The Beginning

The year 2057.... USA....

A few years after the apocalypse, the development of mankind had been unparalleled. In this era, concepts that were abstract and foreign to the previous were but mere child's play. Intergalactic travel, Quantum Technology, all these concepts were now the day to day activities of the men living on this earth, and it is all due to the presence of mana, a metaphysical form of energy that had the ability to make the impossible possible.

Cities were developed to extents that would make a man who had lived previously collapse at the sight of such advancements. All in all, mankind had evolved and the once weak species on the brink of destruction was now a glorious empire.

.......

Deep within the slums of the United States, in an abandoned shack, a young man sat quietly with his eyes closed. His face, though relatively handsome did not match the scrawny and thin body he had.

His body shook several times as beads of sweat formed all over his forehead. His body began to convulse as his nose bled. Immediately he sat up and opened his eyes, revealing a pair of glistening sliver pupils.

" Fuck. Why do I keep having nightmares?" He sighed as he wiped his face with his hands, which brought his attention to the blood flowing from his nose. " Aarrrgh not again." He frustratedly groaned as he lifted himself and slowly walked to the counter and picked a small plastic bottle filled with an unknown liquid.

He opened it and drank it in one fell swoop. After drinking it, the bleeding stopped immediately, as colour emerged on his pale face and he threw the bottle away.

Opening his fridge, he took some stale bread and frozen meat along with some milk and he sat down to eat without any form of cooking. Not that he couldn't cook, but he felt lazy to do so.

His name was Silver, a name he sincerely disliked and had his doubts whether it was actually his real name. He wasn't wrong to feel that way as the old beggars and poor people living in this slum called him that because of his weird silver colored hair and pupils.

That was not the only weird thing about him. He was actually a traverser and orphan from the year 2025, a catastrophic year in the history of mankind, the year of the apocalypse, a planet destroying event that had taken away billions of life on earth including his own.

" Sigh. At least it's not all that bad for me. At least I get to live in this era where even the most ordinary amongst men could lift an entire building with just one hand. And still no signs of my arcana." He sighed and sulked afterwards.

Silver knew he was special. After all, he was the only person in the world who didn't have an arcana.. or so he thought.

Arcana was a type of bloodline or ability that every other human in the world possessed, an evolutionary trait, as a result of the influx of mana or metaphysical energy in the earth. Arcana development began a few years after the apocalypse, a catastrophic event which almost destroyed the planet, taking billions of lives as a result.

Simple animal and flora species evolved into monsters with devastating strengths, and mankind was on the verge of extinction until three men rose up. Fuxi, the eternal, the first man to develop an arcana and a very rare one at that. He had the power to manipulate Space. Vulcan from the USA, a man blessed with the ability to control flames. With his ability he purged his country of all lurking monsters, and finally Nomu, a hero of an African heritage. His was gifted with an arcana that allowed his body to move at near light speed.

These three men rallied the troops of mankind, as they fought back to reclaim the land that was rightfully theirs. A few centuries later, other humans apart from the families of the three great primogenitors began to develop arcana.

Soon about 99% of man had developed arcana and had evolved. Some developed elemental type arcana, others, augmenting and the rest shapeshifting type. In such a time, the abstrusities of cultivation had been reintroduced, as men fought to strengthen themselves and their arcana through the use of mana. In such a time, immortality was but a years of cultivation and was so close to men..

" Sigh let's see what I have on my schedule today." He picked up a pair of glasses on his counter and put them on. The glasses were totally dark and even people with mana infused eyes would be unable to see through them, yet he could.

Although he didn't have an arcana, he had something that he could console himself with. His pair of eyes. Silver was born with a beautiful pair of silver eyes that could move anyone. His eyes allowed him to see miles and miles around him, allowing him to see every detail down to its atoms. He could see all sort of things, from energy to waves down to their atoms.

Although he had such an awesome power, he couldn't really use it well, else he'd really die. Due to not having access to mana, using the ability of his eyes came at a cost, draining his life force. This alone had a major role to play in his scrawny and thin physique, though hunger and poverty also played a part.

But even with the dark glasses on, he could still see beyond normal human parameters. Also, not to brag about it, but Silver was pretty smart for his age. He had learnt and mastered complex topics in Physics, Mathematics and even Engineering, and he was just 14. He had an eidetic memory that allowed him to never forget anything once he had seen it.

He also loved machines and technology. Seriously, which 14 year old kid could fix a completely dismantled and broken computer system after looking at it just once, well he could.

" Lemme take a bath first. " He run to the bathhouse and took a quick shower before dressing up in some worn out clothes. He made himself a cup of coffee and sat behind a fully functional computer system. It was quite shocking to have such an advanced level of computer system in an abandoned and old shack like the one he lived in, but he didn't care. He had made the system himself after he gathered the parts from a nearby incinerator.

" Okay let's see." Setting his coffee aside, he began to practice his programming skills. Soon codes that would've fried the brain of a normal man if he tried to learn appeared on his screen, as he typed with unending accuracy.

.....

" Silver! Silver! You there??" A few hours later, a banging sound was heard on his door followed by a loud and annoying voice.

" Sigh. Just come in already!" He sighed and facepalmed. The door opened to reveal a blonde haired young man in blue black uniform who wore an excited smile.

" What the hell is it this time Anderson? Shouldn't you be in school by now" Silver turned around on his chair as he looked at the young man in front of him calmly.

" Well, our teachers only taught us a few things like channeling our mana and how to defend ourselves blah blah blah..." He rubbed the back of his head, as he shifted the hair on his neck only to reveal a green tattoo of a lightning bolt.

Silver shook his head as he looked at his annoying roommate.

" So did you learn everything you were taught?" He looked at the blonde haired teenager who was flinching under his gaze.

" Well you know me. I can learn everything in a flash." Anderson spoke smugly. He wasn't wrong though. He had a green colored speed type arcana. Arcana were grouped based on their quality. Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet.
