17 Chapter 21

People sometimes have a superiority complex with those people around them. Maybe because they have a high-paying job and can contribute a lot to their society? It is also possible that they are just overly talented and they can't help but boast about it? Or maybe because they love the feeling of being surrounded with praises that feed their ego.

Janus never experienced it before in real life. Although he is sort of a god-level player in every video game he played, he is one of the jobless people in their society. It was not like he chose to be like that. Janus swears that he tried his best to have a decent nine to five job or even a simple job in their neighborhood.

The thing is, the competition is like a boss stage where you are only at level five but the job interviewers are at the highest level possible in a game. Their eyes are always sharp who find the smallest details they can possibly question from your portfolio.

The most irritating part for him during a job interview is their requirements. Janus was a good student who finished his studies with flying colors. He is not a genius who achieved a lot of academic awards. But Janus's grades are still decent and he left a good impression on his professors.

But the job requirements these days are so close to impossible. Some are looking for a bachelor's degree graduate who has two to three years of job experienced. And the age bracket is between twenty to twenty-five years old. There are also companies that do not accept fresh graduates like him.

After almost two years of failure, Janus finally decided to wave his white flag. Looking for a job is very exhausting. But the worst part of it, Janus is tired of receiving daily rejections from the companies who cannot see the possibilities of him contributing a lot to their company. Or maybe he really does not have any qualities fitted for the job he was trying to get.

Fortunately, his parents left him a huge sum of money. He is also thrifty and he does not like to spend too much. And to free himself from the stress he earned for the past years, he drowns himself in playing video games.

And because of his "wasteful" lifestyle, people always looked down on him. There were some cases when his college classmates will organize get-together parties or alumni parties in their old school. But Janus never attended those parties.

Why? Because those are not just a party to reminisce your memories during college. It is a party that will only show what did you contribute to society several years after your graduation. Some will share how much they are earning every month or what is their current position in society.

Janus did not know why he suddenly remembers those memories again. It feels like he is always having a glimpse of his past every time something happened to him these past twenty-four hours. Maybe he is just overthinking some things.

Looking down, Janus saw his beefy friend kneeling in front of him with his forehead planted on the dusty ground. Janus did not know what to do. This is the first time that someone bowed in front of him. So he just stays in his place like a statue and lets Goliah speak without interrupting him.

"I had enough! I will call you—"

"I'm sorry! Please don't kill me!"

"..."

"What are you—"

"It was my fault for acting overfriendly towards you! I am just a lonely man who misses the feeling of having a friend."

"..."

"Even though I have no chance to get out of this place, I still do not want to die. For the sake of my wife and daughter, I still want to live and continue looking for ways to get out of this dungeon. So please don't kill me!"

"..."

"I promise I will never tell a single soul about the things I witnessed earlier. I will bury your secret until the day I die."

"..."

"I also apologize for being too close with you. I just really thought you are just a newcomer inside this kingdom who stills some guidance on how to survive in this dungeon."

Did he do something wrong? He was just literally sitting quietly at the corner, talking to his system and waiting for his muscle friend to speak first. A while ago, Janus was suggesting some new names for his system. Calling it 'AI001' all the time is kind of tiring even though he is just talking to it in his mind. Since his system gave its approval, Janus listed a lot of possible names he can use.

He tried all the cool nicknames he can think of. He tried the names Tiger, Flaming Chicken, Thunder Cat, Deadly Mouse, Leaping Crow, Tiger Chief, and Muscle Dragon. But AI001 rejected it all! His system even insulted him by saying he has bad taste.

When he finally had enough, Janus was about to yell at his system when Goliah suddenly knelt in front of him and spout that nonsense. It was really comical to see a beefy man kneeling in front of a slim and young man. Janus suddenly feels a headache throbbing on his forehead. Surely, there is a big misunderstanding between them.

"Goliah, what do you mean when you say I will kill you?" Janus asked.

Goliah did not immediately reply to his question, but Janus patiently waits for his answer. The big guy carefully lifted his head to look at Janus. Goliah saw Janus is looking at him with a confused expression on his face. After hesitating for a while, he finally opened his mouth to speak.

"Well... Aren't you planning to kill me because I keep on stalling time?"

"...Ah?"

"You were glaring at me earlier! Maybe you got irritated with me so you finally decided to kill me or maybe feel me with that huge monster—I mean to your pet."

"But I never thought of that idea though?"

"No?"

"Yeah. I am actually waiting for you to be ready and speak to me first."

"...Really?"

"Yes."

"...Are you sure?"

"Yup. I am one hundred percent sure!"

"...Oh."
