A New Friend

She averted her eyes as soon as she could. His eyes were piercing right through her and it was making her nervous.

Soon, her father and sister returned and informed Fay all about her dorms and the rules and regulations that were to be followed. As they had to catch a flight back to China in an hour, her parents and sister left her in front of her dorm building and went away.

Still clueless of where to go, she bumped into someone and it ended in both of them falling on the ground with a thud.

"I'm so....sorry." Fay stuttered, looking embarrassed. She dared not meet the eye of whoever she had bumped into.

The person who had fallen with her started laughing. "It's really fine. It was my mistake too. I didn't see where I was going."

The little bit of Chinese accent in the person's voice gave Fay the courage to look up to meet a pair of amused Hazel eyes staring at her.

"You must be new here. Hi, I'm Li Feng Mian but everyone here calls me Mia because it's easy to pronounce." Feng Mian extended her hand towards Fay.

Fay nervously caught Mia's hands nad shook it lightly but she was pulled up with a force. She breathed a small laugh. "I'm Fay Kim. And yes, I am new."

Mia grinned widely. "Well, it seems that I have a new friend. Are you looking for your dorm? I'll help you around. If you don't mind, that is." She blabbered.

Fay grinned sheepishly. "That would really help me."

Mia's grin widened. "Okay, so let's first get you settled. What's your dorm room number?"

"Um." Fay shuffled through the papers in her hand, struggling to remember her room number. Finally, she found it. "It's 501."

Mia started jumping on her spot. "Really? Wow, that's my room number too. So we are roommates? Hell, yes!"

With that, she pulled Fay away from the gates towards their room 501.
