2 Chapter 1

Zary's POV

Another year had passed, but at least now I won't get bullied. Not again, I won't let them. Ever since the day I stepped in this school. Since the day I started highschool, my life became miserable. As if my mother's death wasn't bad enough. No one even tried to understand me. I entered the room where I will be spending a whole school year just to be hated. As I entered, all eyes were on me. But not with admiration, if anything it was hatred. They hated me for fighting back. They don't even know the whole thing yet they still avoid me. As if I was to blame for everything. They look at me as if I was the most heartless person in the school. I wouldn't do that if they haven't pushed me to hard. Afterall, I promised Mysth that I would be good while she's gone. But it was just too much for me to take. But it's alright, I hate them too. There's no need to act like I don't, just to please them. I sat on one of the chair in the corner of the room. There are few students today since it's the first day of class. About 80% of the class was present but no one seated close to me. Not even the grossest boy in class. The closest one to me is seated two seats away. But it's alright, I don't care anyways. They don't care about me so why would I do that to them? A few moments later, 10 minutes before the class starts. Someone entered the room, I was almost quite sure that she's a transferee. But I had this strange feeling of familiarity. As if we knew each other from before. But it could be just my mind playing tricks on me. Am I that miserable to imagine someone was actually familiar with me? That she'll talk to me? Besides, by the end of the day, she'll be looking at me with those cold piercing eyes like the others. Those eyes with a mixture of hatred, disgust, and fear. She walked towards where I am and sat next to me. She must not have heard of me yet. Well any moment from now, I bet she will even ask for a section change just to get away from me.

"Hi." she greeted me.

I looked at her and just nodded. 'Any moment now.' I thought. A few minutes later the teacher finally came in and started the first day of class routine. From introductions down to light activities. Then it was lunch time. Because I know that the cafeteria won't even give me a single wood to sit on. Even if there was a vacant seats those kids won't let me have that. That's why I always bring my packed lunch with me. I know that my classmates don't want to stay with me even for lunch so they'll probably eat at the cafeteria or in some places in school that I probably never been to just to get away from me. Who knows where? In just a minute after the bell rang, the class was already almost empty. There's only two of us left. Me and that transferee. I wonder if anyone have even bothered invitng her to lunch. Or simply telling her about me. I guess not because she should have evacuated the class in a snap if someone did told her. I opened my lunch box thinking that she had left the cafeteria. I look in her direction in dismay as she was just staring at me and was smiling. Kinda creepy if you asked me, I mean, I was never used to that kind of attention since the 7th grade. When she noticed me looking back at her, she grin. She then moved her chair beside me. I don't even know if I should run now. It's just really weird, you know?

"They told me, I shouldn't go near you. Why is that?" she started.

"Shouldn't you be asking them that instead of me?" I replied.

"Well, there's always two sides of the story. Right?"

"You can say that now because they're not here."

"I can say it whether they're here or not."

"Yeah right."

"Anyway, do you wanna eat lunch together?"

She offered but I just stared at her. I mean, why would she want to be with someone hated by the school? Something's just not right. She noticed that I was just staring at her, so she offered me a hand.

"I'm Amethyst, and you are?"

"Amethyst?"

"Yeaaah, that's my name. It came from my birthstone. Why? Do you have a problem with that?"

I blink twice to regain my consciousness.

"Ugh, yeah... I mean no... you just have the same name as my childhood friend. Anyway, I'm Zach."

"No way, is that you Zary?" she asked.

"Uhm, Mysth?"

"Oh it really is you. Sorry I haven't recognized you. You know about my condition, right?"

"Yeah, haha of course. It's hard to recognized someone from long ago with a normal vision anyway." I said awkwardly.

She then hugged me from my seat, probably forgetting about the food in my desk which causes it to fall down scattering all of what's inside on the floor, and some on my pants.

"Oh, I'm so sorry. I forgot about the food. Here just take mine." she quickly offered.

She hand over her lunch box. I declined and simply told her that I'll just get some food from the cafeteria. But she insisted. I told her that we should just share her food, since I can't take anyone's lunch for my own satisfaction. Also, I don't want rumors spreading about me getting lunch from others. Not like I had done that, and partly, I just don't like going to the cafeteria either. I told her that I would get a broom and a dustpan from the storage area to sweep off the mess. I then proceeded to the storage room and tried getting some brooms from one of the janitor. But he won't let me borrow and insisted that he'll be the one cleaning the mess. So I just leave it up to him. He then went to our room while I was following him at his pace. On our way to the room, someone tried to block me with its leg but I was able to see it just in time for me to dodge it. I look at the one who attempted to block my way, and there, I saw a girl. She was the one who spread a rumor about me years ago. I just ignored her and decided to get back to our room but she blocked my way. She's desperate for attention.

"What do you want?" I said with a gritted teeth.

"Oh come on, you know what I want." she replied leaning to me showing off her long fake lashes as if it's the most beautiful lashes anyone could have.

'How pathetic.' I thought.

"I'm not a mind reader just so you know." I said sarcastically and decided to continue my walk, but she just keeps on blocking me.

If we weren't in the school ground she would have been lying on the floor by now, good thing I can still hold back my temper. Not that I couldn't do that, but rather, I just really hated her.

"I want you Zach, isn't that obvious?" she said flirtatiously.

"Sorry to burst your bubble but I don't feel the same, now if you'll excuse yourself from further embarassment and get off my way." I said not pleading but rather ordering her.

She didn't move a bit 'cause she was so occupied with what I said so I took the chance to get to the room. She didn't react as I moved passed her, or rather, she couldn't. Her pride's too high just accept what I said. Well I get that she's the school's popular cheerleader but to me, she's just the school's thot who just lacks attention. Besides, why is she so desperate for me to like her? Afterall, she's one of the people who made my life a misery in this school. I then decided to take my

last three steps towards the room, but I saw Mysth just watching from the doorway. Have she seen the whole thing?

"I'm sorry you had to see that. Did the janitor left already?" I said so she won't ask.

"Ugh, yeah." she responded not looking at me.

"Shall we eat now?" I asked.

"Of course." she said, now mindful.

Mysth's POV

After we ate lunch, I decided to ask Zary about what happened between him in the girl. As well as why the class hated him. I just couldn't get it out of my mind. I noticed earlier before the class started that everyone look at him with fear, and some with anger. On the second class subject, someone from the back throw a piece of paper in my desk saying I shouldn't get close with him. It's not like I did plan to but because of that paper, I decided to do it anyway. Not because I want to be hated too but, I don't like anyone to be left out. It just doesn't feel right. It was just a bonus to find out that he was actually my childhood best friend, Zary. I lost contact with him when we went to the states for my father's medication since smart phones and social media weren't really "in" at that time so it was hard staying connected. Now, I finally found him just to find out sooner that he's hated by the entire class. I want to help him, and I can't do that without knowing the whole thing.

"May I know, what happened to you while I was gone?" I asked.

"Well, my life became a hell." he said briefly.
