52 The Rift (Chapter 52) (Part 3)

Daniel continued to look at Virgo's stats, speechless.

'Holy crap… her Strength, Vitality, and Stamina Stats are so close to mine!'

'Her Mana is so shit though. Hmmm I guess that's the reason why Celestial Wizard's have to switch out their Celestial Spirits during a battle. I'll think of a way on how to help her improve on that later.'|1|

After getting rid of the thought, he looked at Virgo and saw her looking a bit dazed at herself and at a similar floating panel as him in front of her.

'Woah, she also is able see her stats?'

[Yes, only that, however.]

'Interesting.'

"So, how do you feel Virgo?"

"I… feel as if I have lost my connection to the Celestial Spirit World. Also, what is this strange floating paper of light in front of me?"

"That's called your Stats Panel. It displays your strengths and weaknesses, and you can also track your improvement through it as well."

"Oh… "

She simply responded, as she curiously stared at the floating screen in front of her, she then attempted to touch it, however her hand simply went through it.

"If you were to close the Panel just think of it vanishing, or something similar.", Daniel said, in addition, he also explained how to open it again, in case she wishes to check her stats once more.

He found her amazed expression adorable.

"Okay, now that that's out of the way. Virgo, I am going to have to Unsummon you back, since this place seems to be radiating with dangerous Spatial Elements, and you could quite possibly suffocate from the pressure.", he said a bit guiltily. Although Virgo was now freed from the Celestial Spirit World, and could roam freely, she also couldn't return to her Celestial Spirit friends that she had in that other 'universe'.

'U.F will she be all alone whenever I Unsummon her?'

[ No, Host does not need to worry about your contracted [Familiars] being alone in some dark space. Instead, they will be asleep, or better yet, in stasis, until summoned again. Basically, it will be instantaneous when they are Summoned and Unsummoned, they will feel as if they have teleported whenever/wherever Summoned.] |2|

'As long as she doesn't feel lonely.'

"Very well, Master Conbolt. I will be ready for whenever you need me.", she said as she bowed once more.

"Un, don't worry, it'll be sooner than you think.", he smiled.

Afterwards, Virgo was slowly engulfed in a gentle glowing light, that then shrank into a small orb. The orb then floated to Daniel, and slowly sank into his chest.

Daniel patted his chest, curious as to where the orb went. 'Wow that's a weird feeling.'

He then proceed to focus once more on the [Pop-up Quest], and looked around to see if there were any signs of abnormality from this 'hole' that the System spoke of earlier.

'Damn, this cave just looks like any other cave, rocks and stalagmites and stalactites everywhere, and dull grey walls... If I didn't have the ability to sense the Spatial Elements in the air, I would've never thought that this was where a portal to another universe would be.'

[ I suggest the Host use his Affinity with Spatial Elements to detect where the Irregularity is. ]

'Good idea, thanks U.F.'

Daniel closed his eyes and tried to focus once more on the Spatial Elements in the air and focused on where it was stronger.

['Ding!']

[Congratulations! You've gained a new Skill! ]

[ (Passive Skill) - Void Sense I : The ability to sense Void Particles in the air. ]

As soon as the notification of the new skill rang out, Daniel felt his ability in sensing the Spatial Elements in the air improve. In fact, in his mind he could 'see' tiny, bright purplish particles in the air. They were everywhere, countless of them. However, he could see one area in particular in which the particles seemed to be the most clustered.

'Wait, so I can only sense Spatial Elements more easily?'

[Yes.]

'That… sigh… although it is not the like the Divine Sense I read about in Novels, at least it will be very useful when it comes to using my Void Dragon Slayer abilities more efficiently.'

He cringed when he remembered how he was trying previously to get a Sensing Skill by just walking around blindly.

He shook his head, getting rid of the unnecessary thoughts, and once more focused on the task in hand. He followed the path in which there were more of these 'Void Particles' and maintained alert in case any of those worm like beasts were to show up.

As he continued forward, the amount of Void Particles in the air got thicker and even Daniel himself was starting to have trouble breathing. However, he gritted his teeth and continued forward, breathing heavily, his legs feeling heavy from the distorted gravity.

[ Host is approaching the Abnormality ]

After walking for approximately minutes. Daniel starts noticing huge burrows, the size of the giant desert worms he has seen in his trip with Oros.

'Phew.. finally nearing the source… '

ROOOOOAAAARR

Suddenly, the cave began to tremble. Daniel quickly pulled out his sword and got into defensive position. He could hear the excavating noises all around him.

Suddenly, a giant gaping maw full of razor sharp teeth exploded out of the wall next to Daniel. He quickly dodged out of the way. Gripping tightly to the Sakabatō Kageuchi,|3| he swung the sword, leaving behind a big nasty gash in the creature's long body.

SCREEEAACHH!!

All of a sudden, Daniel could feel an icy, cold feeling all over his body, as if death were just a hair's breadth away. |4|

Daniel crouched, he then jumped forward, black-bluish flames blasted from under his shoes, instantly propelling him forward even more further and faster.

BOOOM!

Daniel crashed against a wall that was furthest from where he was previously at.

Now, in his previous position, giant long bodies of the many creatures could be seen burrowing into the walls, almost as if they were traps originally laid there since the beginning.

Daniel slowly climbed out of the wall, panting heavily, as he stared at the creatures with a mixture of both anger and terror.

"Damn! These sly bastards! That little shit that I cut with my sword must've alerted the others into swarming me in these narrow tunnels. If I would've been just a second late I would been ripped apart!", he thought to himself, terrified.

Amusingly, at that moment of near death experience Daniel managed to 'create' and add a new Dragon Slayer Art to his arsenal, which he actually imitated from the Ifrits.

He then waited a couple seconds more to catch his breath, quickly, he scampered away from the scene as he could feel that of he were to stick around there for long he would once again be attacked by the worm-like creatures.

Daniel closed his eyes, and 'sensed' the Void Particles in the air. Once more, Daniel was following the trail of highest concentration of 'Void Particles'.

[ Warning! Host has entered an Unstable Spatial Field! Caution is advised! ]

Finally, Daniel could see, and 'feel' light coming from the end of the cavern. The light was beautiful and enchanting, it was as if an aurora borealis was inside the cave, shining upon the dark walls of the cave. However, Daniel could strangely feel an extreme dangerous feeling from these lights. Almost as if these lights weren't just beautiful and harmless auroras, but instead the gaping maws of the abyss, ready to shred anyone who got near to them.

And even further ahead, he could see the most beautiful and dazzling light show he's ever seen. A gigantic disc spinning slowly, with bright and dangerous auroras dancing around it, could be seen in the center of a huge cave. |5|

['Ding!']

[Congratulations on completing your first {Pop-Up Quest}!]

[Rewards :

"Well shit…."

- - - - -

|1| : Basically the Celestial Spirits tend to lose a lot of Mana quickly so they have to leave the battle in between. Makes sense, right? In the canon it happens like that with Lucy and other Celestial Wizards, ever noticed?

|2| : Lol I tried my best to explain through the System, but I will explain once more here; Whenever a Familiar is summoned they would appear in front of Daniel, however without recollection of being in some other 'space'. As if they entered stasis.

|3| : The [Grade D] Sword he got from the Beginner packet (I think... XD ). It's from a reeeaally old anime called Rurouni Kenshin.

|4| : Not gonna lie... I felt too lazy to come up with something better...

|5| : Okay well shit... this was hard, not gonna lie. Ever been inside a giant cave? It's like never ending, long and endless tunnels that connect with even more caves underground. This basically what I wanted to show in this chapter. No idea if I did this correctly, hopefully the images were delivered correctly? Lol
