Chapter 1: The Beginning

We see a boy sitting on a stool in a bar. As he is talking to a red-haired man.

''So will you take me on your next adventure Shanks'' asked a seven-years old boy

''Hahaha you are just 7 years old, you cannot come with us'' The man now known as Shanks said to the seven-years old boy

''hmph I may look like a 7 year old, but I have a punch as strong as a pistol'' said the seven-years old boy

''heh do you want some juice then'' asked Shanks

''Yes, can it be apple juice'' answered the seven-years-old boy

A woman with green hair gave the boy apple juice

''Thank you Makino'' thanked the seven-years-old boy

''You are welcome Luffy'' said Makino

Luffy took a sip out of the juice, but just then Shanks started laughing

''Why would a pirate drink apple juice'' laughed Shanks

''You tricked me'' Luffy came to a conclusion

Just as Luffy said this, the doors of the bar were kicked and a man walked in. Then the man walked to Makino.

''Do you have some sake, it would be best to be around 10 barrels'' asked the man

''Sorry, but we just ran out of sake'' answered Makino

''What kind of bar is this, a bar that doesn't have sake?'' questioned the man

''Here take this'' said Shanks

Shanks offered a bottle of sake

''Do you think this will be enough'' asked the man

''WE ARE BANDITS'' announced the man

The man smashed the bottle in Shanks's head. Shanks is wet now.

''Look at all this mess'' said Shanks as he started cleaning the floor.

''You don't have to do that Shanks, I will do it'' said Makino and started to walk from behind the counter.

But just then the bandit slashed at the counter and broke several bottles of alcohol.

''If this bar doesn't have sake, let's get out'' The bandit said to the other bandits and they left.

"Why didn't you do anything Shanks'' Luffy asked

''It's just a little thing, there is no need to fight'' Shanks answered while laughing

Then Luffy angrily started to eat a weird fruit. Shanks didn't notice at first, because he was laughing. When he stopped laughing he saw Luffy finishing the fruit.

''Noo Luffy spill it out'' said Shanks commandingly while he ran to the boy

Shanks started to shake Luffy up and down. As he was doing that, something strange happened. Luffy's legs stretched and his face hit the floor. The whole bar went silent.

''You just ate the Gomu Gomu no Mi, a Devil Fruit, and now you are a rubber man and will not be able to ever swim again'' said Shanks worryingly

''Nooooooooo I won't be able to swim'' screeched Luffy

We see Luffy on the floor and the bandit from before above him with a foot in Luffy's face. Luffy was trying to break free but to no avail.

''Let me go you gorilla-faced weirdo'' Luffy said

''Please let him go'' Makino was pleading with the man

''I was going to let him go, but because of what he called me I am not going to'' said the bandit with an angry expression

''We will give you money just let him go'' an old man also pleaded

''Mayor'' said Makino

''No'' answered the bandit

''So this is where you are'' said Shanks with his hat covering his face

''Shanks'' Makino asked with some hope

''Heh'' one of the bandits put a gun to Shanks's head

''You know'' asked Shanks

''huh'' the bandit revealed a confused expression

''Pistols Aren't For Threats. They're For Actions! Are You Willing To Risk Your Life'' said Shanks

Just then Lucky Roo, one of Shanks's crewmates shot the bandit in the head and the bandit dropped with a thud

''You Can Pour Drinks On Me. You Can Throw Food At Me. You Can Even Spit On Me. I'll Just Laugh That Stuff Off. But Nobody Hurts A Friend Of Mine'' said Shanks in a threatening tone while lifting his head which revealed an angry face

''I will take care of this'' Benn Beckman said and started to take down the bandits

The bandit leader got scared and threw a smoke bomb on the ground, then grabbed Luffy and got on a small boat

After the smoke cleared Shanks and the others saw the bandit leader holding Luffy above the water by his collar.

''Put me down you gorilla-faced weirdo'' commanded Luffy while kicking and punching

''Ok'' said the man with an evil expression, then he threw Luffy in the water

When Luffy fell into the water he lost all strength and started to drawn. Just then behind the boat, a sea king rose from the water. It gobbled up the man before he could even scream, then the sea king turned to look at Luffy, it saw him as a dessert.

