18 DO YOU LIKE IT....

"What if none of you realise someone is stuck here" James asked as he shuddered at the idea of being stuck in between these grass walls for days.

"Look up, this area is the staircase which leads to the second floor of the library which is also my Dad's study" Evelina said as she pointed out towards the glass flooring of the staircase which gave the view of the maze below.

"So if we get stuck inside this maze, Dad will find out at least in a day's worth of time" Evelina said as she slowly walked forward while lifting up her gown.

She then stopped when she realised that there was no response from James, she turned around and noticed that James's expression was a bit pale under the moonlight.

"Why are you so pale" Evelina asked as she moved closer towards him to get a closer look.

"That means there is a good chance we might be stuck over here for a whole night" James asked in a slightly wavering voice.

Evelina laughed softly, there was a hint of helplessness and amusement in it. She did not know what to do with this teenage boy who was nothing but a big baby who was easily afraid.

"Don't worry James, I assure you that I know the way to the back garden and even if we get lost, we won't be stuck for a whole night, at the most it would be till the banquet ends" Evelina tried to reason out with him.

When the reason sinked into him and his logic started to work, his face slowly regained its colour but it turned hot because of embarrassment, he thanked for the darkness which did not give away his hot face.

James nodded his a bit awkwardly as he nodded in understanding. Evelina also nodded in amusement and then continued her way forward. Her every step was elegant and sophisticated mesmerizing James in it.

Evelina stopped after some distance and carefully lifted her gown up and slowly slipped out of her heels as it was making it hard for her to walk on the grass. She was about to remove the heels from the second leg when she lost her balance.

James immediately noticed that she was about to fall and in quick reflex held her waist, preventing her from falling. He slowing bent down while supporting her waist with one hand, the other hand helped her remove the heel from her foot.

He then made sure she was steady on her foot before he let go of her waist. Evelina turned red with embarrassment, which James caught immediately as he felt the rise in temperature. James chuckled internally but decided to keep quiet so as to not make it even more awkward for Evelina.

"Thank you" Evelina mumbled her thanks quickly as she walked forward with James quickly following her.

After few minutes of figuring out the grass walls and twisting and turning, they were finally out of the maze. They both simultaneously heaved a sigh of relief making them chuckled in amusement.

"Why did you sigh" James asked as he looked at Evelina curiously.

"This was my first time figuring out this maze, though I knew the layout even I was a bit nervous. Even I did not want to be stuck inside the maze until the banquet ends" Evelina said in a matter-of-factly tone.

"Why did you sigh, looks like there was lack of trust in their" Evelina asked him a question back, her tone calm yet there was clear teasing in it.

"It is not about trusting you or not, even if we were to get lost in there I won't hold you responsible because we are responsible for ourselves. The moment I decided to follow you blindly I trusted you so I will trust you no matter the result" James shrugged it off with a casual smile.

Evelina was quite stunned, she did not expect such kind of maturity from a fifteen year old. She thought that her case was an exception as she was brought up this way and was forced to mature earlier than needed but looks like she was wrong.

A gasp left James's mouth without him realising it, the view in front of him was mesmerizing. There was a sea of roses, different types which looked beautiful under the moonlight and small hanging orange bulbs in the between.

There was a small tea are in between the sea of roses which a pyramidal roof to it. Evelina led James towards the place while passing through the rows of roses.

"Why are roses only the plants over here" James asked as he looked around. All her could see was sea of roses, from different kinds to different colours and origins.

"Sam and Lauren's birth flower is Rose, my middle name is Rose as well so my Mum loves it a lot and tends to it" Evelina explained silently as she took in the view.

James nodded in understanding, he looked at Evelina who was completely engrossed in admiring the view in front of them. He couldn't help but get lost in her beauty, the way she carries herself and the way her eyes shine under the moonlight.

"Do you like it" Evelina asked as she looked at James, who was lost in his thoughts while his eyes were focused on Evelina's face.

"I do" James said as he smiled warmly towards Evelina, he chuckled at how easily he lost his composure around her.

Evelina nodded at his answer, she then proceeded towards the tea area and sat down in one of the seats. She motioned for James to sit down as well, which the latter obeyed without any hesitance.

"The night breeze is nice right" Evelina asked as she looked at the vast expanse of roses which puts her at ease.

"It is, tomorrow night when we will be at burrow after dinner let's sneak out. There is a beautiful lake behind there, the night breeze over there is pleasant as well" James said as he smiled at Evelina warmly.
