Funny Face

"To all who have passed, congratulations, however, your journey only starts now, I'm pretty sure all of you have a good grasp on your systems already so I won't bother explaining" The secretary glanced at everyone making sure they were listening.

"As you already know, we have an elite school dedicated to teaching young men and women like you to better use your powers"

'Teaching my ass, I'm doing just fine without any teacher teaching me anything' Clay scoffed in his mind, knowing that the whole elite school talk was just a sham, it was meant to control and watch people who have enough power to be a threat to the kingdom itself.

"And since all of you were qualified for the elite school, naturally, we would compensate your families with the necessary resources for your future service to the kingdom after graduating"

This was another one of the schemes of the kingdom. They would 'compensate' the families of whoever got drafted into the school in order to keep their mouths shut and to encourage them to send their children to the school, and to also hire the graduates of the academy to become teachers of the academy or workers of other fields.

Clay knew he was walking into the trap, but he just couldn't let go of the support that his family would get after he joined the school. He didn't want his sister to grow up poor, he wanted her and his mother to have the best life, and for that, he was willing to become a puppet of the kingdom.

Sure he could just keep selling maps, but then what would happen when he's gone? No one would be there to give his family more money, as for now he is the only one in his family able to earn money stably except for his father.

"With that said, we would give you all a day to prepare or say your goodbye's before departing, be sure to be here at the same time tomorrow or we will leave you behind" The secretary said sternly.

"If you have any questions, now is the time to speak up" The woman looked at everyone present. Seeing that no one seems to want to speak up she continued.

"Alright, since there are no questions, this shall be it for the announcements, once again, do not forget to gather here before the same time tomorrow, otherwise we would leave you behind" The woman reminded again.

"You may now leave"

Hearing this, most of the teenagers stood there for a moment to register what she had just said before turning around and murmuring to themselves whilst heading for the exit.

"So, what happened back there?" Josh asked Clay curiously.

"Uhh, nothing" Clay replied, definitely not wanting to explain himself getting stuck on the ceiling.

"C'mon man, I heard an explosion back there, you gotta tell me what that was" Josh was not getting nothing for an answer.

"Well, it's kinda hard to explain, hmm, basically I jumped so strongly that it made that 'boom' sound" Clay tried answering Josh in a way that doesn't make him sound like he was lying, but to no avail.

Josh just stared at Clay with a deadpan face that was practically saying I don't believe it.

"Really?" Josh raised an eyebrow.

"Yes, really, I knew you wouldn't believe me" Clay sighed.

"It's not that I don't believe you, it's just that I don't believe you" Josh said something to Clay that sounded really confusing to his ears.

"What?" Clay couldn't understand what that meant.

"It's nothing, but are you sure that's the only thing that happened back there?" Josh effectively changed the topic.

"We tested my average again" Clay wondered how Josh would take the information when he hears that his average stats 'were' at the four hundred's. Emphasis on the 'were' since it's now at least seven hundred.

"Oh? what was the result?"

"420"

"..."

Josh blinked.

"What? Say that again"

"Four. Hundred. Twenty" Clay spoke slowly this time, watching Josh's facial expressions closely hoping to see something that he could make fun of.

Slowly, the facial features of Josh were slowly scrunching up, as if he had eaten a super sour lemon with its skin intact.

"Pff" Clay tried containing his laughter.

It didn't work as he burst out laughing moments after trying to hold his laugh in, which was the same as trying to hold a fart in and it suddenly explodes instead of letting it go and making the fart slowly seep out.

"I'm sorry what?" Still with a scrunched-up face, Josh asked Clay.

"I said 420" Clay responded with some struggle as he was still laughing.

"W-why i-pff, is your face like that"

"My face? What's wrong with my face?" Josh didn't notice how his face was looking a little bit off.

"Huh? Why are there bumps and wrinkles everywhere?" Josh asked as he felt his face.

"Y-you should see the look on your face right now, pffhaHAHAHAHA" Clay pointed at Josh who was still clueless as to what he looked like right now.

"Wait he-, w-wait here for a while" Clay took out his map and teleported to his sister's room.

...

..

.

"AHH!" Belle jumped out of her bed and screamed as she suddenly saw white lights gathering, forming a human from the bottom up.

Being alone in a room and then suddenly seeing decapitated feet slowly form from lights was a scary experience that's for sure.

But when Belle saw who the feet belonged to once the lights had fully gathered, she was relieved. But then she became angry.

"You nearly scared me to death!" Belle scolded her older brother.

"Hehe, sorry about that, it was urgent" Clay rubbed his head as he looked around.

"Say, where is your mirror? I need it for something" Clay asked his sister as he kept looking.

"It's over there- huh? What do you need it for?" Belle pointed at her drawer.

But before her question could get answered, Clay rummaged through her drawer before disappearing as fast as he came.

"Seriously?!" Belle stomped her foot as she went back to what she was doing.

...

..

.

"Here's a mirror, take a look" Clay grinned at Josh, who was still trying to make an image of his face by feeling it.

All of this while people were dumbfounded seeing a person suddenly turn into light and then reappearing again.

"Oh, thanks" Josh took the mirror Clay handed to him.
