Chapter 13 Magic

Days passed, then weeks, and then months. During this time Bob consolidated his knowledge on his new abilities. While Aegis was pretty straightforward Celestial Eye and Indomitable had many different facets to the point were it took Bob quite a while to understand them in totality, despite his Peerless talent.

Because of this Bob was sure that the abilities were truly the real deal. He had eventually summarised the abilities into a few key points.

Celestial Eye directly enhanced his power, could allow him to trap people in illusions and granted him illusion immunity. Celestial Eye could also allow him to see to the nanosecond what was occurring while also allowing him to see at an atomic level.

But Celestial Eye's powers didn't end there. It also allowed him to see any and all weaknesses, which he could then exploit, or perhaps help one solve if lets say he was mentoring someone. That wasn't what surprised Bob the most, rather the range at which Bob could "see". The ability in this sense functioned similar to a cultivator's divine sense allowing Bob to "see" everything within a literal galactic cluster's area.

Unfortunately Bob's brain would actually overload with that much information being inputted, so he had to reduce the range significantly whenever Celestial Eye was in use. Lastly Celestial Eye could also use the power of stars, meaning it could emit beams of radiation like laser vision and even had an odd blue form of amaterasu which Bob found quite appealing to the eye.

Indomitable on the other hand made Celestial Eye look like child's play. To say it could do everything wouldn't be an overstatement, to the point where Bob decided that he'd never use the ability unless he was forced to. It was practically his get out of jail free card for any situation.

Naturally Bob didn't just utilise all his time on learning his new abilities. He began to research Elemental powers, and soon came up with a few broad types. There were Elements which he called common, such as Fire, Wind, Earth, Wood, Metal, and Water. Then there were Elements he classified as rare such as Lightning, Ice, Magma, Poison, Light and Darkness. Lastly what he classified as "beyonds" which were namely Time, Space, Life, Death, and Origin. The others were pretty self explanatory but from what Bob could tell Origin was perfect fusion of all the common elements making a whole that was greater than the sum of its parts.

Bob then spent a year, yes an entire year, exploring the different branches that each element provided. Some elements intersected in some areas, such as Death and Darkness, Death utilised the Darkness within being to bring the dead back to life, Death was essentially necromancy.

Life on the other hand was more akin to how wood functioned, just on a more general level. It could literally give life to objects, and it could enhance or empower life that already existed, but it could not replicate life. As in if one were to die life magic wasn't able to bring one back from the dead, it could insert another life into a being but it wouldn't be the same being.

Naturally Bob was confused by this principle. At first he thought it could be that he was simply too weak, and that he should work on his stats before doing further research, but then he realised something. Life was in a sense, akin to Soul and Vitality Magic. Because of this it could create life by giving it a soul, and cause lets say a 10 meter tall tree, to become a 10 kilometer tall tree, but if one's soul has already gone to the world beyond then one couldn't be revived.

Because of this Bob then spent a month devising a new magic, one he called "Revive", which was all things considered a pretty unimaginative name. It used the principle that every soul left a mark within the being it resided, utilising this mark along with Life and Space magic the previous soul of a being would be transported back into the body effectively reviving them.

Bob was quite pleased with this creation, and with that wrapped up his research into Elemental powers, but naturally this wasn't the end to Bob's research, as Elemental powers didn't hold all of magic within them.

He then began to research Demonic, Summoning, and Abstract magics. Demonic and Summoning were pretty self explanatory. Abstract magic though dealt with emotions, and could be used to empower people or put them into illusions. This magic was quite intriguing to Bob which meant he researched quite thoroughly. 'This could be useful if someone isn't feeling very motivated.' Bob mused as he researched the magic.

In a sense Abstract magic could be considered a tool of manipulation, but that was none of Bob's concern. Naturally magics wouldn't work on those who had corresponding resistances or were simply much stronger than the caster, otherwise they'd be too strong.

Within 3 years Bob had finished his research into all magics, to the point where he considered himself a bit of a Sage. Unfortunately his hard work didn't end there, next Bob had to undergo the dreaded cultivation.