In the next moment, strong wind blow by and we see Shanks with Luffy in his arm. Shanks looked at the sea king with threatening eyes, the sea king got scared and swam away.

''Shanks'' Luffy said with a sobbing tone

''What is it Luffy'' asked Shanks

''Your ar-arm'' now crying, Luffy answered

''It's just an arm, I am glad you are safe'' said Shanks in a comforting voice

Shanks then swam to the dock with Luffy in his arm. When he got to the land, his crewmates and Makino came to see what happened. When they saw that he had only his right hand they were shocked.

''Are you sure you are alright'' asked Makino

''Never been more perfect'' said Shanks

''I have to leave Luffy'' Shanks said to Luffy

''Fine, but you have to take me with you'' declared Luffy

''No'' stated Shanks

''Ok, then I will become the King of Pirates and become the freest person in the world'' announced Luffy

Shanks's eyes widen for a second, but quickly composes himself

'He is just like Capitan Roger' thought Shanks

Shanks walked forward and placed the straw hat he was wearing on Luffy's head.

''I'll Leave This Hat With You. It's Dear To Me. Take Good Care Of It! Come Bring It Back To Me Someday, Once You've Become A Great Pirate'' Shanks said to Luffy

Luffy knew how much this hat meant to Shanks, but he gave it to him. Because of that, he started crying.

''I WILL BE THE KING OF PIRATES''

Then soon after Shanks and his crew left Dawn island.

After Shanks and his crew left Foosha Village, Luffy continued his normal life, but with the presence of the straw hat.

One day, Luffy's Grandfather came back to the island.

''Gramps what are you doing here ahhhhhh'' Luffy yelled while being chased by his grandfather

''Call me Granddad and come back here you little brat, I found out you befriended a pirate. You will be a marine'' Luffy's grandfather continued to chase Luffy

Until Luffy saw Makino in front of the bar he visited daily.

''MAKINO HELP ME AHHHHHHHHH''Luffy ran to Makino with all his strength

Makino was surprised by Luffy's yell, but when she saw what was happening, she let out a sigh.

Luffy hurriedly hid behind Makino.

When Luffy's grandfather saw this he stopped.

''Hello Makino'' greeted Luffy's grandfather

''Why do you always start chasing after Luffy when you visit Foosha village'' asked Makino

''That brat said he will become a pirate, can you believe it? My grandson becoming a pirate, outrageous'' answered the man

''I will not become just some pirate, I WILL BECOME THE KING OF PIRATES'' Luffy yelled the last part

His grandfather had an angry look ''Come here you ungrateful grandson'' The old man grabbed Luffy by the collar

''Put me down you old fart'' Luffy said to the man

"Now this sealed everything'' said Luffy's grandfather soon after raising his hand

''FIST OF LOVE'' yelled the man before hitting Luffy in the head

''aww'' Luffy started to cry and rubbed the place which his grandfather hit

''It hurts'' said Luffy while he was still crying

''Was that necessary Garp-san'' asked Makino

Monkey D. Garp, a navy vice-admiral and the navy hero

''He needs to learn'' Garp answered her

''We are going somewhere'' Garp lifted Luffy by the collar again and started running

''Gramps where are we going'' asked Luffy

''You will see'' answered Garp

After 5 minutes Garp stopped and put Luffy down, after he did that he went forward to knock on the door. When Luffy was put down by Garp, Luffy saw a butterfly and tried to catch it, but was unsuccessful and started to chase after it.

When Garp knocked on the door the first time no one answered, the second no one, and on the third time someone with a threatening tone called out

''Who is knocking'' the person opened the door

''Do you have a death wish'' said the person before realizing who it was

''GARP'' now fully awake the person yelled

''long time no see Dadan'' said Garp

''ye-yeah'' said back the person stuttering

''I am here to give you this'' placing a hand on Luffy's collar again and dragging him next to him

''This is Luffy he will stay with you from now on'' said Garp with a nonchalant look

''Nooo, not another demon'' yelled Dadan

''What are we doing here gramps'' asked Luffy

''You will be living here from now on'' answered Garp

''Garp we will not be able to handle two demons'' said Dadan

''I remember that you are bandits and I let you go because you said you will do everything I say'' said Garp. While Luffy got back to chasing the butterfly

''ugh ok'' Dadan accepted with a dejected look

''What is your problem'' yelled Luffy and got Garp's and Dadan's attention

They saw Luffy yelling at a kid on top of a tree because he spit on Luffy.

