2 Disturbance

As I move towards the door, I can hear more noises coming from the other side, while faint it was slightly disturbing. I place my back against the wall near the door and hit the release on the hatch. It did not move up smoothly, it kept moving up and down slowly once it hit halfway as if something was in the way blocking its path. Crouching down I peer into the darkness not noticing the dark red fluid that was now flowing into the room. It wasn't until I put my hand down to balance myself did I notice it, it was a dark red, almost black in color, looking at my hand I had to fight the impulse of doing a lick test to see if it was blood or not. I did not smell iron coming from the substance. As I was about to move out of the room the door slammed down closing my exit.

"I would have to advise not to do that number 13" said a voice on a radio that was set on a table, "I know you want to get your bearings but if you go out the way you are you will just be another wasted life. Now I know you have questions, and I don't mind answering them but we need to get you out of that room now. The other occupants of our vessel are aware of your presence thanks to the fluid you touch, while I am the leading scientist of this venture, I'm still unsure of how they are able to use the fluid from their compatriots to find new meals."

While the voice, which I had determined to be female, or a really sissy of a man, was talking to me I walked towards the desk and picked up the transmitter. Unsure of how my voice would sound after being frozen I just clip it to my belt.

"There should be a ventilation shaft near the center of the room, I will open it from my side, though I want you to know that once you go down there the only thing I can do is send you which path to go via the transmitter and wont be able to make verbal contact with you." Looking at the center of the room I see the panel open up, just as a large bang and howl came from the now locked door that lead out of this room. This was followed by screeching and the sound of nails on metal as whatever was outside was doing its best to get inside the room and feast. Taking one look at the door I quickly jump down the open shaft and watch as it closes slowly, hear the door being broken into and slamming into the adjacent wall. I move forward slowly in a crouched position and as I watch the grate I see the red fluid slowly oozing between the cracks. Readying my sidearm I push into the shaft as darkness consumes me.

Feeling satisfied Dr. Valencia Cortez watched as Subject 13 narrowly escaped being consumed by the freaks of nature that now wondered the space station. Her eyes flicking between the status of the other few thousand cyro sleepers and the last surviving member of the security detail. Smiling to herself she remembers that the Captain of the security detail told her that this individual is only allowed to be awoken under situations where the destruction of the Space Station was the only option, due to this Marines track record he was known for turning around impossible situations and coming out on top. Though this was something that no one could of predicted. A wonderful entity that changes the composition of its host depending on the hosts nature. Sadly one of her original test subjects escaped and had caused the massacre on the space station to happen killing those it was not compatible with and assimilating those it was. Sighing she looked back at her 'cargo'. All of these individuals were frozen before catastrophe struck Gaea, and shipped out to find a new planet to call home, which wasn't a success. All the planets that were meant to be used already had intelligent space faring lifeforms. Some hostile a few friendly, but none wanted to house humans who were viewed as being children to space.

Now if this Marine, known to her only as subject 13, could reach her she could test his blood to see if he was compatible with the entity in a positive way. For if he was then there would still be a chance to salvage the ship and save what little remained of humanity.
