50 The Rift (Chapter 50) (Part-1)

. . .

"Mr. Conbolt may I ask why you are so interested in this mystery?"

Oros asked staring at Daniel curiously.

"Well, I think that the answers behind these mystery's may help me gain strength to face a future calamity."

Daniel answered back indifferently.

"E-eh?"

Daniel a bit annoyed said, "You don't need to worry about it, all I need is for you to take me there."

"Tsk, very well."

Oros a bit angry with Daniel's response, sped up his walking towards what seemed like 'small' dilapidated building, battered from the harsh sandy, dry winds.

'Hmm, they probably built this themselves.'

Daniel thought to himself as he stared at the sad, huge building.

"Welcome to our small base."

Oros said as he opened the doors.

"Wow, this place looks very bad."

Daniel said, looking around with pity.

"Hahaha yeah, thankfully we don't usually stay here for long."

Oros said scratching his head.

He looked at Oros puzzledly, "Oh, how so?"

"Well, we do rotations with the other Guardians. I am only going to be here for 2 weeks, then another Guardian would take up the post."

"Hehe, well If I am able to confirm my suspicions behind these creatures and the mysterious fruit, then you won't need to guard this place for much longer."

Daniel said confidently.

Oros raised a brow and asked suspiciously, "Oh? You already have some idea of what is behind these mysteries?"

"Yes, but I still need some confirmation.", he answered indifferently.

<Oros : 'Humph, how arrogant! He has not even met these troublesome creatures, yet he still says he knows the reason as to why they are here! Sigh, I don't know what Captain Tor is thinking sending this human youngster here, but I'll have to accompany him myself so that he doesn't get eaten by one of those creatures.'>

"Yawn~ Now then is there a room I could borrow just for the today? The journey was a bit tiring."

Daniel asked.

"Yes, however it may be a bit uncomfortable for you, since our rooms are Giant sized, not for humans."

"Don't worry about it, just show me the way."

"Very well."

Oros grunted.

The next day, Daniel woke up early on what seemed to be an inflatable bed.

'The ability to shop for anything is truly amazing! I can even buy miscellaneous items such as this inflatable bed.'

Since the bed that the room has is giant sized, Daniel decided to buy a bed, to place on top of the bed. He chuckled at the the irony. |1|

"U.F show me the time I have left for the [Pop-up Quest]."

[Time Remaining :〔5-Hours〕〔49-Minutes〕 ]

"Okay! Lets get this done quickly then!"

Daniel then went to go look for Oros. Once he found him, he asked him to give him one of his men to guide him towards where the fruit was found by Amber.

"It is more north, almost nearing the mountains, however, Sir Conbolt, I will be accompany you on this perilous quest. The creatures that spawn near that area are dangerous, and although you human wizards are strong in your own way, these creatures will most likely not feel a single scratch from your magic." Oros said, with a hint of disdain at the end of his sentence.

"Are you sure you want to leave the post? What if something were to happen while you are out?"

Daniel asked indifferently.

"No worries. My men are more than capable of driving back a monster or two. Plus, the beasts don't usually roam close around this area. We are here to prevent the creatures from coming close to the village, not to exterminate them, as that would be an impossible task."

Daniel nodded in response, "Mmm very well then. I don't mind the company."

<Tor :'Tsk, This arrogant brat thinks that I am going to come with him just to accompany him?! He thinks too highly of himself, I am merely going to protect him, since I don't want to get in trouble with Captain Tor…'>

Oros led Daniel for two hours deeper into the desert, on the way there Daniel saw the mysterious creatures which Tor spoke about. They were huge worm like creatures, bigger than Tor, who is by far the tallest giant Daniel has met. Their gaping maws were filled with sharp razor teeth that could looked as if they could munch and quite possible even 'drill' through anything. They had sharp, sandy colored scales that matched with the desert, helping them blend with the sand. Because of this, Oros and Daniel would accidently run into one occasionally. Daniel wanted to fight them, however all the time Oros would pick up Daniel and run for dear life.

Daniel decided to fight these creatures later on, when he is alone. First, because he could tell that these creatures do seem tough. Perhaps it would take him a while to kill even one, and right now he is on a time constraint because of his [Pop-up Quest], and secondly, because he doesn't want to share the Exp gained from killing the creatures. If he were to attack them right now. Oros would most likely join in, either because of his responsibility in taking care if him because of Tor, or because he wants to show the might of a giant, and act arrogant about it.

After a few more run ins with the scary looking desert worms, they finally reach what seemed like a giant crater. Daniel found the crater incredibly strange, as the ground was not sand but soil, however it was barren and dry. Only a few weeds and grasses were popping up here and there.

"Interesting…"

Daniel muttered.

"Interesting? Pfff what's so interesting about a dry patch of dirt?"

Oros said as he kicked the dirt.

"I mean yeah, it is just dirt, however why is there dirt here, and how is it possible that this crater has not been filled with sand? That's why I say it is quite interesting."

Daniel said as he continued to study the dirt and small patches of grass.

"Hm?!"

Daniel suddenly stood up with widened eyes.

'I sense strong spatial elements around here!'

Daniel slowly inhaled deeply the elements. He could feel stronger and full to the brim with spatial elements. He felt as if he could practice his Void Dragon Arts continuously and not get tired. A small tug kept pulling him towards the center of the crater. As he got closer to the center a small breeze could be felt caressing his exposed skin, however different than the scorching wind in the desert, this breeze felt more like a cool gust of air by the beach.

Noticing Daniel's peculiar behavior, Oros followed him, and also experienced the strange breeze.

"Oros, dig here!"

Daniel said with excitedly, pointing at the spot that was the center of the crater.

"Eh? Why?"

Daniel continued to stare at the spot with eagerness,"Because I think this may be both the source of your problems, and perhaps, the solution to one of mine.", finished the last part of the sentence in a small mutter.

"Humph, you better be correct!"

Oros squatted and got to digging with his giant hands.

The digging continued for half an hour, and Daniel started getting impatient. He bought a shovel with a large shovel blade and started helping Oros out. Finally, after almost an hour of shoveling away dirt, they found something strange.

They discovered a strange cave, however, what was strange about it was that the cave was in fact right underneath Daniel and Oros! Once both discovered this they were both sweating not because of the digging they did, but because they realized the deepness of the cave and how they were standing on only tightly packed dirt, that was perhaps barely holding them up!

'Holy shit… what if because of Oros weight we would've fallen in such a deep cave… I don't think even I could've survived that, if I didn't have my [Galaxy Wings] hehe.'

"Phew… okay, I will be going down. Oros, you might wanna wait for me at the edge of the crater, maybe even outside." He said pointing at the edge of the crater.

Oros nervously stared at the hole that seemed to lead to endless darkness,"Gulp… y-yeah I'll wait for you over there." Oros then started to head towards the edge of the crater, almost tip toeing, trying hard not to weigh so much on the dirt underneath him.

"Alright then! Here I go…"

Daniel then fell into the hole.