''Humph'' the boy turned around and left

''That is Ace, from here on out you will be his friend'' said Garp to Luffy

Luffy nodded

Garp left and Luffy went inside with Dadan

''Who is the kid'' asked a random bandit

''Garp's Grandson'' answered Dadan

Her answer made every bandit look frightened

"Nooooooo not another one'' yelled every single bandit that heard what Dadan said

''Dinner is ready'' called out one of the bandits

Everyone started to devour the food and Luffy was left with only one piece of meat in front of him, just as he was going to reach for it Dadan took it and ate it.

''HEY, that was mine'' said with anger in his eyes

''look brat, everyone has to work for their food here'' said Dadan

''but-'' Dadan interrupted Luffy

''You have to catch your food, look at him'' she pointed at Ace devouring food like the rest of the bandits

''understand?'' Dadan asked

''Yes'' answered Luffy

Later that night, one of the bandits showed Luffy, the room he will sleep in. There were two beds, he plopped on the left bed. As he was getting ready to sleep, the boy that spat in his face entered the room.

''Hello my name is Monkey D. Luffy'' said Luffy to the boy

The boy ignored him tho and went to the right be.

''Hey, what is your name'' asked Luffy

''Do you want to be my friend'' He asked another question

Luffy continued to ask questions, but still got ignored, but got tired and fell asleep

The next day Ace went out into the forest, Luffy tried to follow him, but lost him. Ace was too fast for him to catch.

In the next week Luffy tried to follow Ace, but to no avail

One day as Luffy was following Ace, Ace passed a bridge and when Luffy tried to pass the bridge, he felt everything slow down. He started to fall, Luffy didn't know what was happening and looked at Ace who was holding a knife. Luffy came to a conclusion. Ace cut the rope.

At that moment Luffy felt rage build up in him. Why why why he questioned, but no one answered.

As he was falling he heard water splash below him. He knew this is the end for him.

Like a bolt of lightning, it hit him. He could have gotten out of this situation if he was smarter and stronger. But he had to be a fool. Luffy was determined, if he survived he would become more serious and stronger

A splash was heard, and Luffy lost all strength and started to drawn. The river current swept him away, never to be seen again. Or will he survive?

After a day Dadan and the other bandits went to look for Luffy but didn't find him. They knew the next time Garp came to Dawn Island, they will be done for. Ace regretted what he did, he didn't know why he did it.

After Garp heard that Luffy was missing he was enraged

''WHAT DO YOU MEAN, HE IS MISSING" yelled Garp at all the bandits

''YOU HAD ONLY ONE JOB'' Garp's face was turning red

''If it wasn't for Ace, I would have executed you already. You better take good care of Ace, you hear!'' said Garp with a stern look

''YES'' all the bandits replied at the same time

We see Luffy somewhere near the river, face-first on the ground. He looked dead until.

''ught'' water came out of Luffy's mouth in a straight line then fell on Luffy's face, waking him up.

Standing up like an arrow, Luffy looked around confused.

''What happened'' until the memories of when he fell into the river came

''What was I even thinking, running after a person that spat in my face the first time we met'' said Luffy in a quiet voice

''Now that I know I am alive, I will do what I promised myself'' Luffy said in a louder voice

Luffy looked around and asked ''so where am I''

Luffy saw a forest so he started walking in the direction of the forest. Entering the forest he heard a sound behind him and turned, but there wasn't anything. So he continued walking in the same direction as before.

He heard it again and turned a second time, but there wasn't anything still.

'What the hell' he thought

He continued walking, but when he heard the sound again, it annoyed him. He turned in the direction of the sound and walked to a bush.

Suddenly a white flash was seen. Luffy jumped back and looked to see what almost hit him.

A white rabbit with red eyes was right in front of him.

'Just a rabbit' thought Luffy and letting his guard down.

Luffy and the rabbit stared at each other for a while until in a flash the rabbit jumped at Luffy

Luffy was surprised because he didn't think a rabbit could be this fast.

