47 The Cosmic Laws (Chapter 46)

Daniel at first thought that Hertha's home would be somewhere near her canteen, however that did not seem to be the case. They walked for two hours until they finally reached a 'small'|1| cottage in the big forest that was located in the south.

During the time they walked, Amber was very lively as she continuously asked questions to Daniel related to Magic. He tried answering to the best of his abilities her questions, however, he soon began to sweat as he began having difficulties answering some of her inquiries. He realized that although he was incredibly strong, his foundation in the understanding of Magic was weak, as the way he received his Magic was through the System.

'Once I get back to the Guild I should head to the library and study a bit more. Who knows, maybe I could even find new ways to use my [Dragon Slayer Magic].'

"Welcome to my humble abode!"

The old giantess said smiling.

"I was expecting...more?"

Daniel stared at the cottage suspiciously.

Amber noticed Daniel's suspicion and giggled.

He noticed, but he decided to just shrug it off and followed Hertha to the front door. Once Hertha opened the door Daniel was left agaped in shock as he stared at what seemed the inside of a HUGE mansion. Beautiful giant furnitures were everywhere and huge brilliant lacrimas hanged from the ceiling like chandeliers, glowing gently.

'What the f**k?! This old hag is f*cking loaded.'

Daniel walked in, staring around in wonder.

"You can go ahead and wait in the living room. Us ladies will go ahead and take a bath."

Hertha said with a faint smile.

"Y-yeah.Okay."

Daniel said as he continued to stare around.

'Damn… didn't know that making people get drunk could rake in a lot of money…'

After Hertha and Amber left, Daniel got bored of staring around the giant room and decided to listen to what the System wanted say earlier.

'U.F, let's continue the talk we were having earlier.'

[Very well. Where do you wish for me to start off, Host?]

'How about you explain to me what 'The Source' is?'

[The Source. My father was not always the Omnipresent being that he is today.]

'Pfff sounds like the introduction to the biography of a famous person.'

[I am unsure of what my father's past was. Perhaps he was a mortal? Or maybe some lucky cultivator in the myriad of Realms and Worlds.]

'Wait… a cultivator? Isn't my earth the original, or the starting point?'

[Where the f*ck do you think those protagonists go when they die?]

'But aren't they fiction?'

[Perhaps. Or perhaps not.]

'Don't give me that bullsh*t. You told me your father created those worlds from the stories that he read and watched?'

Although Daniel did not communicate oftenly with the System in the past 8 years, he did find out why the Worlds were created, when he heard that it was because this incredible, mighty 'God of Origin' was bored and loved to watch anime, read manga and novels, he laughed his off and mocked the god for being a total weeb and chunni, that day he was mysteriously locked away from using the system's features for an entire 7 months.

[Yes, however not all were created by my father. Some merely came into existence from 'The Source', others seem to have been there since the beginning!]

For the first time ever, Daniel could sense a bit of wonder and excitement in the System's 'voice'.

'Wow... '

Daniel imagined with fascination how these worlds could have come into existence from this mystical 'Source'.

'What exactly is this 'Source'...'

He asked with his eyes gleaming in wonderment.

[No idea.]

'Seriously? No clue?'

[No. Not even my father knew. However, my father somehow was able to tap into its energy and gained some small insights on it, and discovered what some of the energies did and how they complement one another.

Daniel was in awe, although this God of Origin sounded like a total weeb, he truly was worthy of respect.

'Wait… System… is this set of cultivation in the shop?'

[Of course. After all, the main reason why my father is doing all of this is because he wishes for a worthy opponent. Someone who is of equal, or if possible, stronger than him.]

When Daniel saw the cost of the the cultivation he was at first disappointed, but then he felt confused.

'U.F what do the question marks represent?'

[Items in the shop with {???} can only be unlocked through special means.]

'Oh? Well what kind of special means do I need to use in order to unlock the cultivation set of the God of Origin?'

[Once you have Upgraded me to the third level, there will be a feature which will put you through challenges that may cost you your life, and all of your family and friends lives. Destruction will rain down on you, no matter where you are, the World or Realm in which you are inhabiting is doomed to face chaos.]

Daniel suddenly shivered and paled at the thought of losing his family and friends.

'What kind of feature could cause such destruction… '

'What if I-'

[Even if you decide to not Upgrade me. My father may become impatient and activate the feature early on.]

"No….."

Daniel grabbed his head with his hands as he continued to shiver.

'I-I can't…'

He felt fear. Although Daniel has some confidence in facing off against individuals such as Four Gods of Ishgar, |2| but an event that could potentially, no that CAN destroy the world in which he lives in, is something completely different. Not only will he be facing something that could end him, but the people he cares about will be endangered too. Even innocents will be exposed to danger!

[Why are you so afraid?]

'Because… I don't think I could face that….'

[Why not?]

'Have you not noticed?! Lately I have not been able to easily level up like before! The dark wizards that I've slayed, before would give me a good amount of quest points are now giving me a meagre amounts, same thing with all the other enemies I've faced.'

[Yes. Indeed, as you grow stronger the amount of Quest Points you receive will no longer be the same as it once was, and your need for Quest Points might even grow to astronomical amounts, however, if not for these challenges how will you ever grow? Do you really believe everything will continue being easy?]

'Sigh… no you are right… it's just going to get tougher as my strength continues to soar. I should prepare myself for the battles ahead.'

[Indeed. Probably because I find making fun of you very amusing.]

Daniel 'said' back to the system with a faint smile.

"Ohoho… what are you here smiling like an idiot for?"

Hertha's voice said coming from behind Daniel.

Okay so for some strange reason I felt like making the protagonist a bit more humane. Who wouldn't freak out if they were to find out that their families, friends lives were in jeopardy, and that they were also going to be responsible for the lives of many innocents? Yes, he maybe shouldn't react that hard considering the fact that he was lived for 8 years in a world of magic and he has killed people before, however we are talking about the lives of probably millions (Or whatever the quantity is for when he faces that event, in whatever world or realm.)
