1 Her birthday
She was standing in her room fixing her hair, smiling. Today she was turning 8 years old and she knew that her family had prepared many surprises for her. She was wearing a magnificent dress designed especially for her.
Everything looked so magnificent, decorated especially for the little one of the family. Everyone had gathered in the living room and were waiting for Maya to come down.
After a while she finally decided to leave her room, and smiling she headed up the stairs.
As the little girl descended the stairs, everyone's eyes were on her. It was so beautiful. So magnificent, as if it radiated light like a pearl in their lives. She had such a mastery that she managed to win the hearts of everyone. She had beautiful traits inherited from her mother and it was clear that the little girl when she grew up would become one of the most beautiful women.
The feast had not yet begun as Maya's brother had not yet arrived. The father was nervous about brother's delay and was arguing with mother. But the family was already used to the problems brought by Adrian, the only son of the family.
After the phone call they received from him that he would not be able to join them at the birthday dinner, because according to him there was a job to be done, the party had already started and the family picture looked so fascinating. Everyone had gathered around the bread table and were tasting the food that mother had cooked.
It was a night that was supposed to be full of surprises for little Maya. The father was joking with mother about the food, while Maya was arguing with her sister who would get the last part of the cake that her mother had cooked. Everyone was so happy and everything seemed to be going as planned.
After dinner, mom was preparing dishes to cut the birthday cake.
Dorela, Maya's sister was helping her mother, while Maya and her father were sitting by the fireplace making jokes about the gifts Maya was looking forward to seeing.
And at the end of their magnificent living room , mother was entering with Maya's favorite cake and lighted candles for her daughter.
Maya was so happy to have them by her side and was celebrating her birthday. She was so happy and so proud of each of them. She had with her the most wonderful people in the world and she already felt blessed to be part of such a family. No matter what , she would always adore her parents; for the care they had shown her, the love they had given her.
After turning off the candles, Mom was looking for the knife but apparently forgot it in the kitchen. Maya was shouting with a smile on her face that no one should touch her cake because she was going to take the biggest piece for herself and ran to the kitchen. She was looking for the knife when she heard the door knock.

After finding it and seeing that no one had noticed that someone was knocking , she ran to open the door. She was hoping that behind that door her brother would look like the bear he had promised her for birthday but he was not the brother.
Not everything we want in life we get and not always fate brings us what we hope for. In fact all that happiness disappeared when behind that door appeared five big men.
