Hermione pt.1

August 19, two days after they arrived in the Leaky Cauldron. Both Miles and Bill were enjoying a good breakfast at the pub downstairs.

"Aren't you going to meet your family?" Miles asked as he took a huge bite out of his sandwich.

"Not really." Bill said, gulping a mouthful of steak with the help of his soup, "My brother, Ron is going to Hogwarts this year as well and I don't think he wouldn't really want me to be there as he is now finally getting in Hogwarts and I don't want to ruin my mood as well."

"Why not?"

"Ron, he is kind of an attention seeker." Bill said, "You know how our family's situation is like, I heard that he received my brother Charlie's old wand after he graduated and he is now even more upset because he couldn't buy a new one for himself. So if I go there he might lose his mind."

"Isn't it normal to be upset at that though?" Miles asked a little confused, "I mean I would be upset if my mom gave me her old wand and bought a new one for herself."

"I guess so but he tends to make a scene about it and he isn't the brightest of them all so mom and dad, don't really have many chances to gift him something except for Christmas." Bill said, "Therefore I'd rather not go home for now. My flight is on the same day as you leave so, I'll just leave without anyone even knowing I was here."

"Good plan, but you could just buy him a wand, can't you?" Miles said not really knowing what the big deal was, "It's not like you don't make money these days."

Bill stayed silent thinking about it but just then an owl came flying by as it dropped a letter towards their table. Miles barely managed to catch it before it fell into the soup. The letter was addressed to him, so he opened it to find a letter and another envelope within.

"A letter in another letter, that's new," Bill said looking over.

Miles opened the first letter first which read,

Dear Miles,

I hope you reached your destination safely.

I have finally managed to get you in Hogwarts though that old bastard made it seem like he was doing me a favour, he accepted my proposal, to accept you in Hogwarts. Since you didn't send a letter before July and all. The acceptance letter should be coming in with this one.

Anyway, there isn't much to say but I did forget to mention one thing beforehand, STAY AWAY FROM THE CENTAURS!!

I forgot to mention the bloody creatures as I had erased them from my memories but with all the runes I am managing, it turns out it was created by an old colony of centaurs that lived there before. Those annoying bastards can't even use magic properly, but still managed to create this hell hole of runes. Anyway, just stay away from them even if you do think about entering the forbidden forest.

I am still busy and with how things are going lately. I might not be able to send letters for a while. So take care of yourself and eat properly. I don't want to go through the whole crazy protective-mother phase, I mean I don't even have a husband yet. You wouldn't want to see me like that now, will you? So at least for my sake stay safe.

Love,

Patricia Rakepick.

Miles gulped as he put down his letter. Though Patricia never told why Miles knew she didn't like the sight of centaurs because of something that happened during her school days. As for the other half of the letter wasn't something he wanted to talk about as Patricia would use her not getting married as an excuse to guilt trip Miles into doing things which were mostly for his own good.

Though he didn't care if she gets married or not, Miles knew there weren't a lot of people that could handle her craziness and it will take another crazy to marry her. So his chances of getting a dad in this life were super low as far as he was concerned.

Miles looked at the other the yellowish envelope, addressed in emerald green to Mr M. Rakepick, Leaky Cauldron.

He pulled out the letter and read:

HOGWARTS SCHOOL of WITCHCRAFT and WIZARDRY

Headmaster: ALBUS DUMBLEDORE

(Order of Merlin, First Class, Grand Sorc., Chf. Warlock, Supreme Mugwump, International Confed. of Wizards)

Dear Mr. Rakepick,

We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment.

Term begins on September 1.

Yours sincerely,

Albus Dumbledore,

Headmaster.

"An invitation letter from Dumbledore himself, now that's rare." Bill said, "We should get going, let's go buy your books and robes."

"What's the hurry?" Miles asked going back to his food showing his sharp canine teeth.

"I thought about what you said, and I think you're right." Bill said, "Since I just started earning, I should at least help Ronnikins out, maybe he wouldn't grow up into a git if I showed him that I care atleast."

"Tha's goo' an' all but le' me finis' my foo' at leas'" Miles said as he munched on his remaining bit of sandwich and with a deep swallow he continued, "But don't we need your brother here for that."

"I think we can manage." Bill said, "We all have the same blood so picking a suitable wand shouldn't be much of a bother."

"If you say so," Miles said emptying a glass of milk next to him, "But I need to take some money out of Gringotts for the shopping as well."

"Let's do that then."

The two of them got out of the pub, as they were walking down the stairs wizards and witches turned their heads around to look at them. Bill though a redhead was by no means ugly, especially with all the training he had received his tall muscular figure was enough to attract any witch if he tried a bit. The same went for Miles who with his snow-white hair and golden eyes along with his sharp canine teeth that showed when he laughed was enough to make the witches explode with cuteness.

"We'll be late if you don't hurry." A bushy haired girl said in a bossy tone to her parents who were following her.

"Calm down Hermione." Her mother said with a smile on her face, "Dan and I can manage even if we are a little late."

The girl named Hermione nodded as she took out her wand and tapped three times on the wall in front of her.

The brick she had touched quivered -- it wriggled -- in the middle, a small hole appeared -- it grew wider and wider -- a second later they were facing an archway large enough even for a giant, an archway onto a cobbled street that twisted and turned out of sight.

"I still get amazed every time I see this." Dan said, "Emma, looks like our daughter is going to be a really powerful witch."

"It's just basic thing, dad." Hermione said shaking her head, "I need to get some books so let's move."

"Sigh! Do you really need so many books?" Dan said, "I mean, you haven't even started school yet."

"I still want to know about our school before I leave." Hermione said, "Since I don't want to fall behind my peers who were born into a wizarding family."

Saying that she rushed out towards the stairs as she looked back at her parents when she suddenly lost her footing.

A/N: Forget about pairing the MC help find his Mom a mate lol.

Also, Hermione's parents are named Dan and Emma, since most of the fictions I read had them as well, (They don't have names in their books.)
