5 Chapter 5: The Confession

Sarah was with her companions, having lunch. Today was the day she's going to confess to her friends about her feelings towards a guy.

After their supper, Sarah told them that she has something urgent and confidential to discuss with them. So she led them out of the cafeteria to discover a more private place to talk. All ears were on Sarah, ready to hear out what she's about to say.

"Uhmm... guys, I have a crush on someone..." Sarah said, fidgeting her fingers, looking bewildered and perplexed as her cheeks were glowing pink. Her companions gasped in hysteria, and their eyes widened. Mavis snapped back and teased, "Oohh... Someone's in love~! So who's the lucky lad?", elbowing Sarah while her eyebrows were wiggling with a mischievous grin plastered on her face.

Sarah reddened further and stuttered, "I-I-I don't know his n-name, but I fell in l-lo-love with him when I bump into him in Holland College... He did introduce himself but I-" Mavis inserted, "You weren't paying attention because you were in cloud-nine...?"

Sarah agreed shyly while her companions chuckled at her adorable and dainty respond. Pauline knew who it was, the guy was in the same homeroom as hers.

It's been a few months since Sarah confessed about her crush towards someone. Mavis remarked Sarah taking glances at someone or looks around as if she's searching for someone every time Sarah visits Pauline's homeroom. She was contemplating hard on who stole her best friend's heart. The realization hit her as she only saw one guy talk to her on Holland College and Sarah seemed like she was taking glances at him, so she decided to ask Sarah to clarify, "Sarah, is it the same guy who caught you from almost collapsing at Holland College?"

"Y-yeah, h-how, did you know?" Sarah asked Mavis, surprised at the sudden question. 'It's kinda obvious' Mavis thought as she rolled her eyes. Mavis smiled and answered, "Nah, just wanted to confirm." Olivia was getting curious who this guy is since she wasn't present when everything transpired. Olivia ordered Sarah to show her who this guy is, and Sarah led them to him. When they arrived at Pauline's classroom, Sarah saw the guy and pointed at him. Pauline said, "Isn't that, Aiden?"

Mavis snickered silently as she saw Sarah blushing like a ripe red tomato. A few days later, the whole group was happily conversing about love except Olivia. Mavis discerned that Olivia was sitting morose and didn't even utter a word. She asked, "Olivia, are you okay? You didn't speak a word today..." Olivia replied, "Yeah, I'm fine... just thinking about something..."

Sarah questioned, "Olivia, do you have a boyfriend?" There was an awkward moment of silence until Olivia answered, "Yes, I did... but we broke up..." The three gasped in shock and went into giving Olivia an apologetic look. Sarah responded, "I'm sorry, Olivia. I didn't know..."

"No, it's okay... it's not like I told you guys about this before..." Olivia replied. Pauline then asked, "Why did you break up with him? What did he do to you?" Olivia took a deep breath and her companions noticed a gleam of tears in her eyes. She took out her cell phone and displayed the following message. Sarah, Mavis, and Pauline were horrified as they read the following words.

SAMAR: "You think you're incredibly intelligent, huh?! How could you even imagine that you would migrate to Canada and me not knowing about it?! I thought that I meant something to you! Would it have killed you, to say goodbye!? How could you do this to me!? That's why you just dumped me before you left, right?! You think threatening me, and scaring me was the best way to say goodbye!? I should have known that I was dating a bloody, selfish, and the most disgusting girl in the school! Anyways, don't ever try to contact me! JUST LEAVE ME ALONE! I don't want to see your filthy face anymore!"

Pauline asked Olivia with severe doubts in mind, "I know that I shouldn't ask this, but furthermore, why on earth did you threaten him!?" Olivia replied, "Because I didn't have the nerve to go up to him and tell him that I was leaving. He would think that I was leaving because of him; even if I tried to make him understand he wouldn't. He would feel that it was selfish of me to leave the country for my own good. I really love him, but my academics come first!"

Olivia slammed her hands on the table and then burst into tears as a sign of defeat. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to yell at you guys..." She said, looking down. Mavis said, consoling her, "It's okay, Oli, we know you didn't mean it. Come here, and give me a hug." Later, Sarah and Pauline had a gleam of concern in their eyes. And they all remained silent until the bell rang.
