13 A Course For A Change

Andy has had his parents ruling his life for these past years, following whatever they told him to do just to please them. He never even had a single chance in his life to make decisions on his own about his life.

As a kid, his choice of school, the meals he ate, the kind of friends he took, and almost everything about him was decided by his parents but now, he has had it to the neck. He was no longer going to let anyone rule his life, especially with the decision at hand.

Hearing very well the calls of his dad behind him, he still walked on with a hiss, not bordering to stop nor turn around.

He furiously sauntered over to his car, unlocking it as he glided in. He turned it on, sparking it as he slowly directed it to the gate and sped out of the house.

Kalisa was standing in her room looking through the glass window when she saw her brother drive furiously out of the house. She sighed, lightly shaking her head as she headed back to her bed.

"Why should parents be so heartless like this? Allowing money to blind them and selling out the happiness of their kids. GOSH..I don't even understand my parents. Can't we for once have a normal life like any other kids..?"

Kalisa was lamenting about their pathetic and controlled life when she heard her father shouting her mother's name furiously.

"Just what I needed right now," she growled sarcastically, picking up the novel she was reading earlier on from the side drawer beside her bed.

****************

Andy drove through the streets with a stern face fighting very hard to keep his emotions under control as his earlier quarrel with his Dad kept ringing in his mind.

"Why do they keep on doing this to me? Are they going to control my life forever? This is driving me crazy."

He banged his hand on the steering wheel as he drove off the road, pulling up. He put his head on the wheel, overwhelmed with exhaustion. He stayed in that position for a while before hitting the road again.

Tiara has been sitting in the café for 30 minutes now and yet Andy has not shown up. She kept glancing expectantly through the glass wall of the café and yet, there was no sign of him.

"Is he going to sit me up?"

She winced in apprehension, glancing down at her wristwatch.

"It's been 30mins now or has anything happened to him..?"

She reached out for her phone to call him but suddenly stopped. "What if he is busy with his boss? No, I don't think it's a good idea to call." She placed the phone on the table. "I will wait for some time and if he doesn't show up then I will just leave."

Tiara waits on for another 20mins but there was still no sign of him.

"I don't think he is coming." she picked up her bag about to leave when she saw him through the glass wall, walking in. "Such arrogance," she growled, sitting back again.

Andy slowly pulled the café door as he walked in, scrutinizing the shop with his eyes for Tiara then he spotted her sitting around one of the tables at the right corner of the shop.

He chuckled as he noticed the stern look on her face and shuffled over to her.

"Good afternoon, Tiara."

"You're late Andy. I can't believe you're allowed to work in such a big company with such a poor attitude. I hope you don't usually sit your clients up like this."

"Gosh Tiara, can you stop nagging already..? I'm here now, why stressing things." he scoffed.

"Such a jerk, he doesn't even know how to say sorry. Such impudence," she growled.

Andy sat with slitted eyes, looking at Tiara, and drew in a deep breath.

"Anyway, I'm sorry for keeping you waiting."

Tiara scoffed at his sudden change in attitude. "Let's get this meeting started already. Now tell me, what is the job about?"

"Well...speaking of that, I want you to become my fake girlfriend."

"What? Is that even a job? Who in his right mind would think of such a hilarious thing?"

"I'm serious Tiara."

She searched his face for any trait of a joke but found none.

"Are you serious about this?"

"Yes, Tiara. Does it look like I'm joking?"

"No but why?"

"There is no need for me to explain myself. Are you in or not? I'm going to pay you."

"Well..." she mumbled, sitting thoughtfully for a while. "Okay, I'm in."

"That's great then. Come, let's go." He picked up his keys, shrugging up from his seat.

"Where are we going?" she glanced at him quizzically.

"No questions, just follow me."

He shuffled off towards the entrance of the café.

Tiara scoffed, picking up her bag as she hurried after him.

Tiara didn't know what was going on but so far as she was not going to hurt anyone or lose anything, she was ready to play the girlfriend part for the sake of the money without her knowledge of the dangers ahead.

They both settled in the car and Andy drove off with Tiara having no idea of where they were heading.
