8 Magical wolf's end

"Hypnosis complete, Ann is now yours"

"Ann has been added to the party, please check for more information."

I looked at the message Infront of me in delight. The very person who had stood above me and had been an absolute monster in talent is now mine to control.

I gave Ann her normal personality, except she had a crush on me and stopped her from bullying those weaker. I didn't get rid of her personality because she was my sister, I'd feel bad since it was basically the same as killing her.

Now my party had been full, I let my father out of my control and he was removed from my party, leaving one vacant space.

My next step? Getting adopted, by a noble.

Nobles often kicked out kids who didn't meet standards, but not all nobles had strong families or had children.

Therefore, these nobles went to these thrown out kids in order to have someone to continue their family line, or to train them into personal knights for the house.

Nobles often fought with other nobles, and therefore they had their own personal knights. These knights all had varying strengths, the stronger they were the higher their position and pay. The nobles used these knights to fight for either territory, land or etc.

Anyone with magic, even if they were weak, were welcomed. Especially the former nobles.

Therefore, it wasn't rare to see knights coming to the lower districts and the town in order to search for such children with noble blood, and that is what I'll be aiming for.

There a lot of nobles, each having their own family with varying power levels. I wanted to get adopted into atleast a mediocre family, as one couldn't enter school without being a noble.

There were two ways to get adopted, either come across a knight who was recruiting or go to a guild, as they took payments from nobleman who were looking for promising children.

The guild was a place where if you pay you could receive information, advertise your offers or simply get help from an adventurer or become an adventurer yourself.

System, show me my party.

"Party:

Hannah - Healing

Ann - Fire"

With Ann and Hannah, I'd be able to improve my power faster. I learnt that I didn't need to be the one to kill a beast, I could simply stand back and watch Ann do it for me as I farmed power levels.

Not a single beast could withstand Ann's attack as she simply was too strong. A simple fireball exploded in the wolf's face, destroying it in an instant and leaving burn marks across its body.

Getting 16 per kill, over the few days, all 5 wolves were dead. The only one remaining was the pack leader, who had magic. Honestly, I was terrified.

"Host: James (No last name)

Job: Disciple of Annah (Host's Mother)

Magic: Hypnosis, Magic Eyes, Fire

Skills:

Command

Adjust

Control

Infrared Vision

Power: 59"

Looking at my stats, I regain my confidence.

I had 59 power, meaning I had a lot of mana. The only reason I was weak was that I didn't have any offensive skills, I tried looking at the system for information on fire skills but the prices were hundreds of points, and I had nowhere enough.

I bring Hannah and Ann through the woods as I prepare for the wolf, Hannah was to immediately heal Ann if she were to be damaged and Ann was to bombard the wolf with fireballs and use fire enhancement on the sword I lent her if the wolf came too close.

Ann immediately ran up to the wolf, she listened to my every word and immediately threw a fireball, Hannah standing beside her.

I was in the back, in case the wolf was indeed too strong for us I'd try to help both of them run by distracting the wolf, I didn't want to lose them as they were valuable and I didn't want to be responsible for the deaths of two young magicians.

The wolf immediately locked it's gaze onto us, it noticed the fireball but didn't try to dodge. I thought he'd die, but he casted what I assume was his skill, gust. It immediately made a small gust of wind that shot at the fireball, successfully blocking the attack. I watched in awe, her fireball was not to be laughed at. Ann had perfected it, condensing the massive fireball into a small but deadly ball.

The ball not only became stronger, but faster and had more stronger burns as she trained. Seeing it being nullified by a beast made me fear the worst outcome.

The wolf immediately casted another gust, but the wind this time was much more larger, but wasn't as strong. Ann tried to block it using fireball, but she succeeded in blocking a small portion of the attack, as it's skill continued and scraped against her skin, leaving blood trickling down her skin.

Ann screamed, as it was probably the first time she'd been severely wounded while Hannah tried healing but couldn't stop her shaky hands.

Inexperience, they were strong but not used to combat. Actually, this might be the first real battle they fought. When fighting the wolves, shooting a fire ball at a distance was enough to kill them. But this time, the same tactic could not be used.

Panicking, I start think of ways to win this battle. I order Ann to ready herself, she enhances her entire body with fire magic as well as her sword and I tried asking the system for skills.

Then I remembered, the upgrade system. Oh, how stupid was I?

"Upgrades:

Adjust - Give

Control - Enhance

Infrared Vision - Heat"

There, that was the skill that intrigued me. 'Heat,' a skill that was an upgrade from infrared vision. I immediately buy and analyze the skill, hoping it was an offensive.

"Skill upgraded to Heat.

Description: Makes selected target extremely hot, adding fatigue as a side bonus."

That's... That's a debuff, that's a goddamn debuff. Come on, I spent 20 points on that-

"Upgrades:

Adjust - Give

Control - Enhance

Heat - Burn"

Oh, so when I buy an upgrade, a new one appears?

But damn, if I buy this one my power will be reduced to 9, that's pretty bad and I'd probably be able to use burn only once...

Ah screw it, the wolf is going to attack at any time and I don't have time to worry.

"Skill bought: Burn

Description: Sets a target on fire that cannot be extinguished except when underwater. Fire lasts 1 minute."

After paying 30 power points, I lifted my hands and pointed them at the beast as I concentrated. And as expected, the wolf combusted in flames, the power of the fire wasn't as strong as Ann's but it made the wolf panic, unable to use wind magic since using magic required concentration.

I ordered the panicked Ann to use fireball, which she did instantly. With nothing to shield himself with, the fireball exploded in it's face and completely destroyed the creature, leaving nothing but charred remans in the ground.

"Congratulations on killing a magical wolf, 39 points have been awarded plus an additional buff.

+10% attack when fighting wolves"

...?

10% attack bonus? I never heard of this, but that's a pretty useful skill no? Putting that aside, I just got two new skills... Plus 32 points, but I lost 50 points due to the costs of burn and heat.

"Host: James (No last name)

Job: Hunter

Magic: Hypnosis, Magic Eyes, Fire

Skills:

Command

Adjust

Control

Infrared Vision

Heat

Burn

Power: 41"

Huh? Hunter? What's with the job thing? It keeps changing. Hey system, what's the point in that?

"System increases host's talent depending on the main job you focus on."

Talent? System, explain it simply please.

"If host has a job, the system will increase the talent that is required for that specific job. For example, if host is a student, studying will become 10% easier. Host can change job titles if he focuses on a single job."

...Damn, I love this system.

Well, this will help me when I become a student or start magic training with the help of a noble. Now, time to get adopted into a noble's family.
