Chapter 60: Outburst

"Where were you, mom?" Luka gave his mom a worried but still blank look.

I never thought I would be jealous of my soulmate's mom, Xavier thought bitterly but it was nice that Luka was at least talking since the five minutes that they waited for Julia had been spent with uncomfortable silence.

"Are you not leaving?" Luka glanced at Xavier and if Xavier wasn't making sure that he wouldn't make any sudden moves or give away a strong reaction, then he surely would've flinched.

Julia gave Xavier a sympathetic look. She knew how it felt like to be with someone that you loved so dearly but the person wouldn't be able to recognize you.

"He is a friend, Luka," Julia said to her son and her tone was only a little bit scolding as if talking to a child who had not said hello to an elder.

"Mhm." Luka only hummed in answer and looked outside again.
