9 Lucy's Birthday

I woke up to someone poking my cheeks. I groaned and turned to other side , nuzzling my face into the soft pillow.

"Come on cupcake ,wake up. Please."Ryder pleaded but nothing was more favourite than sleep at this time. So his requests only met with deaf ears.

"Okay don't wake up. Ashton ! Ely can't talk to you now. " As soon as he finished his sentence I jolted awake and ran to bathroom without looking anywhere.

The thought of my mate watching me in bird nest hair and drool covered face mortified me.

After brushing my teeth and hair , I returned to my room to see Ryder laughing like no tomorrow.

At first I watched him confused but then it clicked me. This idiot tricked me. I sat there with a grumpy face and that stopped Ryder from laughing.

He stared at me for a second then burst into laughing and soon I joined him.

"Cupcake , I should have record your rush. Your face was like this house caught fire." Ryder said after we compose ourselves.

"That was not funny. Why did you wake me up at this ungodly hour of morning , we don't have school today." I asked him and he better got a good reason.

"Get ready cupcake. We will go to Ashton's place to wish Lucy." Ryder explained. Oh he wanted to wish Lucy.

Awww he was so sweet.

And not delaying anymore I got ready as soon as possible . I had prepared a cake for Lucy when I woke up in the middle of the night to a horrible dream. So I took

that with me and asked Ryder what he got for his mate. He showed me the heart shape pendant he brought for Lucy.

It took us twenty minutes to reach there. After parking his car we entered their house and I would regret that decission my whole life. We saw Alpha Ashton and

Lucy making out on his couch. I could feel my tears sting in my eyes but I refused to release them. I turned towards Ryder and his face was showing hurt

Which turned into complete rage. In a blink, he pulled Alpha Ashton away from Lucy and dashed towards him. Lucy was frozen in her place and I rushed

to stop Ryder.

He was about to punch Alpha Ashton when I reached in the middle of them and to my utter bad luck his fist collided with my lips.

Let me tell you it hurt like hell and now I knew that All the things Ryder ate was to empower his punch .

For a moment I lost my vision from the shock and could hear the annoying ring in my ears .

I wiped the blood from the corner of my lips.

Ryder was now asking forgiveness repeatedly,my mate was standing there with an angry expression what for I don't know. Lucy put ice on my wound

and I smiled at her gratefully. When Lucy went to kitchen I turned to Ryder and whispered "Don't spoil her day and give her the gift or else you

will loose that little hope you have".

He scoffed probably thinking about the scene earlier but obliged anyway and said sorry to both Lucy and Alpha Ashton.

We wished Lucy and I handed her the cake to which she thanked me.

"you didn't have to do so much. Thanks a lot. " she said and hugged me.

"It was not a problem at all as I love to bake."I hugged her back.

Then she turned towards Ryder as if asking for his gift. He dragged Lucy out of the room to give her gift , leaving me and Alpha Ashton alone.

I stood there awkwardly and he left the room.

I sighed and roamed my eyes all over the room. It was differently decorated when I was here.

Maybe Lucy got it redesigned after her moving in.

My eyes landed on a photogrph which was gracefully placed on the rack and my feet took me there.

It was photo of Lucy and Alpha Ashton in which both were smiling.

Alpha Ashton was looking like he won a million dollar and Lucy was smiling

genuinely.

Faith was howling in my mind with hurt and asking me to break the photo in to many pieces like they did to our heart. He never look at me with such

adoration and a pang of pain squeezed my heart painfully.

Despite of the pain I took the photo in my hand and cleaned the little dirt it had on it.

I smiled looking at them in the photo and placed it back.

My mate was happy so I should be as well.

I had no want to be like the girls in stupid movies , trying to be with other boys to heal my pain or to make my mate jealous (if thats possible).

I wanted to live in my own

world of love. No matter if my everafter would not have my mate but I would complete it with my love for him.

A throat clearing broke my reverie and I looked to see my mate standing there. Then he came towards me , making me look him confused.

"I will put the ointment on your lips." He said and I was about to protest when he cut me off.

"Stay still and silent." He ordered and I obliged.

He put the ointment gently on my lips and I was staring at his face.

I just wanted to stop the time at that moment. The way he caressed my lips with his thumb made me shiver and I could hear my heart beating faster.

After he finished he pulled away like nothing happened and it hurt me that he had so much effect on me but he was not influenced by me at all.

Soon Ryder came out with Lucy and Lucy showed my mate the locket she recieved from Ryder. It was a little odd that she was showing a love locket she received from her mate to her boyfriend with such adoration and weirder when Her boyfriend didn't seem to mind.

As we were leaving Lucy told us to come to the party again to which we agreed and left.

The time flew away swiftly and it was evening already. Jess called me to say that she was waiting for me at the party.

I went to Ryder's room and he was dressing like its his birthday but his mouth was full with cookies.

God!!!! Did he ever try to stay away from food for a while.

After noticing me he smiled at me sheepishly and ushered me outside. We halted at a shop to buy a gift for beta Chris as we both forgot about

him.

This time I rushed Ryder and thank heaven we reached the party in time.

Jess came to me and hugged me. We went to beta Chris to give him the gift. I saw Lucy dressed like a princess with her hand in Alpha Ashton's

arm.

Everyone wished her and beta Chrish.

After staying for a while Ryder decided to leave and I could not be more grateful.

It was a complete torture to see our mates holding hands and being all lovey-dovey like we ceased to exist.

As soon as we reached home Ryder went to his room and I followed him.

Then he broke down repeating a single word "why?".

It broke my heart to see him like that. He was always the cool and laid back guy , the life of the house. Watching him this vulnerable made my heart clenched with unseen anger and hurt.

I hugged him and let him cry his heart out but controlled myself not to break.

I decided to let my mate go for his happiness but day by day it was becoming impossible to bear.

After a while he calmed down.

" Sorry , cupcake. You had to see me like that. I must look horrible." Ryder said.

"It's okay Ryder. You always look horrible , so I am kind of used to it." I joked and he threw a pillow at me.

I yelled "pillow fight" and just like that we lost ourself in that fun , forgetting our pain and sorrow at that

moment.
