1 im different?
Today was a fine weather. Im sitting under the shade of a tree that is meters away from our house. I look up and I could see some common dragons flying in the sky. They're just one of the common creature here in CELIEUS but they are quite dangerous if you provoke them. Maybe there are 12 common dragon residing in this kingdom and 3 rogue ones that is on different level with those common dragons. The common dragons are trained and owned by the royal family and nobles, but there are some that don't want to be with people. The rogues location is unknown but some adventurers say that one resides in the CILIEUS FOREST.
I hear a shout from my big brother calling me from the house. He is 18 years old and I am just 2 years younger than him. " kyle get ready! The entrance test of the academy will be starting soon" he shouted. This day im going to enter the EDENBROOK ACADEMY as a first grader. My brother is now on the third grade and only one year left for him to graduate and become a knight. He had been dreaming to be a knight of CILIEUS KINGDOM since we were just kids. Being an adventure is an honorary job that protects the kingdom and full of adventure. Imagine exploring new places , encountering new creatures like Pegasi that is rarely to be seen is so much excitement. Its part of why I wanted to be an adventurer.
The academy teaches swords and magic. You will have to choose or get tested to determine which one suited you. After you have been classified, you will be designated to your classroom based on your class. Edenbrook produces the best among the bests adventurers like the HAWK warrior who is a diamond tier level in the kingdom. The WITCH who is the best among the mages in the kingdom and is a diamond tier also. They both work directly from the king.
Diamond tier is the highest level in the ranking. The second to it is Gold then third is Silver and the lowest is bronze tier. "come on kyle" I heard my name being called again by my brother, so I stand up and stretched releasing some nervousness for the entrance test and ran towards him.
As I get closer to my brother waiting in front of our small house , I could see his handsome face but I am more good looking than he is, except for the body because he is toned. With his over all look he could get any girl that he wanted, but thinking of that made me feel jealous. He is more of a manly figure and I'm just a cute little handsome boy that is more likely to be pretty. Pretty is not even right to describe me because I'm a boy.
" I'm nervous rick" I said when I got to his side holding the rim of his shirt. "don't be k, its just a test that will just classify you on what field you belong" he said with a reassuring smile. It made me calm a little but I was thinking , what if I don't have a class. There are people who don't get the talent to become an adventurer and will just live a normal life. "don get too pessimistic k, I can see on your face that you are thinking too much, I'm sure you will have a class, you are talented" he said. "you are just saying that because we're brothers" I said with a pout then suddenly he kissed my forehead " you'll be alright, beside you're my little brother so you will gonna pass the test" my brother assured me again, but the kiss on the forehead was too embarrassing.
I am already 16 and what if someone sees us , him kissing me? It would look like that I am too reliant with my big brother.
We arrived at the edenbrook academy and there is lot of people at the entrance. Some are getting tested and others is waiting for their turn. We walk towards the 5th gate that has a less people to get tested. "good morning rick!" a girl greeted my brother blushing and gave him a letter then ran away immediately. I don't like it , my brother getting letters from girls, they are such a nuisance 'pffff'.
As we arrived at the gate that has a table infront with a book that classifies a person. I saw other students dropping blood from their finger, because in order to get classified you just have drop a small amount of blood into it and it will work. "good morning miss Perigrinn" my brother greeted a beatiful woman that seems to be a professor in the academy. "ohh, hi rick you told me that your brother is going to take the test today, is he that pretty boy?" she ask my brother pointing at me with a smile. "yess miss Perigrinn" my brother replied. " well then come here….." . "kyle, my name is kyle" I said. "ohh what a beautiful name" she commented. Again? First pretty and now beautiful? Why would people always describe me as a girl when I'm a boy? 'pffff' . I walk towards the table and stand infront of the book.
The classification will determine your talent. My brother when he first enter Edenbrook, he is classified as a shooter and knight. He can do both so he is considered as a rare one. Usually there are only one class that you can get but my brother has two. There are only few cases having more than one class in Edenbrook. In Warrior class there is a Shooter that uses bow or crossbow, they are agile and long range attacker. Knights that uses swords, halberd, shield and spear they take the front line. Assassin uses knife and you already know how they works.
The mage class has the Healer, AoE Elemental, summoner and a necromancer. I stared at the book not recognizing the letters in it, maybe some kind of ancient language. Miss Perigrinn took a niddle and hold my hand then poke it at my thumb 'oww' it hurt when the needle pierce through my skin. There is a small drop of blood came out from it and it drop to the book.
The book then started to turn pages on its own. Being so excited of the result that my dream will become reality starting from now. Then after a while of flipping pages it stopped,and it shows a blank space. Nothing is written in it. Miss Perigrinn gave a confused look "this never happened before ,it usually shows a magic circle that represents the class, maybe you don't have a class kyle, im so sorry" she made an apologetic look. My heart tighten , my eyes started to get wet. I was waiting for this moment in my life, to follow the footsteps of my brother but now theres nothing I can do. I wont be an adventurer like my brother. Nothing is shown in the book.
The adventure that I wanted to do will not come. The joy of learning new things, the excitement of seeing new magical creatures. All of it will be gone. It hurt me thinking about what I wanted the most will not come.
I turned around and started to walk away facing down. I could hear my brother calling me and trying to talk to me but none of it get through my head. Im just thinking of how unlucky my life was. I'll be living as normal person. I will not experience the excitement of being an adventure. My hope is slowly fading but then I heard an old lady voice, maybe coming from the table where I was tested. "it is not shown in the book RASKERIA that has a thousand pages but I saw the book of LEVIERIUM at the treasure room in the library flip its page and showed a class, so I immediately come here at the entrance test gate hoping to know why and luckily saw the empty page of RASKERIA" the old woman explained. I looked back at her with an unbelievable look. "I've got a class?" I asked desperately the old woman with so much in my mind. My hopes is starting to build up again. The feeling of the wound starting to heal. Joy and excitement started to flood through me There is an another classification book , LEVIERIUM. What is it? Why is my class is not shown on Raskeria? What is Levierium?