Luffy evaded the attack just in time not to be hit in the heart but got hit in the shoulder

''Why did it hurt, I am made out of rubber dammit'' Luffy immediately got his guard up and looked back at the creature

It stared at Luffy with its ruby-red eyes. Luffy was ready for anything.

When the rabbit attacked him again, Luffy thought of a way out, because he knew he wasn't a match for this white rabbit.

Luffy evaded the attack just in time and the rabbit landed behind him. He immediately turned around. 5 seconds passed and the rabbit launched at Luffy.

'Does it need 5 seconds to attack a second time' Luffy thought

'Let's test it' when Luffy barely got out of the rabbit's attack, he looked to see the rabbit standing in one place.

'It does need time to cool off' Luffy knew this was his only chance. He rushed at the rabbit and grabbed a tree with his palm. His arm started to stretch. Luffy ran with all his strength close to the rabbit and released his grip on the tree. His hand came back to him and passed him, heading in the direction of the rabbit.

''Gomu-Gomu no Pistol'' screamed Luffy with all his might

His fist hit the rabbit directly and send it flying into a tree. Luffy fell on his back, exhausted.

''ha..ha...I did...ha..ha..it'' he blacked out after saying that

After 30 minutes he woke up.

''I defeated the rabbit, hell yea'' yelled Luffy

After the yell, Luffy looked for the rabbit and found it on the ground next to a tree.

''I will cook this for dinner'' said Luffy

''Wait'' suddenly thought of something

''Why is this rabbit so strong, am I too weak or is this rabbit too strong'' Luffy questioned and looked at the rabbit that was now in his hands

''Whatever I will think about it later. I am too hungry to think'' Luffy said and started walking

''Now to find a good spot for a camp'' Luffy started looking for a good place

''Perfect'' Luffy found an uninhabited cave

Luffy walked into the cave and placed the rabbit on one of the stones. After that, he got out and collected some dry sticks and dry leaves.

'It's good I learned some survival skills when gramps left me in that forest' Luffy said in his mind

After Luffy came back to the cave he placed the sticks and leaves in one place, but took two sticks out of them and started rubbing one of the sticks onto the other one. Time passed and Luffy was able to get a small fire, he quickly got some of the leaves and let them burn. After that Luffy placed some of the sticks on top of the leaves and started blowing into the fire. Soon after the fire grew big and stable.

''Phew'' Luffy was relieved that he was able to get it on his first time.

''Now time to cook this rabbit'' Luffy looked at the rabbit with star eyes

He placed the rabbit on one of the sticks and started rotating it when it was needed

20 minutes passed and the meat was ready. Luffy devoured it as soon as it was ready.

''Even if it was not a big amount, it still filled my stomach'' Luffy said while rubbing his belly

He got up after some time and headed outside of the cave. He looked up to see the moon.

''I will train hard because I want to get out of this place and adventure into the outside world. I can see this is not a normal place, even a rabbit was this strong. What will a bear or a tiger be like, I can't imagine? Still, I will train hard and defeat every beast that gets in my way of becoming THE KING OF PIRATES'' Luffy said to the moon and as if the moon heard him it shined lighter

He got back inside the cave and made a simple bed out of leaves. He fell asleep very fast, it was a tiring day for him.

The next day, he woke up when the sun was still rising. But there was a surprise waiting for him outside.

Luffy woke up the next morning and yawned

''Yesterday was a long day, I hope today is peaceful'' said Luffy while walking out of the cave

When the sun hit his face, he squinted his eyes. When he got used to the sunlight he looked straight ahead and saw something. Because of the thing, he started sweating bullets, and his whole back was wet. In front of him lay a lion, even by standing close to it he felt the pressure of the being.

As Luffy tried to escape the lion opened its eyes and looked directly at Luffy

Luffy knew he was screwed so he started running as fast as he can but to no avail. The lion stood up and with only one jump, it landed in front of Luffy. Luffy halted his steps and looked terrified.

The lion looked at the puny creature in front of him and just swiped his claw at Luffy. Luffy hit a tree at light speed and because of that, he was left bloodied and unconscious. The lion thought that the weak creature was dead so it left.

Even tho Luffy was unconscious he wasn't dead.

