Bam bam bam

The thudding of speakers shook the area. It was a moonless night. One on which even the stars had decided to hide away and deprive earth of their glow. The only light here come from the multi colored strode lights and flickering decorations scattered across the garden.

On this dark night the bodies of the young moved in tune with the beat of the speakers. They were wild and crazy. Heads bopping, booties shaking, legs jerking and arms flailing. Everyone was having a good time raising the temperature of this cold night. Bodies covered in sweat as they donated their heat to the atmosphere with a smile.

Among these people dancing the night away, there stood one man at a table near the edge of the garden. He did not move his body like the rest but had his eyes watching a path from his drink, to the lady in a hot pink sequined dress.

Her blonde hair clipped up and loosening as she moved, the spaghetti strap slightly slipping off her shoulder, the hem of her dress that she kept pulling down as it crept up her thigh. He watched it all. Even though they had not spoken yet he had made up his mind that she was the woman he would be taking in bed tonight. Everything about her excited him and made him long for what she would taste like, what she would look like under him and what sounds he could bring out of her.

He was just about done with his drink and ready to approach her when someone else caught his eye. A male with short black hair had suddenly appeared beside the woman. He had his arm around her waist and gave her a gentle peck on the cheek before whispering something in her ear. She said something back and gave an affirmative nod before the male left. It was evident they were a couple and any plans of taking her home were futile; yet the man continued to watch her.

Seeing the male leave her side, he put down his glass and began his approach. Entering the maze of people on the dance floor you could easily lose sight of someone if you looked away for a single moment. So he walked across the floor with his eyes fixed on her.

"Becky?" He asked once he reached her, acting as though he had not recognized her at first glance.

"Oh my gosh Daniel!" The lady called back her eyes wide with surprise to see him behind her.

"What are you doing here?" He asked, "I thought you quit the party girl life?"

"I tried to." Becky flashed him a smile, "But something keeps pulling me back in."

"Well I am thankful for whatever it is since it allowed me to meet you like this." He hoped to make her blush with his words.

The conversation between the two drew on with Daniel being as coy as he could. Openly flirting despite the mixed response he was receiving.

"Hey baby." A voice called sending shivers down his spine. He turned to see the black haired male had returned and came to stand beside Becky. He was clearly more handsome and had a voice that commanded even the attention of other males.

"Who's this?" Daniel asked, his eyes locked on the other male.

"Oh right." Becky said realizing they don't know each other, "Daniel, this is Felix." She turned to the other male, "Felix, this is Daniel. A former classmate of mine."

Becky had introduced the man beside her without giving any title of who he was to her. To Daniel that was a free pass to say he could just be a friend. To Felix, it was a statement that put him on edge and had him watching Becky with concern. However, neither of them dared to ask her anything further on the matter.

The three stood locked in an awkward conversation of Daniel flirting and Becky playing hot n cold as Felix looked on in anger. The blood in Felix's veins boiling with every word Daniel spoke. He knew Becky. She was sometimes too polite for her own good and would most probably claim she had not noticed someone was flirting with her. He knew this and yet Felix felt outraged that she continued to entertain the man's words.

Meanwhile, Daniel felt the night may very well go in his favor. He decided to take a step forward and stretched his hand to graze Becky's shoulder.

Upon feeling his touch Becky's eyes widened slightly but she said nothing. Interpreting her silence as permission he got the idea to do it again. However, this time before his fingers could feel the smooth texture of her skin, a hand appeared around her and pulled her back taking her out of his reach.

"I prefer that you don't touch her so much." Felix stepped forward. There was a low growl in his voice that accompanied the disdain in his eyes. The two ensured that his words came out as more of a warning than a request.

"Woah. I didn't mean any offence man." Daniel said raising his hands in surrender as he took some steps back, "I guess I am just a little too... comfortable around her." He had his eyes locked on Becky as he bit his lip on his final words.

It was subtle but Felix noticed it. He had a bad feeling from the time this guy approached Becky and now he was sure of why. Daniel wasn't the type of friend he wanted around her especially in her drunken state. There was no telling what he would try.

"Calm down Felix..." Becky said taking one of his hands off her shoulder. "Daniel and I are just catching up."

"Let's go Becky." Felix said taking her hand in his and throwing her bag over his shoulder.

"Wh... why?" She whined reluctant to leave the dance floor, "I want to dance some more."

"Just come with me." Felix responded dragging her behind him "It's getting late."

They had successfully gotten through the venue and to the front yard. Compared to the lively atmosphere at the back there were only a few people scattered here, chatting and minding their own business under the low thump of the bass boosted speakers.

"Will you let go already." Becky screamed prying her hand out of his once they got through the door. "What was that?" She looked up at him with glaring eyes and flared nostrils.

"What do you mean 'What was that'?" He looked at her, his expression twisted with anger and voice lowered. "It is time for us to leave."

"Well I was still having a good time. There was no reason for you to drag me out here."

"A good time?" His eyebrow raised as he asked sarcastically, "You were having a good time having some random guy hit on you?"

"He was not hitting on me." Her fists balled at her sides. "He was just friendly because we've known each other for so long."

"Everything he was saying was him hitting on you. He even kept touching you like you were...."

"Once! He touched me once and it was just a brush on my shoulder."

"And he was ready to do it again until I pulled you back!"

The argument continued with the two spewing out their points and talking over each other. Only hearing what they wanted to and not trying to understand each other. They now had the attention of nearly everyone in the front yard. Some tried to play it off and act like they couldn't hear, while others boldly turned their heads to get a proper view of the spectacle.

"You're always like this." Felix scolded, "Always letting random guys throw themselves at you like we're not together."

"Well you're always hovering over me and jumping to conclusions about everything." Becky responded, "Even now..."

"If I'm just jumping to conclusions then why didn't you introduce me as your boyfriend?" He interrupted her to pose a big question. "You could have made it clear to him from the beginning but you choose to make it look like we aren't together." He was finally asking her about the thing that bothered him the most about this situation. When Becky had the chance to make it clear she was in a relationship, she didn't say anything. She introduced Felix like he was any other person.

"It's not like it's something Daniel needed to know." She tried to defend herself, "He doesn't like me anyway so it doesn't matter."

Upon hearing her words, a part of Felix's heart sunk. He didn't know what answer he could expect to his question, but hearing Becky say it didn't matter was definitely not something he wanted to hear. The anger he felt began to slowly leave him. An immense sorrow mixing into it that choked his words when he tried to speak, "So telling people you're in a relationship doesn't matter to you?" He looked into her eyes. His brown eyes meeting her green eyes, searching them for an answer.

"I didn't mean it like that. It's just that I..."

"Let's go." Felix turned towards the car park. Whatever she was about to say he didn't want to hear it. Not when his emotions were in such a mess.

Becky didn't try to argue this time. She simply followed a step behind him. The yard that had been hosting their squabble now returned to its previous state. The low thudding of the speakers in the backyard now making it feel more empty than it was before. The audience that had watched them argue now monitored them walk to their vehicle and drive off. Leaving suspense of what would happen between the two.
