Classes.

Harry stiffened at the remark as he really didn't really know answers to any of the questions Snape just asked Miles. Though the other party seemed unaffected with Snape's remarks, he himself didn't know how he would fair if he was in that situation himself. Deep inside he had a feeling that, if he wasn't in Slytherin he would probably be Snape's victim right now.

Things didn't improve for the Gryffindors as the Potions lesson continued. Snape put them all into pairs and set them to mixing up a simple potion to cure boils, though he couldn't separate Daphne and Rakepick as they were the only odd one out. He swept around in his long black cloak, watching them weigh dried nettles and crush snake fangs, criticizing almost everyone except Malfoy, whom he seemed to like. Other than that, he ignored all of Harry's work, though if he made a mistake Snape would be the first one to point that out, luckily he wouldn't deduct a point from his own house. Harry for the first time felt lucky to be seated next to someone like Draco as he didn't face as much criticism as the Gryffindors.

As for Miles and Daphne, he swatted around them like a fly but both of them were too good, so even Snape couldn't find any fault with it. Suddenly out of nowhere, clouds of acid green smoke and a loud hissing filled the dungeon. Neville had somehow managed to melt Seamus's cauldron into a twisted blob, and their potion was seeping across the stone floor, burning holes in people's shoes. Within seconds, the whole class was standing on their stools while Neville, who had been drenched in the potion when the cauldron collapsed, moaned in pain as angry red boils sprang up all over his arms and legs.

Miles felt bad for Neville but he didn't plan to interfere with it, as far as he knew, making mistakes were the best way to learn, so he just hoped Neville wouldn't fall back due to this minor setback. Miles watched as Seamus took Neville to the hospital and Snape looking around for who to blame. His first thought was obviously Miles but Miles was probably the furthest away from Neville, so he looked around at the other Gryffindors to decrease points from.

As they climbed the steps out of the dungeon an hour later, Gryffindors were already exhausted. Miles had lost them 15 points in the very first class and 3 extra from other students mistakes.

"You should really control that lips of yours, Rakepick!" A boy who Miles remembered to be Dean Thomas said as they reached the end of the stairs.

All the Gryffindors and Slytherins stopped and looked at the two. Though some wanted to say something, the way Miles was mixing in with Slytherin, it wasn't a really good place for them to defend Miles and they were still upset about the lost house point.

"Did you say something?" Miles said in a mocking tone as he walked around Dean.

"You heard me." Dean growled, "Keep your mouth shut! Your unnecessary jokes are costing us house points. It hasn't even been a single period and we've lost 15 because of you."

"I'll make us lose a 100 in the next class, what does that have to do with you?" Miles said casually, "Also, I don't know what you've heard but just know I don't give two shits about these stupid house points."

"You..."

"Since you're such a grown big boy why don't you tell Snape to not cut points from me even when I've answered them correctly." Miles said, "If not, don't bring your stinky mouth around telling me what to do. The same goes for all of you. If you are unsatisfied with me bringing down the points make sure to tell Snape to act like a proper teacher first, if not you can all piss off along with this guy."

The Slytherins snickered among themselves looking back at the silent Gryffindors as Miles went along with them.

"Weren't you a bit too harsh?" Harry said on the way out. Though the conversation happened much calmly on Miles side as the other person didn't even raise an eyebrow nor did he raised his voice. It felt too harsh, considering both of them are from the same house.

"I just wanted to make things clear from the beginning so they won't bother me every time, Snape decides to cut my points." Miles said, "I don't even get the obsession with house points, other than the flags around being changed, there are no other benefits to who wins the house cup whatsoever but all these people want to act as if it is the most important thing around."

Harry and the other agreed with it since as far as they've heard from their seniors, they put a lot of emphasis on winning the house cup which carries no use, other than a minute of glory at the end of the year.

"But why is Professor Snape so focused on decreasing your points?" Draco asked, "I can help with it if you want."

"No need." Miles shook his head, "It's not like I didn't predict it. Last time, my mother taught here they had a lot of rivalry going on between the two, so I was already prepared for Snape being unfair to me."

The others nodded, while Harry wondered if Snape treated him like so due to something that happened with his parent's as well. As he couldn't really find other reasons for Snape to hate him for no reason at all.

"So what are we going to do next?" Blaise asked.

Miles looked at the time as he shook his head, "I have classes with Ravenclaw for the rest of the day. I have one fifteen minutes later so I'll catch up with you guys later."

The next class Miles had was History of Magic, though not really good at it he knew he could pass the class with ease. He reached the classroom to find that the Gryffindors and Ravenclaw had already arrived. The Gryffindors were in a not so good mood as they stared at Miles as he entered the classroom. And though there weren't many empty seats he found one next to a bushy haired witch who was reading her books.

Jumping through the desk he coolly sat next to the girl making her jump a little.

"What are you doing Miles?" Hermione asked as she looked back still a bit mad for disturbing her.

"Didn't mean to frighten you." Miles said, "I just didn't have anywhere else to sit."

Hermione looked around and nodded, "I heard you picked fights with your house-mates, what's that all about?"

"Rumors do fly quick, huh." Miles said shrugging, "It's nothing serious, other than some kids trying to blame me for actions I have no control of. Anyway forget about that, What have you been up to? I didn't see you at breakfast."

"It-Its nothing." Hermione looked awkward at first as she quickly shook her head, "I was just lost reading all the books they had in the common room. I mean, some of them you couldn't even buy even if you wanted to..."

Hermione went on and on about books until the Professor appeared in the classroom.
