67 Section 66: The Vague Truth

"Candice?" my hands trembled when a warm splatter of blood touched my palm as I held the little girl tight in my arms. Her small hand was stabbed with the sword Jean punctured through the mattress. Candice gasped in pain as she saw the sword went through her tiny left hand. I covered her mouth in haste but it's inevitable.

Jean found us, he mercilessly dragged the trembling child from my grasp. Candice couldn't voice her pain properly due to her incapability to voice herself. She just grunted and looked at me in horror as she saw the blood dripping from her hand. Jean grabbed onto her small shoulder and dragged her behind him.

I got out from the hole beneath the bed and snarled at the man who just stabbed the little girl mercilessly.

"How dare you!?" I glared at Jean.

"How would I know that Candice would be down there with you!? I don't know!" Jean grumbled at me. "It's your fault for betraying us!".
