please answer my questions."

"Uhmm, okay."

[Your heartbeat is increasing every second, Janus.]

'Well, yeah. No shit, honey.'

It does not make any sense at all. Compared to his beefy friend, Janus is way more powerful than him. Janus even thinks there is a possibility that he can kill Goliah by accident if he suddenly hit him on his shoulder. Meluna's body is too powerful that Janus sometimes wonders if he can possibly destroy a continent all by himself.

It feels like the tables have turned since Janus is now nervous about why his big friend suddenly wants him to stop explaining his sides. Well, Goliah is a normal person. Of course, Goliah will feel betrayed since he wholeheartedly helped Janus then he will discover that he was just lying to him.

"Janus, answer these questions honestly." Goliah said in a serious voice.

"...Okay? I mean, sure. Okay. I will answer all of it with my love and sincerity." Janus joked and tried to lighten up the mood around them.

"First, did you purposely lied to me because you have bad intentions towards me?"

"No. Never!" Janus quickly denied it. "Well... When I saw how you sincerely treated me as a friend, I cannot just say that 'Hey! I can protect myself so mind your own business.' to you because you did your best to 'help' me."

"Okay." Goliah said while nodding his head. "Second question. You are not really a newcomer in this place. Am I right?"

"...Yes?"

"If possible, I only want clear answers to my questions."

'Damn. Is he still the same Goliah who asked me not to kill him earlier? Who is this serious, beefy guy in front of me?'

[He is still the Goliah that you saved earlier, Janus.]

'...Thanks for that. But I am not really asking you that question though.'

[I understand, Janus.]

'...'

"Janus?" Goliah called him to get his attention again."

"Yeah? I mean. Yes. You are right. I am not really a newcomer here." Janus answered.

Technically, Janus is not really lying. If he will consider the months he spent in this dungeon just to finish the game, then he is not really a newbie player. Janus can even consider himself as an expert when it comes to Rozea Dungeon since he knows every nooks and corner of this place like the back of his hand.

"Okay." Goliah muttered under his breathe. "Okay."

"Uhm... Goliah—"

"Last question."

"...Yeah? What is it?"

Janus then noticed that his big guy looks like a little hesitant to ask him the last question. He was about to encourage his friend when Goliah surprised him by slapping his face with both hands before clapping at once. After that, he gave him a serious look.

"Janus, are you the one who owns this mysterious dungeon?"
