5 Prophecy

You know that moment when you realise that you have been waiting for something that's never going to happen yet you can't just give up because that something means everything to you?

Sitting on my bed, I just couldn't get my mind out of the whirlpool of confusion and hurt. The longer I exist , the more I feel like my existence is meaningless.

With each passing moment, the truth that my mate doesn't want me is engraving itself deeper in my mind and my heart feels like thousands of surgical needless are puncturing it mercilessly.

Alpha Ashton has been my centre of attention for as long as I remember. He is my first crush , the first and only boy I ever admired from afar. Most of all He is my soulmate.

I never really know how to let go of someone because there was never any need to let go. He infuriates me , he intrigues me and he just makes me feel things that I have never felt before.

As much as it's hard to think a life without him , it's harder when I remember that he is my mate. Without him , I would never experience those energy sparks running through my body exciting each cells or the wholesome feeling of being enough, being complete.

Watching him interact with Lucy , It was a bitter sweet memory. When he is with her , it's like the rest of the world didn't matter for him .

During the ride back home, I was talking to my mom on phone when my mom teased me about how my mate made me forget my mom because I didn't call her after moving in.

With our werewolf hearing, it was not hard to listen to someone on call. So I was mortified that Alpha Ashton and Lucy heard it .

When I looked at him after cutting the call in a hurry , he was just so invested in Lucy. Lucy seemingly was upset about something and he was just soothing her by drawing circles on her hand and maybe talking to her through mind link.

I saw the way he looked at her , it was the same way I looked at him , with longing , with pain and with care.

Rejection from him wasn't coming soon from his behaviour. Besides rejection would weaken our wolves and the last thing I want is our pack to fall apart because of me.

" Don't even think about rejection, Ely. This is what we have always dreamt of. This is our biggest blessing. We can't let go off him. " Faith whimpered in my mind and I couldn't help but feel pity for both of us.

" We will never reject him. But we will give him space. If Lucy is the one who makes him happy, then we will let him have her. " I suggested with a wince when Faith howled loudly in my subconscious.

" His life was supposed to be with us , not away from us. " She snarled before cutting the link between us.

I let her alone to mourn the loss of something we never had in the first place .

I was the human part with a better understanding but she was the animalistic part of me. It would take a lot more than simple words to make her accept her mate didn't want her.

I was doing my biology assignment when alpha Ashton knocked my already opened door to get my attention.

" I wanted to talk to you. "

The last time he said that he forbid me from going to his party. So those words are kind of like a bad omen. Gulping the lump in my throat I slowly nodded.

" Lucy has found her mate ." That was the last thing I expected him to say .

" So , send her with her mate and live happily with us ." Faith snickered in my mind and I coughed awkwardly not to seem like a fish out of water.

When I finally found my voice , I timidly asked , " Who is he ?" Ignoring Faith who was muttering 'who cares'.

" He is Alpha Ryder from Knight pack . He is also my cousin ." He answered with gritted teeth. He must be in so much pain knowing Lucy belongs to someone else rightfully.

" He had told everyone that he found his mate . Being an alpha people would expect his luna to be by his side. With rogue problems , it's not safe for Lucy to stay at her home. Not when Chris is busy with this new beta rank. " He seems to be in so much pressure.

I watched him run his fingers through his messy curls and couldn't help but envy his fingers who got the chance to touch those soft locks of heaven.

" What can I do to help ?" I wanted to do something to ease his tension. He didn't need to deal with useless drama when he was new to this alpha position.

"The drama was caused by him if you forgot. He can just accept us and all drama would be gone leaving only romance. " Faith added with a sass which I chose to ignore.

" Lucy doesn't want to move in with Ryder . I have decided she will move in with me. I will need you to move in with Ryder instead. " He said and a growl broke free before I could stop it.

" How dare he throw us out ? He expects us to move in with a complete stranger , so he can play lovey - Dovey with Lucy ! " Faith growled out with rage and I felt my canines piercing my lips drawing a little blood.

" Calm down ! Faith. He is still our alpha. " I tried to cool her down before the alpha wolf in front of us takes this as a sign of disrespect.

I was equally hurt when he uttered those words without any emotion. He said those words without any care , like I wasn't his mate , like I didn't matter.

I so wanted to show him my middle finger and rush back to my house but that would give rise to a lot of questions . The last thing I wanted was my mom to know my mate threw me out like a tissue paper and I let him.

The numbness was taking over my mind as he left the room to let me pack. I checked the room thrice to make sure I took away everything that belonged to me , except my mate of course!

I didn't want to leave a single thing behind , that would remind Lucy and Alpha Ashton of my presence.

I took my luggage downstairs to find Lucy already reached with her things.

I saw another boy of our age , Sitting on the sofa. His aura was filled with power and authority yet his lips held a friendly smile.

" Hello . I am Ryder Blaze, Alpha of Knight pack. You must be Ashton's mate." He said taking my hand for a handshake and I nodded my head with a small smile.

" Call me Elena, Alpha Ryder." I replied, grateful that he wasn't cold and rude like someone else I knew.

" No formalities. Call me Ryder. " He said giving me his charming smile and if my heart wasn't captured by Someone else , I sure would have found it enchanting.

Alpha Ashton coughed getting our attention, his face as always void of any emotion. I guess he must be feeling ecstatic inside to have Lucy , all to himself.

I hoped that my eyes showed the pain and despair I was feeling at the moment when I looked at his face.

