1 Prologue

Heena was desperate to find the happiness, love, trust, and protection she sees in her brother's and his mate's eyes. The ultimate bond of mates, the missing piece of your heart, the last piece of your puzzle in life, and un-accountable happiness is what she craved. It's been 4 years since she shifted. Her wolf and she just want to start living. Yesterday was her 16th birthday and her first heat would be next week that is exactly 6 days from now.

It has been a known fact that a she-wolf can get pregnant only when her heat coincides with the full moon which comes in every 2 months after the first heat for a mated wolf but every 6 months for an unmated wolf. The effects of heat last for 36 hours straight, attracting nearly every unmated male within a 20-meter radius.

Heena's twin, beta Roderick Reed Evans was the 2nd beta. Being a large pack, it had 2 betas just like the other bigger packs. In this pack, she was the only one who could become a part of any group within the pack. She could fight, defend, watch, care for, and heal. Due to her great grasping power and interest, she was able to spend some time learning each of the fields from the specialists. She had at many times assisted the pack doctors, learned from the head caretaker about how to work, learned to fight as was by choice (only for females who want to fight), learned to defend (and all about safe houses and secret paths), etc. All of this made her special, which only the pack elders treasured and knew of, while she was like any other nerd but popular due to her brother's and best friend Gabriel's status. But being good is an invitation to bad. She had only one true female friend, Ariel Alana Jacqueline, her twin's mate, who was a caretaker, and many male friends out of which Gabriel was her best male friend. Others were out of her scope being the snobby bitches, jealous types, or power-hungry.

Since she was 11, she had developed a secret crush on Gabe (Gabriel). But he always considered her his best friend and sort of sister. So she buried her liking in her heart so that she did not get hurt. She thought that she would wait to see if he was her mate. It was after all just a matter of a year. Her twin was like her soul reader. He knew her every emotion if he wants to find out. He knew of her secret crush too but decided to not intervene. Two years later he found his mate, Ariel (in short AJ). He marked her and gradually shifted his life around so that it depended on her. Heena was left with one less of a person in her life.

Heena knew that being a special person in the eyes of the elders and nothing special in the eyes of the others would be difficult, but she managed fairly well. She did not want problems from others because of her obvious specialty. So she hid it. Her alpha was impressed with her skills and wanted her to help in the matters whenever required as she was always full of ideas. What she didn't know was that these matters would take her to her mate.
