2 Nightmare: The Awakening

"He's coming around. Julie call the doctor!" Kate yells and stumbles on her feet as the boy on the hospital bed begins to move his fingers.

Julie ran out the ward and dashed straight to the nurses corner. Scott wasn't there, he was working and of course if he wasn't he'd still not show up as he had not showed up for the past four months Adrian had been in the hospital except from times where he'd honk from his car parked outside and call for Julie to collect snacks and ask some questions about the boy so as not to look heartless to his wife who was devastated.

He stepped into the room sometimes and tried not too look at the shaved haired kid in a coma but try and make Kate laugh.

Julie was truly devastated on the other hand which came as a big surprise to her father who saw the girl as a quarterback when it came down to ridiculing the boy. Scott took to it as a one first time experience his kid will have to see such a terrible accident happen to someone close to her.

Kate being in shock when the call first came in after hours of waiting for Adrian to come home and Scott yelling out about smacking the kid in the head for making Kate so worried looked pale by now staying the night in the hospital almost everyday for the past four months. Still even when the boy opened his eyes she still kept asking herself what had happened to him in those two weeks his body wasn't found after the incident and why a strange man will deliver him to the hospital two weeks after along with a synopsis of the boy's current condition and vanish before the police can collect a statement from him.

When Adrian was delivered to the hospital with his shaggy hair shaved to the bare ends of his skin and his head stitched, the press of the now famous town of Staton Pearls "where miracles happen" (which was what they were now calling it) made an headline out of the story of a boy who fell off Future park hills and still breathes. The story spread across the country, with no solid evidence of how the incident initially happened but only with a few witnesses who surprisingly all say the same thing of how they did not see what led to it.

The SPDP were working on the case vigorously until two months ago when all hopes seemed lost and they were forced to close the case. "The only way this case can move forward is if we find out what happened from the victim himself but until then, am sincerely sorry but we are going to temporarily call this a closed case" The officer in charge had told Kate.

"Doctor! Doctor, oh thank God. He's awake." Kate said as the doctor finally rushed in accompanied with a nurse and a sobbing Julie behind them.

The doctor examines the boy before smiling.

"Take vitals and check heart conditions." He said to the nurse.

He gestured to Kate to follow him out the ward and she did leaving Julie to stay with Adrian. The nurse did everything she was told to do and left the room.

By evening Adrian was still in and out but welcomed with warm smiles everytime he opened his eyes and could still feel himself breathing out of a oxygen tank passed through his nostrils. Even Scott was there faking a smile the next morning when he awoke again trying as much as he can to resist going out for a snack or something even though the ward was loaded with them but anything to get him away from that sight he saw of a once shapeful face of a boy he could no longer recognize now after series of surgery he was happy he wasnt made to pay for, but an unknown sympathizer was covering the boy's medical bill of which Scott was grateful and was happy the situation got publicized.

In a week Adrian was no longer spacing out and was taken off the oxygen supply so he could breathe on his own. He could not stand though but he could sit up on that uncomfortable hospital bed and he could see the way everyone looked at him differently, an even more appalling look he gave himself when he looked at the mirror.

"So how do you feel?" The doctor asked.

A beaming Kate on standby held the hands of a teen girl who was now feeling homesick but still also actively waiting for a recovered cousin who she would yell at when they are back at home.

"The Nightmares, they felt like dreams but they definitely had their own take on shrills from death scenarios and it was like I met with the agent of death in those nightmares and we had ling sessions." Adrian muttered out.

"What?" Kate recoiled. The doctor sighed.

"Doctor what's wrong with him?" she asked.

"Do you know who you are?" The doctor asked.

"Yes, Of Course. Am Adrian Evans. And this is aunt Kate. Where's my mom and dad?" he asked Kate with a puzzled face. "And who is she?" Adrian looked sharply at Julie.

Kate swallowed hard and Julie let go of her mom's hand. The doctor shook his head.

"Come with me Mrs Lang." The doctor said leaving the ward with Kate.

"You don't remember me?" Julie asked.

"Are you from school? I don't remember most people from school." Adrian said.

"No, am not. Never mind that, how did this happen to you?" Julie asked.

"What do you mean?" Adrian asked.

Julie pulled out a mirror from her mom's bag and handed it over to Adrian.

Adrian took it a stared at the stitches around his pink skull and minor stitches on his face which look like they were fading off. His face looked different, it had a straight jawline now but the top of his skull made everything look hideous and disfigure.

"What happened to my face?!" Adrian asked with a puzzled expression.
