1 1. Mother

I tried to keep my concentration in the book, to know what happens when these chemicals interact with each other. Some alphabets with a number as their base. We call it as chemical formulas were being added to similar kinds of other.

"Bang!!!" I messed up again. I could never score well in chemistry. I sighed and rested my forehead on the book. As soon as I did that a hand hit on the back of my head.

"Miss. Sherly." I said and positioned myself. She is our chemistry teacher whose teaching pierce my ears. I don't know where do her words go, they land everywhere but my brain.

"Show me what you did Miss. Trotsky." She snatched the book from my hand.

"No." Before I could say a sentence my book was in her hands. She examined it for a long time.

Oh-no! Just return it. Don't see it.

"What is this?" She snapped.

I was expecting this reaction from her as I drew my imaginary characters in the book. Giving each character a name as a chemical formula, depending upon its type. If a chemical is a liquid, I drew a fluid character, if it's a gas, a smoky character and if it's a metal, a stone type character. I need some tricks to understand chemistry. I heard a sound that brought me out of my imagination, a sound of paper being torn.

"No." The moment I was getting a little bit of it, she ruined it. My best efforts went in vain because of her sweet action. She heavily stamped my book on the table and continued her teaching. I sat there quietly with the thought; She killed my little friends.

After some time class ended and Jacob turned towards me.

"What was that?" He questioned.

"She killed my friends," I replied.

He laughed at my words and said. "Did you get anything she taught?"

"No." I shook my head.

Next was math class which is one of my favorites. I love doing the math, that stuff is logical, unlike chemistry. Later was physics, again my favorite because physics has logic too. These maths, physics and language classes went with ease. No lunch gossip as I don't have many friends. To be precise Jacob is my only friend.

Finally, the tiring day ended. I was heading towards the locker room and saw Afrodoid, a light skin girl with blonde hair tied in a messy ponytail. Some flicks of her hair were falling on her blue eyes. She has a small nose, thin pink lips, and curved jawline. Her features were like a doll with a perfect figure covered with a black skirt and red top. She was leaning on a guy who was resing back on the locker with his hands circled her waist. I couldn't see him as his face was cover by her, his hair was the only visible thing.

"Levy."I shifted my gaze to Jacob. A huge smile was plastered on his face.

Something good had happened, that smile shows it clearly.

"Guess what?" He asked with excitement.

"Chemistry banned?" If this is what happened, I will be on cloud nine.

"No. You can say the teacher though." He replied.

"Explanation please," I demanded.

"She is getting married and will be moving to her husband's place." He explained.

Happiness reanimated my imaginary friends. But was no longer as there can be a replacement of the lecture.

"Don't you think there will be a replacement?" I asked.

"There will be but it takes time. Till then we are free." He answered happily raising his hands in the air on 'free'. I kept looking at him he is slim and tall. Two-three inches taller than me. His brown curly hair was falling on one side. He has sea-green eyes, a small sharp nose, and a V shape jawline wich an appealing smile on his lips.

"Let's have a little celebration for this." His waving hand in front of my eyes brought me back from my observation. I narrowed my eyes at him indicating that this is no time for the celebration and then realized it's almost time to pick Adam from the school. I hurried out with a quick bye to Jacob and drove my black Mercedes to Arrow Smith High.

I halted my car near the school's gate and saw Adam walking towards me, while his silky black hair was bouncing as he walks. He has chocolate brown eyes, unlike mine which is blue. A small nose and pink lips. Adam is my 10-year-old, super cute brother. I unlock the doors and he slid into the passenger's seat. Throwing his bag in the back seat he smiled at me.

His cute little smile.

We got home and I unlocked the door. He kept his bag on the table, tugged off his shoes and heavily jump on the couch to rest. I walked to the kitchen and started preparing chicken soup and vegetable rice. After getting fresh we had our dinner not in silence as Adam was babbling about how his day went then abruptly went quiet.

This is suspicious.

I cleared my throat and asked. "What happened?"

"My assessments are starting from tomorrow." He wasn't looking at me but down at the plate.

"So that never bothered you." As he is good at that except maths and French.

"I have to submit a poem on mothers. The marks will count." His words froze me for a while as our mother died six years ago. He was hardly 4 and never knew how a mother is or her love felt like. I had a vivid memory of her being in the hospital with a bottle of glucose hanging beside her bed. After her death, Brother was the one who took care of us along with lady Anna; our maid. Now, brother lives in a different county handling mother's international business.

"Why don't I help you with your work?" I questioned more like a statement.

"Really?" He asked with twinkling eyes.

He asked because I never helped him in his work and always act like a bossy older sister. I didn't want him to be dependent on me.

I affirmatively nodded.

We quickly finished our food. He ran towards his bag, took out a pen and a paper and sat on the couch.

I thought for a while before writing then started.

MOTHER

A mother is the one who brought you into this world,

She is the person who cares for you before she cares for her.

When you feel sad, she'll be on your side,

Wipe your tears with a sweet warm smile.

She is with you in each step you take,

Guide you to a line that you lead.

She adores seeing you joyful,

Glad when you are cheerful.

Though you hurt her and make her cry,

She never shows the pain and keeps on a smile.

She repeats each word to make you clear,

You can't say it twice when she couldn't hear.

She deserves more than she does,

You never know what pain she goes.

When you realize in your mind,

There will be no time,

She'll be gone from the word of mine.

After finishing, I glanced at the paper and thought. Isn't it big for him? but flicked that thought away by big enough for good marks.

As long as Adam was happy that's enough. Later, I went into my room to do chemistry work but Jacob's words changed my mind. Skipping my work for the first time, I went for a bath.

Before going to bed we played PS4. A game called Tekken, one-on-one and went to sleep at 9 pm. Adam never sleeps alone. He's afraid of darkness and always tiptoed into my room, with the hope that I will be asleep. He then makes him comfortable under my blanket. Unaware of the fact that I always watched him crawling up my bed.