After 5 hours Luffy woke up and stood up weakly, the cave he stayed in was close so with all his strength, he got in and just fell on the bed that was made out of leaves.

The next day Luffy woke up with a fuzzy mind, he had to wait for it to go away and remember what happened yesterday.

After some time he finally had a clear mind and remembered what happened yesterday. He knew he should be more careful because there could be danger everywhere he goes. He knew something was strange with this forest because when his gramps threw him in constant danger, he fought with a lion and was nowhere near the strength of this lion.

As he was thinking his stomach growled loudly. Luffy wasn't surprised, because he knew he hasn't eaten anything in a whole day.

Luffy got up from the bed and went out, as he was walking out something felt odd. He reached for his head to take off his hat but felt only his hair. The straw hat that Shanks gave him was missing and before he could reach the end of the cave, he dropped to his knees. That hat was very precious to Shanks and Luffy promised him that when he became strong and beat him in a fight, Luffy had to give his hat back to him. But he got it lost.

He had to find it, except to find a way out of here. He must get the hat back. He cannot go on an adventure without it.

But before any of that, he had to find some food.

''Where could there be a weak creature or something I could eat" Luffy asked himself

''Let's just look around, but I have to be careful'' Luffy said with a little amount of fear, he didn't want to repeat his mistake again

Luffy started looking around, he finally found something after 15 minutes

Luffy was looking at another white rabbit, he thought with a sneak attack he could get it easily.

Luffy in a flash got out of the bush and attacked the rabbit, the creature wasn't fast enough and Luffy was able to strike it right in the body. It let out a pained shriek and died.

Luffy learned his lesson, quickly got the rabbit, and headed back to the cave.

When he arrived back he cooked the rabbit and ate it.

''I need to be strong enough to defeat stronger animals and to become strong I need to train'' Luffy said

''I will train very hard, find Shanks' hat and get out of this place'' announced Luffy

*Time skip*

After 5 years he is 12 years old. He is 60 inches tall and has a slim build, because of his devil fruit. His hair has grown to his shoulders and his eyes are fierce.

''What has it been, 4..5 years, I don't know, but I sure have grown'' said Luffy with a deeper voice not his usual childish voice

He was munching on some meat, it looked like the leg of a bigger creature than a rabbit

''I have explored this whole forest'' said Luffy

''Found Shanks' hat, 2 years ago'' said Luffy remembering what happened when he found it

*Flashback*

Luffy was jumping from tree to tree but stopped because of a huge boulder, he thought that he could get a better view from up there so he climbed the boulder only to find a yellow monkey with a straw hat sitting on top of it.

He recognized the hat.

'Shanks' hat' thought Luffy

'I must get it' but Luffy knew the monkeys in the forest were powerful so he had to think of a strategy

After some thinking Luffy jumped at the monkey and stretched his hands, making a net to capture the monkey. The monkey noticed Luffy, but was unable to avoid the net fast enough and got caught in the net. It tried to get away and was able to, but the hat fell off it, it didn't care about the hat, it only wanted to save its life.

Luffy didn't care about the monkey, he quickly rushed to the hat and caught it while it was still in midair. He looked at it for a second and put it on his head without thinking any further.

'It sure feels familiar' Luffy reminisced

''One goal accomplished, two more to go. HELL YEA'' yelled out Luffy

*End of the Flashback*

''Or when I met the lion a second time'' said Luffy

*Another Flashback*

Luffy was searching for food until he spotted something. A lion, when he got a closer look it was the same lion from before. Luffy's blood was boiling, since his utter defeat caused by this lion, he couldn't get it out of his mind and was always careful. Today he will prove himself by defeating the lion he lost to years ago.

The lion was devouring an animal when suddenly in a flash something hit him. The lion turned around to see the weak creature that it thought it killed. The lion still thought Luffy was weak and underestimated him, but little did the lion know his death was near.

With the rage burning in Luffy's eyes he threw a Gomu Gomu no Gatling at the lion and bombarded it with punches. When Luffy stopped the lion's body was on the ground bloodied just as his body was when the lion swiped his claws at him.

''Hmph take that you puny creature'' Luffy said with some arrogance

*End of Flashback*

''It was great'' Luffy finished the meat he was eating and stood up from his sitting position.