I wished to see something there , maybe a trace of helplessness or regret. I wished he would just yell at me to stop and tell me this was just a prank.

Only that was a wish which never came true . He didn't do anything except waiting for me to leave him . Ryder gestured for me to follow him to his car which I gratefully did.

I wouldn't have endured another moment of his presence knowing he basked in the void of my absence.

As soon as Ryder's car left the place , I knew I have lost my mate forever.

The ride didn't last long or Maybe I was too deep inside my mind to realise the time duration. I looked around the place where Ryder stopped and instantly recognised it as the neutral ground.

A neutral ground is an area where two packs have equal right and can seek refugee in case of emergency. This was the neutral ground between Knight pack and our pack.

I saw the beautiful two storey house standing with honour. I always envied the owner of this beautiful house , because the forest was so near . Now I know the house belonged to Ryder.

Ryder helped me to settle in the room beside his , because we were the only two persons in this big house.

His parents were taking the charge of the pack in Ryder's absence.

" Have you always lived here in this house ?" I asked curious, because I have never seen anyone living here . And I came here a lot .

"This house belongs to My Aunt, Ashton's mom. She gifted me this for my birthday last month. Two days ago , I gave control to my wolf while running and He crossed the boundary of our pack. That's when I found Lucy who was in the forest for a run as well. As soon as she recognised me , she ran away. I have been living here since then to investigate the matter. " Ryder replied with clenched jaw . We were on same page as it seems. I could see the flash of hurt and vulnerability in his face , as if it was physically hurting to utter those words.

" I realised Alpha Ashton was my mate when I saw him on his birthday. " I said with a bitter smile on my lips. The most memorable day of life didn't hold any happy memories.

" You know I have always liked Lucy , since I was a kid. Wherever she played , I did too. But my cousin and her were inseparable. I know the prophecy had predicted them to be mates but they didn't even try now that they know it's not true. " Ryder was now squeezing the life out of my wolf stuffie and I rescued the poor baby from the angry alpha.

" Prophecy ? What prophecy are you talking about? " I asked as soon as the word 'prophecy ' registered in my mind. A prophecy was like a prediction made by our ancestors which was passed through generations until it comes true.

" I knew my cousin was an idiot but never realised to which extent. Elena , the reason why Ashton and Lucy are having hard time believing we are their mates is because they always knew they were soul mates. " Ryder gritted through his teeth and I knew it hurt to imagine our soulmates with someone else.

"There is a prophecy about your pack which has been kept confidential for three generations. Ashton's great grand father performed a holy ritual to please the moon godess. This ritual needed incredible amount of devotion and discipline, if failed it could earn you the wrath of Moon goddess. But he took the risk . Fortunately he succeeded in pleasing the moon godess.

Moon goddess gave your pack a blessing. According to the prophecy , the great grandson of the Alpha will be mated with the great grand daughter of the beta of your pack . Their first born child would be an elemental, Having the power to control and manipulate all the five elements. "Ryder finished and I just looked at him with my jaw on the floor.

Holy mother of sweet corn demons !!

Now I know why Alpha Ashton and Lucy were joined to hip ever since I could remember. Even when they dated other people for short while , they would find their way back to each other at the end of the day.

Ryder left me to rest and gulp in the bomb that he had dropped me . That night I didn't get a wink of sleep because my mind kept pondering about the sick trick moon godess was playing with us.

If they rightfully belonged to each other and were destined for such greatness, Where did this new mate bond come from ? No wonder they were able to resist the bond , because now I think it's nothing but a huge blunder.

I woke up in the morning, expecting to find Ryder sleeping because I didn't know when his school started . But he surprised me with a plate of breakfast in my room.

" I forgot to mention, I have transferred to you school. So you wouldn't be missing my humble presence. " Ryder joked and I, for once , was happy to see him so cheerful early morning.

We left for school and I introduced my bunch to Ryder . Needless to say it didn't take long for them to mingle and Ryder's friendly attitude washed away all the awkward tension that came with him being an alpha.

During Lunch , We all sat together with Alpha Ashton and his bunch. The lunch was a filled with tension oozing from the four of us. But we tried our best to stop dwelling in there and busied ourselves with useless gossips.

Ryder insisted to accompany me when I told him I was going for shopping . The Clark twins would turn eighteen tomorrow and I wanted to buy something for them.

Let me tell you that was the biggest blunder I committed. Taking Ryder as your shopping buddy Costed me so much extra time because he refused to get out from various food shops.

Ryder Blaze , Alpha of one of the most powerful pack , took an hour to decide which flavour of ice cream he wanted. The boy selling the ice creams gave us stinky eyes but couldn't utter a word against an alpha.

At the end of the day , I was drained to say the least. Ryder gave me piggy back ride to my room and we both passed out on the floor of my room.

The next morning I woke up with a sore body and Ryder also whined about not being able to feel his neck.

It was a miracle how we got ready for school when our body had numerous bruises from the stoppage of the blood flow. I was never taking Ryder to shopping ever again.

I gifted Amy, a blue teddy bear and David, a pair of white shoes. The day rolled by , I realised I didn't have any classes after the lunch period.

I informed Ryder who whined about going through school alone , which I obviously ignored. On my way back to Ryder's place , I found David sitting under a tree with a crested fallen look on his face.

He must have sensed my presence because he scooted to his side to give me space to sit.

" I found my mate ." He whispered and I got alarmed at the tear drops that accompanied his sentence.

Nothing would have prepared me for what he was going to stay next.

" Lia is my mate. ".
